DO NOT BUFF THANATOPHOBIA
the perk is very good in it state right now and the buff will make games 10x harder against legion and other killer that depends on survivors healing and working on gens
Comments

The perk is getting a very minor buff and is currently -only- really strong on Legion, who is a low-tier killer.
10 -
Or, alternatively, buff it more?
11 -
Yeah, like ######### are they smoking.
Legion is one of my go to, fall back killers. I can never go wrong with them. But Thana is just so zzzzzzzzz boring even though it's good. It doesn't make satisfying explodey noises that Jolt does.
If Legion gets a nerf to accomodate Thana because it's expected that All Legion players run Thana, I'm actually gonna be really pissed off.
3 -
... it's an extra 2 percent, I think we will live
10 -
Survivor bias.
Good state = completely useless
Also you don't understand magnification. 10x is defo quite a lot. Plus if you are worried about "depends on Survivors healing" wait until you learn about Nurse's Calling.
6 -
It's broken on Plague and Legion and strong on every other killer. After the update, merely two stacks of Thana increase gens to 100 seconds. Already too much and too easy to activate. It's a bad perk.
As far as Legion being low-tier, what is so hard about playing them with Never-Sleep Pills and Mural Sketch (the majority of Legions I've faced since their buff run these two add-ons specifically)? Free wall hacks, survivors are one-shot, gens are slow, etc. It's training wheels.
2 -
The bigger issue is the fact that it's being compounded with base generator increases.
9 -
All Legions run Thana because they feel like they need to, right?
If we follow BT logic, that means it needs a buff as well as a weaker version included as basekit :)
4 -
I mean, sure, but still, 2% of 10 extra seconds is like .2 seconds, if you didn't complete the gen before the killer got there, I don't think .2 seconds will change the outcome
2 -
Thana is run to make games anti-competitive in favor of the killer. BT is a reaction to anti-competitive, low-skilled killer "strats", i.e. tunneling. You do not need Thana against four randoms.
1 -
*whoosh*

Thanatophobia has an interesting effect of leading survivors to believe it is slowing them down way more than it actually is. Same goes for Sloppy Butcher. The changes seem fine in PTB matches.
2 -
People have this outdated notion of not healing vs. legion. There are circumstances in which it's good to heal: when the alternative is sitting with 4 stacks of thana for instance. Never sleep legion is outrunnable, 20s is not forever. A never sleep legion also gets injuries slower than a normal one and is easier to bodyblock when you're in deep wounds. If you run Circle and a healing perk of your choice you can make regaining health states fairly efficient.
People seem to have this tiresome mindset of wanting to play vs. every killer the same way without playing to their weaknesses or doing any thinking. It's annoying.
5 -
Don't forget Plague.
2 -
Whilst all killer gen regression perks got nerfed? Seems fair to me.
0 -
Maybe survivors will cleanse a lot more.
0 -
Thana has always needed a buff.
I think they should do it.
5 -
Which is good for Plague if that happens.
4 -
20s of wall hacks. 20s to potentially make gens take nearly two minutes. This is not balance. Huntress does not get 10 hatchets, Deathslinger does not get his hitbox doubled in size, Trickster doesn't get 88 knives. Never-Sleep Pills is completely broken and it's training wheels.
4 -
Just to get immediately reinfected through saving a fully infected survivor, working on an infected gen (with infection times that can exceed more than a minute with add-ons), or being found again by the Plague. Eventually leading to being uncounterably injured again. Man, is Plague fair and fun!
2 -
I main her and it’s always cracks me up when survivors cleanse only to get reinfected 2 seconds later.
0 -
Yup! I’ll take it
0 -
Yeah, the Thana buff is not something you can ignore, even 2%.
Now
80 c / (1 - 0.05 c/s) = 84.21 s
80 c / (1 - 0.10 c/s) = 88.89 s
80 c / (1 - 0.15 c/s) = 94.12 s
80 c / (1 - 0.20 c/s) = 100.00 s
Post Patch
90 c/ (1 - 0.055 c/s) = 95.24 s
90 c/ (1 - 0.110 c/s) = 101.12 s
90 c/ (1 - 0.165 c/s) = 107.78 s
90 c/ (1 - 0.220 c/s) = 115.38 s
Welp, more Vommy for me then haha.

Who plays Plague nowadays? Most Killers are only purchased to have the perks and eventually stay there unused except for new players or noob players (these that will give the hatch or gates free to even more noob Survivors).
0 -
I play Plague 😁
1 -
Dammit, I played it to at times, screw me I even play Twins at times... but I always repent.
Twins were good when I purchased them, few weeks later, nerf.
0 -
It's alright on most killers and only strong on Plague and Legion. Another 2% slowdown at full stacks isn't much of a buff. Also even with his best addons Legion is still low-tier.
0 -
Same here I love Vommy Mommy..I think the only Killer I don't play is Trapper because let's face it unless you play sweaty try hard as him he's just a joke
0 -
Why are you speaking as if Thana is even meta? Before the buff there are much better slowdown options on most killers and even after the buff it's still gonna be only decent on most killers.
1 -
thanatophobia in its current state is a “progression bar cosmetic” as I put it, I think it does infact need a buff
3 -
Four stacks of Thana should make gens three minutes. Agreed.

