Good to know
I was going to start it after I finish season 4 of Stanger Things

Same, I've got two episodes of ST and then need something else.
2 -
I've heard middle to bad things about it :D
I'll still probably watch it because I'm a sucker for zed stuff but I'm going in with pretty low expectations after that crappy animated TV Show Netflix made...
1 -
I haven't ever really played or watched any RE stuff so my take might not be the best for RE fans but I like it so far

That show doesn't deserve the name "Resident Evil" managed to watch the first ~20 minutes before I turned that garbage off. This show has as much to do with the "Resident Evil" games as with a game like 'The Sims'.
Also black Wesker, like really? Ppl complain about whitewashing but blackwashing a white character who has a Nazi-like nature is ok LMAO
Can't wait for a WW2 series made by Netflix in which they turn Hitler into a black guy - and also completely change his character. Give him 2 daughters who are also black and completely change his character, turning him into the actual good guy cause its 2022. This woke crap really starts to get stupid.

I am on episode 4 or 5 i am a big resident evil fan and am enjoying it so far

I didn't like the first episode, and I've been a fan of the series since the original PS1 game.
It is directed entirely at the younger generations, instead of trying to win over the older fanbase.

Your picture isn't really reflecting the reactions a lot of people are giving to just the Wesker part of the show, let alone the reaction to the show itself. Just browsing through social media for a few minutes and you can see people are divided on this so your picture should have groups of people on the left side too. Wesker is one of the most iconic Resident Evil characters in the franchise and in horror gaming. Wesker has basically looked the same for 26 years since his debut in 1996. If he all of a sudden looks like a different person in a story about Resident Evil then its not unreasonable for a lot of long time fans of the franchise to take issue with this. People are just used to the iconic Wesker they've known for so long. I can't imagine a lot of RE fans are really going to be interested in this. We'll have to see what the reviews are like.

The Wesker In the new netflix show Is the best he's ever been :)

Is he? Well if he pulls it off and really is the best Wesker has ever been then I'm sure the reviews will reflect it and it'll be received very well by RE fans too. I haven't seen any reviews yet but just going from reactions I've seen on social media, its not looking all that promising.

This RE on netflix is for the newer generation out with the old and In with the new super fresh take super fun action and a big monster budget maybe watch it before you comment on other peoples opinions lol

I commented based on what I have seen and in response to the criticism of a particular character in the RE franchise. I'm not denying nor have I said the Wesker in the netflix show did or did not do a good job representing the character. Maybe he did and if I watch it I'll decide for myself if he did. I've been an RE fan for over 20 years so I know Wesker when I see him. And no, the older RE fandom is not racist, misogynistic and homophobic. Thats basically stereotyping an entire fandom of a franchise because you disagree with their idea of authenticity or was there some other reason you think this about millions of people from 2 decades back?

Bestie read the comments people don't like Wesker being black and the main characters being women and the movie that just came out made the actors disable their social media accounts due to all the racism RE needs new blood in it's fandom because the old one is super toxic

Wesker has a special charm about him and his outward appearance for 26 years is a big part of that charm. I don't think the criticism is because people have a problem with black people. I think its really just because Wesker has a long time established image and the original RE fandom is still around and values that image. As far as main characters being women, I don't see how that is a problem. Resident Evil's most iconic characters have been women (Claire, Jill, Ashley Rebecca) to name a few. If any of the iconic female characters from the franchise appear in the show I'm sure that alone is going to bring in a lot of fans just out of curiosity.

It's just a fun 8 hour post apocalyptic dystopian horror thing the RE people are being way to harsh like be grateful the thing you love keeps getting content very whiny fandom IMO we don't need the same things over and over again new takes are fun these people just hate fun Katemain86 like get some wine and enjoy the new take on a franchise you love bestie I hope you like it the lickers are scary also very big bugs hated that <3

I remember back when the Resident Evil movies were being made and I watched all of them. There was a lot of criticism on how they didn't reflect the story of the game. I personally loved the RE movies and loved the introduction of a new character like Alice. Even though the movies didn't fully reflect the game's story I greatly enjoyed them and I defend them to this day as being a great addition to the franchise. The idea of Resident Evil is very inspirational so even with stories within the franchise that don't fully reflect the canon story can still be done well. It needs to be handled with care however and not strive too far away from its roots.

Yeah I’m not a big fan of when they change an established characters race. Didn’t like it when they did it to Jill in welcome to raccoon city
1 -
It's hilariously bad. For anyone wondering just how bad...
6 -
Wait is it a musical comedy or something? 🤣 Resident Evil has a long established fandom going back 26 years. Just from that clip alone I can tell RE fans are not going to be interested in this. I don't know whats going on in the entertainment industry these days but it sure seems like they are very disconnected from the fandoms that made these iconic franchises.

Out with the old In with the new It's number 1 on netflix the old fandom isn't needed for it to be successful stop commenting on this thread with only negative remarks it's like days old and you keep putting it back at the top we get it you don't like it move on

"The new" isn't always a good thing and the long established fandom of one of the most iconic franchises in video game history is speaking their mind on this. Their opinion and criticism matters. This may appeal to a new audience but its not going to go without the criticism of the original fandom that don't like what they see. Criticism is not off limits and praise is not the only opinion allowed on things like this. Some things are better left unchanged but rather expanded on from its roots.
I'm not going to not give my opinion about something just because you don't like it. If you don't like what I have to say about something then don't read it and most certainly don't respond to it.

It never seems to end well when things like this happen. People care about their favorite franchises. I just checked the Rotten Tomatoes review page for the netflix Resident Evil show and well... lets just say its pretty bad.
2 -
What did I just watch lmao

I can imagine. It’s not resident evil. It’s something different with the name resident evil. At least welcome to raccoon city had characters that we knew. At least Claire and Chris were fine. This show I knew was gonna suck from the trailers. Just looks like a CW show.
2 -
Yeah ignore the fans that have been there since RE1. Ignore the fans that play the games and support them
2 -
Haha, who cares about people who care and love the franchise!
Out with the old *sings*
2 -
It really is like a CW show.
The CGI was great for what it was worth. The concept was decent enough and the actors did well with what they were given. The dialogue was bad and some of the scenes were just too cheesy. I think it would have been better if they got a better director.
I give it a C+.
They guy that played Wesker what the best thing about the show.

This show is NOT good
Maybe if you haven't played or care for the games you MIGHT like it
1 -
Oh I could say so many things, but this news speaks for itself.
3 -
Yeah, I watched it
It's dog crap.

I expected worse. Wasn´t that bad after all.
The CGI Monsters and some scenes were pretty good.
It was better than Welcome to Raccoon City. The locations and "will" to do something good for the fans was there but the directing and action was so amateur like... that really disappointed me.
And these forced casting choices these times. Even if i in fact liked Albert and Evelyn.
Fans just want something like the games with cool effects and would be happy. But Hollywood just never gets it. The RE movies had some fun action but also were not good.
Sadly.

I just finished it. It's a weird take on Wesker. I feel like it was someone's fantasy to have Wesker as a dad, and basically that's the premise of the show. That being said, I think it was fun. It's more fun if you are a Wesker fan obviously. The actor did a really good job portraying him I think. It's a realistic version of him. Basically the show centers around his two daughters Jade and Billie, and you have to be okay with the show opening up to new characters instead of just visiting older ones. Although, I found Billie's premise kinda lame.
