Unhooking in front of rescuer
Please stop it. This is getting to be too much. Traveling across the map just for you to kobe and refuse me my points is too much during my losing streak. You're actively throwing when you do this and I'm not going to encourage it. If you want to kobe then try before I leave my gen.

Isn't kobeing like a 4% chance? I can't believe this happens that much.
2 -
If someone does this and they don’t get off, I leave them on the hook. It’s really dumb.
4 -
I did a Kobe once Infront of the Killer the Killer was so surprised that they let me leave alive lmao
3 -
It's 4% per attempt, and you have 3 of them. So it should be around 11% or so (didn't do math, I saw that number, but total chance must be more than 4% indeed).
0 -
So they did it only as your got close for save? I thought maybe they were throwing the game as they wanted out, I've had a weird few games with people doing it on first hook recently, but if it was as you arrived, that's just silly :/

Back when i still played there was a spike in how much this happened, so i set some rules for me with that.
If I'm close and they try to kobe in my face than i wait till they go to stage 2 and then unhook them.
Do they stop trying when I'm close i will unhook them.
If they kobe right in my face then i turn around and go work on a gen, they don't have to expect me healing them.
They don't enjoy it when they kobe and won't get healed, the same as i didn't like coming from across the map to unhook only to find them kobe in my face

Am I the only one who really doesn’t care about this?
14 -
Even though unhooking yourself when someone came from the other side of the map is a dick move, you still hurt yourself too if you let them hit second.
This is a team game, you can’t win without the help of your teammates. If the killer decides to tunnel out that survivor for a early 3v1 it’s gg

It's pretty obnoxious, but they just need those darn kobe points
2 -
Tbf, seeing that someone will make it in time for the unhook even if you do take one 4% chance is just funny for the most part. - Like, the chance is so low and you're safe either way that you might as well try. In the vast majority of cases you will not unhook yourself. On the rare occasion you do it's worth a chuckle. Sure, if I am the one running to get the unhook I also go "Bruh! mY pOinTs!!" - but I still have a laugh.
2 -
What about if you are running Deliverance they kobe and you so lost possible activation of a perk. This is why I prioritize gen over hooked survivors. When you remember this is a team game and you can intentionally spread out hook stages. It is a risk vs reward assessment.

The only time I get annoyed when this happens is if they deny me my safe unhook to activate my deliverance. Other than that, I don't really care if they attempt if I'm there and they don't go to second because of it.
It's just really petty to leave them on hook to go to second if they try to kobe. It's a lot of points for them if they successfully 4% so I understand why they might have their free attempt. If they kobe in my face, I just start healing them right away cause those are points I can still receive in altruism and it's not like they have bt, so if the killer comes back, they're kinda screwed.
It's why I don't wait last second to kobe off hook with deliverance, so I don't get some petty teammate who'll refuse to heal me all game because they came for an unhook that they didn't need to.

If anyone does this infront of me i just stop being a mate and play for myself.
2 -
It's annoying, but I don't bother to care beyond a few points or tbags. I get why people do it - kobeing on the whole is usually suicide, but there's no risk when your rescuer is close enough to get you anyway, so that's when they go for the meme.
I go "bruh" at losing my unhook points, but it's not worth throwing the game over.
1 -
...it doesn't give you 4% each extra time, it's a 4% chance 3 times
0 -
If it's very likely someone is definitely going to get me off the hook during phase 1, but they are a bit away, it's totally worth it to take 1 chance, and only 1 chance. If I can get myself off without you having to run over here, that's all the better. It's more efficient.

As tempting as it is to just let them die and/or refuse to heal them, I'm not quite at "cutting my nose to spite my face" levels of hatred for it.
That being said, if later in the game there comes a time when it's a risk for me to come save them, I won't do it. I'm just opening that gate and leaving since you're so independent that you want to pull yourself off the hook like that...
3 -
Each time you are trying to kobe you have 4% chance to do that, equal for each attempt. So more attempts - more probability.
0 -
Yeah but it doesn't add up to 12% on the 3rd try, it's 4% 3 times is what I'm getting at, being garbage chances, so why would you ever kobe?
0 -
You will be surprised.
It's 11% (and it's for only one kobe for three attempts, missing mathematical chances you'll get 2 or even 3, but it adds less than a percent so basically it's still 11%).
Kinda near 12%, you know. Still don't wan't to try?
1 -
It's only worth it in niche situations such as you're hooked and the other survivors are all slugged. Otherwise you'll probably just second stage yourself and diminish your chances of winning.
0 -
When they do it with 4% its annoying but more often than not they force themselves into struggle so they are 2 hook and punishing themselves. It's when they're running Deliverance and wait until I'm right there that I get frustrated. Next time they're downed someone else can go get them on 2nd hook, I'm not wasting my time again.

