Will Spirit Be Meta Again After Mid-Chapter?

I forgot about you i’m sorry bud.

Yeah, back to "outplaying" everyone by buying a good headset and following sounds I guess lol

For real though, while still being strong, after all the reworks survivors got more info on what she was doing then the other way around, thanks to the whooshing sound effect on her side and survivors adopting the stand still trick in lieu with IW on their side. If you were experienced with her you might notice moving gras or some other cues, but for me it always felt like and uphill battle, trying to learn her and git gud.
I always proposed that IW should just not work against her in her spirit mode, but that always got shot down for some reason.
I am eager to try her again after the update as I like her idea and kit, but survivors were always running circles around me (for the most part).

I am also going to play her again. It was so hard to play Spirit against Iron Will users. She is not my main killer, so i am not good with her. And i had zero fun. But with upcoming update, i will play her more.

Ding ding ding
And THIS is why you balance around the best players. The worst killer in the game will slaughter an inexperienced group. Changes to dead hard, dstrike and IW will have 0 effect on the vast majority of the player base because they aren’t good enough to exploit broken perks/mechanics. Spirit is another example of that. Balance changes significantly affect top level players-that’s where the devs should look to balance. The majority of arguments on this forum occur because either the person talking isn’t good, or they have convinced themselves that their success is the same as balance

She'll never be meta again. Now at least she can hear a survivor at 50% sound IF they're using Iron Will and she's using Stridor, or 25% if they're injured. You may see more Spirits not having to use Cherry Blossom to find survivors in phase.

Yeah! Our combined effort will make @TheGannMan a happy Gann. BTW, during the event I finally bought my last missing character and got the full roster and my forst 7.200 shards went into spirits flower kimono. So I was already thinking ahead :>
1 -
Probably not, there might be slight increase but not meta.
0 -
I’m always happy whenever the character I care about dearly gets the love she deserves 😁
1 -
I am happy for ya :>
I wish I could say the same about my one true love Pyramid Head, though, buuuut he is cool enough, even though 85% of his add-ons are solid "meh" territory.
1 -
Spirit still has the problem where survivors can hear a phasing Spirit much easier than Spirit can hear survivors. Also, OTR is going to reduce grunts of pain for up to 80 seconds at a time, and Stridor still won't be able to counter that. She's still not worth playing anymore.
0 -
She'll be better, but no, still too much counter play and addon reliance.
1 -
How is she not worth it anymore? You can absolutely play around directional audio with 176% speed.
0 -
If you are tunnelling survivor after hook, yeah OTR will work. You can go after unhooker survivor instead unhooked survivor?
0 -
Why bother? I've seen maybe 1 or 2 spirits in the past month. Clearly most other people agree with me that Spirit's garbage.
1 -
I think ridiculous strength were only thing that gave reason to play her for most peoples because her power is quite clunky, other killers are much easier (and also feels better in extent) to play.
She needs quite the amount of commitment to work despite being A or B tier.
If a killer basically can not tunnel, that's a hell of a downside tbh.
0 -
No they can tunnel but this mean they need to take risk of OTR & DS. Both perks will effect all killers, not just Spirit.
0 -
If I do that, the survivor will get healed up by someone else, then will try to bodyblock, because they "don't want to waste their OTR". People were doing this to me during the PTB.