I watched this one pretty popular streamer play Legion after their buff. The only two add-ons he ran were Never-Sleep Pills and Mural Sketch. Every match played out the same. He'd get an early Frenzy down and the match would become a 1v3 before three gens were completed. After the first survivor was eliminated, he would still try for a Frenzy down but never get it (you don't need to go for another Frenzy down after one survivor is eliminated and it's basically throwing the match if you try). At that point he would start complaining that the match is becoming too sweaty and he's not going to win. But, the fact is that he would never run Legion optimally, probably to keep viewers engaged. He didn't run stacked slowdown. Optimal Legion is Never-Sleep Pills, Mural Sketch, and stacked slowdown, starting with Thana. Legion is not low-tier with that build. It's 20s of wall hacks, plus 20 seconds added to gens after the update. What more does one need?
1 -
Wanna talk about plague ?
1 -
It's only 2%, but at the same time the whole point of this new update is to make killers less slowdown reliant. With DH gone, genspeeds slowed down and chases sped up, we should ensure slowdown perks don't feel mandatory, and that you can bring other perks too and not lose instantly.
So out of principle I think we should keep it at 20%. It's only 2.8 seconds extra on max level but still. Weaker slowdown, faster chases is what I want.
0 -
Legion is still m1, so in said match even if legion has momentum, any chase against someone decent with DH should be enough for the team to reset, and do a gen or at least 70% if slowdown is at play.
Looping legion is probably one of he easiest things in this game, if they went down to a non-frenzied legion in less than a minute, they are not good at the game.
0 -
It will, in fact, by exactly 10% better, not ten times better.
People acting like Thanataphobia just magically appeared from nowhere and that Legion hasn't been running it for years.
0 -
This guy gets it

Thana only really becomes problematic when combined with other slowdowns, and that isn't really thana's fault. After the patch combined with an extra 50 seconds of gen time, buffed thana, buffed gift of pain + 2 other gen defense perks I can see plagues and legions becoming really obnoxious. It's not old forever freddy levels of obnoxious, but it could be close.
0 -
Lol @ all the people in here saying Thana is weak cause its only good on 2 killers (Plague and Legion), same could be said about 90% of the other perks. Like is Iron Maiden weak just cause its only good on Huntress and Trickster? No? Oh...
3 -
On new gens or old gens? Cause if it was old gens I never even noticed a thing, hell barely even noticed a difference, the only killer that really benefits from it is Legion, and its a niche perk on everyone else
0 -
Dead Hard is no longer relevant. This is a multiplayer game. 20s of wall hacks and stacked slowdown is anti-competitive.
1 -
This is devil's advocate on so many levels.
We want some form of decent gens slowdown. We want games to last longer so they're not a gen rush fest. We want perks that reward killers for injuring multiple people to work, so that they go for multiple chases instead of camp and tunnel. It's not a terrible idea to have a perk that only works for certain killers, like Spirit and Stridor or like Huntress and Bitter Murmur. Thana is mostly good on Legion and Twins, who will not be seen at top level anyway. So what's the big idea?
0 -
Lol, you just sound like someone who just doesn't know how to play against a legion and just wants to loop them and play against them like a trapper. You probably also want all killers to be the same and be able to loop them all the same instead of learning how to play around with their weaknesses. Also, news flash DbD isn't really supposed to be a super competitive game... Stop trying to turn this game in some e-sport game :P
2 -
It's not a competitive game. It's not a balanced game. It's not a balanced game because 20 seconds of wall hacks makes a game imbalanced and anti-competitive. I've already said this. I do not sweat at this game. If someone thinks 20 secods of wall hacks is balanced, there you find the sweatlord. There you find the one who wants an unfair game. lol

I just find it tragic that not only is Thana getting buffed, but the gens are ALSO getting slowed down on top of that. Games are going to be so long.
3 -
Solo survivors are about to be the Skyrim villagers not smart enough to run indoors when the dragon inevitably attacks.

How can four stacks of Thana make gens three minutes? If you're complaining about Pentimento stacked with Thana stacked with Gift of Pain there are a couple of issues with that.
First off, to get Pentimento a totem has to be cleansed and the Killer has just used three perk slots for Thana, Penti and Gift of Pain which leaves one slot for a hex perk that will get survivors to cleanse. The most likely choice is Plaything. So, there are two options here and both of which are better than having Penti up with many gens remaining:
(A) Cleanse the Penti totem
(B) Rotate your camera angle to watch for the Killer and don't cleanse Plaything
The other stack that is necessary for those gen times is Gift of Pain. If this is in play this means you cleansed against Plague or healed against Legion. If so, the survivors are throwing the game for the Killer. Don't cleanse against Plague and don't heal against Legion.
Now, of course, people will say 'But my teammates!!!' for solo queue which, of course, will happen but what you are describing is something that already happens. The stacking I just described already exists in game pre patch, there are counters to it, and the 10% buff to Thana is literally only 1.8 seconds more per gen solely from the buff. The 1.8 seconds extra is not a major issue.
It's a strong combo for Legion and Plague but the downside of it is the best way to negate it is to play efficiently against Legion and Plague. Legion and Plague want to see people heal and cleanse respectively since it makes their game stronger and all Killers want to see people cleanse Plaything if they have Penti because it's a guaranteed slowdown either from Penti or from having to cleanse a Hex totem.
Don't do what the Killers want you to do if you want to escape; do what helps you.
0 -
As a solo queue gamer I fully expect to not escape any of my games after the update ngl.
3 -
Thanatophobia is already a strong perk. 20% slowdown is not something you can just ignore. The problem is, that only 2 killers can use it effectively. But why they'd buff it is beyond me.
0 -
Actually, a 20% reduction being increased to a 22% reduction is 2.56% better due to how percentage reduction works 🤓
