Anyone good with crafts, specifically with wood/Popsicle sticks?
I've been wanting to get my furry feline babies and their mama a nice cat tree that they can sit atop of and look out the window. While I can afford to purchase one online, I'd like to make a "fancy" one based on an old school castle tower.
This is basically what I am aiming for, only I want to make two towers, one shorter than the other and both connected together by a wall. I like the idea of using Popsicle sticks with the edges cut off, but I am worried about structural support ( the mama is a cow and I'm pretty sure Rambo will try to chew holes through it). Would making gluing two or even three layers of the sticks together be feasible? Are there other types of craft sticks that are thicker and stronger to use?
Also, would a hot glue gun be the best to glue everything together? Is there a tiny electric saw I could use to cut the shapes that I want? Is there pet safe paint I could use on the finished product or is there something I could use to give it a shine like whats used with hardwood floors?
I wish Lego made wooden legos I could have just glued together.

Have you considered pvc pipe? Multiple sizes to play with from 1/2 inch to 4 inch. You can add cheap rocks on later for texture or just glue the popsicle sticks on after for appearance.

I was actually thinking about that! I purchased a box made with pvc and fabric that is also connected with a tunnel and they love it.
I just need to do some window shopping and look for some nice thin rigid pipes and connectors. I might order some online.

there definitely is, though I am unsure how it’s called in English.. look out for wooden finisher/tarnish that’s suitable for toys/toddlers! Have used that for parts of my chinchilla cage

Thank you. I would actually prefer finisher over paint. I’ll keep an eye out for it!