They didn't just nerf it, they ruined the Iron Will perk completely with the new update. What's the point of using it if it's only 75% instead of 100% max rank. The whole point of it is to be able to keep the killer from hearing u make noises while injured. Making it one of the best perks in the whole game and anyone who says it wasn't is crazy. But after the update there will be no point at all in using it cause it won't work the way it is suppose to.
0 -
Yes, let's say survivor will do that. They can do this against any killer. At least Spirit can play around bodyblock with her power.
0 -
But since spirit is relying on sounds, she takes more hits than others.
0 -
As a killer you lose fully loud survivors all the time, because your own sounds and chase music is blasting in your ears.
100% sound reduction was pretty unfair, 75% is still good enough, but at least gives the killer a fighting chance.
And now its a meaningful choice: to I stay and immerse or use my exhaustion perk and zoom off, but not "zoom ofc and then immerse".
1 -
Wasn't unfair at all for it to be 100%, u aren't suppose to be able to hear the survivor at all when they have it on which makes it really easy to get around the map and avoid the killer.
Add to that there are other killer perks that make it easier for the killer to find a survivor even with Iron Will on so nerfing it makes little to no sense.
0 -
If killers aren't supposed to be able to hear the survivor all the time due to a perk, that's called unfair, especially in the game where sounds are really important.
0 -
Killer should be able to hunt them weather they are making noise or not. Survivors should have a perk that makes them silent when equipped especially since it's usually impossible for a survivor to hide and heal while injured when they are making noise.

Many spirit players think she's dependent on very specific addons, and good luck getting those after the prestige rework disaster that's being rolled out next patch.
2 -
I don't think so, primarily for the same reason that I kind of dropped her for slinger, I played spirit for a long time and that might be q factor but she just stopped giving the funny chemicals in my brain.
Let me elaborate, hitting a post-phase hit wasn't as flashy as a blight/oni/billy curve or a huntress/slinger snipe, it just felt kinda good, so even if she had an amazing chase theme and amazing model, she just didn't gave me that adrenaline rush, hope im wrong and other players can find her fun for more time.
But for me rin...kinda fell off.
1 -
And it was confirmed to be too strong to be a perk, thus a nerf happened.
0 -
She is still pretty weak needs buff to have 115% movement speed.
0 -
But survivors also do that against Spirit so you contradicted yourself there.
0 -
He said it first, though, therefore your argument is invalid.
2 -
i mean that's going to be a problem for all killers. Look on bright side, If you get to level 100 prestige, you can no longer prestige so you get to stay at level 50 bloodwebs. only takes 180 million BP to go 0-100 and like another 2 million BP for 20,000 BP tax. have fun doing that one without BBQ. So the reward for completing p100 is having old bloodwebs.

Spirit never stopped being meta. She just became less popular because not only she ceased to be broken, she also got the only fun thing about her changed (for a good reason), which was survivors not knowing which direction she was coming from.
Now she is quite a bland killer that only uses her power to get speed boosts. She is normally slow but then gains a speed increase, that is her power. But she never stopped being S tier. With the right add-ons, she is still the third best killer in the game, because a speed increase with no limitations to your turning rate is strong as hell in a game about chases.
Also, she doesn't require the same amount of skill Nurse and Blight do. That makes her the strongest killer for average players.

When I play Blight, he doesn't turn into trash if I'm not using a very specific iri addon.
0 -
yeah and most of his add-on are kinda good. umbra salt+adrenaline vial, both speed add-ons, alchemist journal and summoning stone can be kinda funny. alchemist ring+iri tag with infectious fright is amazing, C21 is good for aura reading, so most of his add-on are usable and he has good base-kit(though in my opinion, i think that worse survivors will have hard time escaping blight).
0 -
Either way it's still a stupid move to ruin one of the best survivor perks in DBD.
0 -
no
0 -
Yes
0 -
did you asked for an opinion or not? i said my opinion regarding your question and for me it's a absolutely not, she won't be popular
0 -
Because the fun aspect of her power was taken away which is was her unpredictability.
As a former dedicated spirit main, you are a fool. Most former Spirit mains also dropped her because outside of MDR+DCB it's too easy for survivors to pinpoint her location while phasing which ultimately defeated the purpose of her kit.
They used to say "You just need a good pair of headphones to play Spirit" now it's "You need a good pair of headphones to counter Spirit"
0 -
It only makes sense when survivors are generally superior than killers tbh.
0 -
I wasn’t the OP btw. I just wanted to say yes to your no lol. I certainly hope my girl becomes more popular 🥹
0 -
There’s ways to play around directional audio. It doesn’t make her completely useless and it also makes her even stronger in certain situations.
0 -
Depends on what perks the killer has on. Some killer perks make it very easy to take out survivors.