It's also artificial RNG, math kinda gets thrown out the window

This unfound complaint again. Sigh.

People trying to kobeing when the rescuer is almost there is super common, I usually leave them to die, from my experience its more of a console players thing albeit Steam users also do it from time to time.
Hence the "this is going to hurt me more than its going to hurt you" saying...

Yes, for 3 attempts - yes. You know another situation? When a teammate is near and you have 1 (4% chance) or 2 (7% chance) safe attempts to kobe. If you try to kobe (safely) every game you can make a kobe achievement without Deliverance pretty easy. That's why people do that: chances aren't so low (on a big scale) and they are safe to try.
And if you are this teammate... well you have seen more than 3 attempts, so chances to see a kobe are much much higher.
And that's your argument why this somehow isn't 11%? I'd say it's more likely that artificial RNG makes your chances to kobe higher if it's second minute of the game and all other survs are downed or hooked :) And I doubt actual number are lower than 10% for 3 attempts. Artificial RNG isn't perfect but it's still RNG.

I made this post after having two people try to 4% right before I unhooked them in the same game. Both times I was working on a gen that we desperately needed. I don't like making complaint threads like this but I was really at my wits end during my losing streak. Idk if it's bad luck or what but this happens every other game now.
I try not to be spiteful because it further hinders the team. Although I did refuse to heal a Claudette the other day... mostly because we were facing Legion (she let me die on first hook),
Normally it isn't a big deal. The issue is that it's happening every other game for me. On top of a bad losing streak I have to deal with randoms refusing me points and taking me away from the objective which in turn increases the likelihood that we lose.
I try my best not to let them hit second. That's why I ran across the map in the first place. Some of them go for the kobe when it's a guaranteed second hook state.
As I mentioned it normally isn't a big deal. It's just that every other game during a losing streak tilted me enough to complain on the forums.

Thanks for adding to the conversation.

Ok fine, if it means that much to you, you proved me wrong, congratulations, I was just throwing in my thoughts

I don't try either and most of the time the team still pulls it off.
If the killer comes to me and the unhooked person than i will always be the bait and give him a run for his money.
It's not like i let the unhooked person to die.
Tbh being injured doesn't mean it will hinder the team, i played so many matches with no mither and most of the time i even escaped.
And the killer will most of the time go out of their way to go for the no mither person.
Just be sure you know how to loop and how to read and combine as many tiles as possible.

As a console player, yes. I do enjoy hopping off hook. I do not intentionally do it when someone comes to rescue, that is just a coincidence.

As long as you're being a team player that's all I care about in my game.
0 -
Apparently not but you and the rest that liked your comment obviously lack empathy
0 -
Oh. Sorry if I sounded like... forcing you to accept my point, it's just odd for me to throw math out of the window just because. Didn't mean to prove you wrong, really. If you think actual numbers are lower than that - that's ok, I was throwing in my thoughts too, about artificial RNG. Really think they might have some pity multiplyers for survs.
0 -
Yeah, true, I mean, at this point I don't even think artificial RNG is a thing when it comes to playing with my friend, he always gets off in the most convenient situations with that 4% , lol
0 -
???
I couldn’t care less if you unhook yourself in my face. How does that speak for my lack of empaty??
0 -
Always been and always be a team player.
The only time I'm not a team player is when they are trying to sandbag me.
And strangely enough i even help than which has happened a few times.
Was with a 3 man swf and they tried to sandbag me all 3 matches and even failed many times and even sacrificed myself before i realized it were them 😅

Because just by saying that on this thread you are trivializing what was said by the op, and many others who feel the same way. Like saying That it’s a non-issue.

People on this forum hate math
Especially if it proves them wrong
0 -
If that's how it came across, I apologise, that was not my intention at all.
0 -
All good no big deal. I had a suspicion that you may have not meant it that way, but its hard telling through text. I'm not trying to be mean just point out that it undercuts the op's post.
