Spine Chill is better againts Stealth killers now
It will tell you 100% of the time that the killer is near you. No hidding your camera, walking backwards, nothing. I thought the perk got super nerfed and Its trash but now Its pretty solid choice for anyone who dislike stealth killers haha.

Yea but it gives you info when killer is looking at you, aka stalking every single time so nothing changed for GF and myers, if anything its somehow worse lmao

As someone who used Spine Chill in 99% of my games since 2016 I have to say : nope.
You always knew what the killer was doing based on your light activity. Most of the time I never looked behind me in chases because SC was looking for me.

You're looking at the wrong part.
"Get notified when the killer is within a 36-meter range."
The perk lights up when the killer isn't even in terror radius range, and it doesn't matter if they're looking at you or not. That's better than the old effect, when they had to be looking in your direction. Also the speed boost lasts longer as it lingers for a few seconds after they turn away. It's a straight up buff in every aspect.
It has an additional effect of providing a visual indication of terror radius strength as well, but that's superfluous information designed to help hard of hearing players.

In some ways the change is actually kind of a benefit to solo survivor teams. There's plenty of SC users who would immediately jump off a gen and run if SC went off, even if the killer was ages away, which inadvertently helped killers by ensuring less time was spent on a gen. Now it goes off when the killer is within a certain range of the survivor, so the survivors are no longer prematurely leaving the gen.

Spine Chill always had a 36 meter range.

But you still get a notification if the killer is facing your direction. The buff icon indicating the increased speed.
Old Spine Chill: Tells you if a killer is within 36 AND facing your direction, but only if both are true.
New Spine Chill: Tells you simultaneously if killer is; within 36m, and/or facing your direction, and/or the strength of their terror radius, giving you a more precise distance measurement.

Ah ok. Never used it and had no idea. So it didn't really change much at all aside from the line of sight thing then

36m isnt that big, if it lights up, safe to assume killer is coming for you
0 -
No, 36 IS big... but now the killer can be looking at someone else, and you can be behind the killer and it will still light up
1 -
It makes it literally IMPOSSIBLE for stealth killers to ever sneak up on you, now. No counterplay to it.
6 -
You used to be able to counter it by looking away. Now the moment you're within 36 meters, the survivor instantly knows you're there. No way to counter the effect, at all. This makes it literally impossible for a stealth killer (who has problem as it is) to ever, EVER catch you off guard.
4 -
It also affects stealth perks like Plaything. What is the point of being undetectable if a survivor can detect that you are within 36m. That range itself is usually small and if it remains lit up for a few seconds, the killer is definitely coming to that survivor's area.

I really, really miss that vaulting boost. Is there a perk with a vaulting boost that I'm unaware of?
0 -
It also had a few boosts it would give when active. I always used it for the vaulting boost, myself. They took away the boosts.
0 -
Yeah idk how they thought that was a good idea. Moonwalking with the old version of SC was awkward, sure, but it was counterplay. Now there's 0 counter for stealth killers.
Resilience still increases vaulting speed while injured, that's your only option now though.

The detection is only supposed to activate if the terror radius is on.

Are y’all forgetting the perk is bugged right now? It’s not supposed to fully light up the moment the killer is in range. It’s supposed get increasingly more filled in as the TR gets more intense.
what happened to my keyboard holy-

I did say the perk was fine as is.

Not according to the new patch notes. The 36 meter radius is separate from the terror radius, now. It's a completely new buff to the perk. It's completely separate from the terror radius (as they wouldn't have made a 36 meter range if it was only supposed to be based on terror radius). Essentially, running Spinechill now provided you with a guaranteed "I'm safe" bubble of 36 meters. Can work on a gen without the need to look around, know if it's safe to unhook, know you're fine grabbing that totem or unlocking that chest, know you're safe to hop out of that locker. That in itself is useful, but it completely invalidates and breaks stealth killers, as it's literally impossible for them to ever sneak up and get the jump on you. It's a problem - and it appears to be intended.
An unnatural tingle warns you of impending doom.
- Whenever the Killer
- is within 36 metres of your location, Spine Chill activates, lighting up its icon.
- If there is a Terror Radius
- present, Spine Chill will reveal its intensity using its icon.
Notice it says IF there is a terror radius, it will also let you know exactly HOW close they are, but the 36 meters is a guaranteed alarm bell regardless of if there is a terror radius.

The idea was to help hard of hearing players. I guess I'll try the perk next.

That was the idea, but then out of the blue they buffed it into a perk that completely dismantled stealth killers entirely. They simply cannot sneak up anymore.

Good. I think that is fair.

If it's a known bug then why isn't it listed in the Bug Reporting list?
The description clearly states "When the Killer is within 36 metres of your location, Spine Chill activates, lighting up its icon."
Sounds like they intended it to be this way.
IE Broken AF.

This. I keep getting hit through windows

It's funny how many of the meta survivor perks got reworked to be the same or better than they were.
And considering how much Sky-Is-Falling there is over the 3-4 that actually ARE worse than they used to be, just imagine if ALL the meta survivor perks had been nerfed (like how all of the killer meta perks got treated)

Aye, and that is very scary. They seriously need to change this.

lol I must admit as surv who used spine chill before, its purpose and usage hasn't changed at all u get the notif whilst on a gen, hide for 20 seconds, come back and stop the gen regressing and repeat its great I rlly thought the update was gna stop its stealth use

Borrowed Time went up by 50% and gained 7% speed.
Spine Chill doesn't detect from a distance but now killers can't evade it, making it way stronger vs stealth
Dead Hard doesn't give immediate distance anymore, but when it does absorb a hit, it makes you way faster for way longer, letting you get to a new tile instead of merely to the closest pallet.
We're Gonna Live Forever lost the BP but gained a new power.
Self-Care, Decisive Strike, and Iron Will all got objectively worse, it's true. But those others got new applications (or just straight-out better, in BT's case).
Meanwhile, BBQ, Corrupt, Ruin, Pop, Tinkerer, NOED, and Pain Resonance all got objectively worse without gaining any compensation, new application, or stat buffs.

BT wasn't META. It was pretty much a requirement to try to get a chance after being unhooked.
SC is in a temporary state. It will go back to useless eventually.
WGLF META?

BT wasn't META
lmao cool
its kinda silly how people claim it was absolutely mandatory and nobody ever did well without it and yet don't think that makes it meta?
1 -
META because it was the only way to counter a vicious behavior from killer?
When you went into a trial where the killer didn't camp you felt you wasted a perk slot..

Why can’t whispers be buffed to help hard of hearing killers, guess only impaired players can only play survivor.

it is reported, last point in the "known issue" of the patch note
I haven't used SC since the patch, but I have to assume that if you are undetectable the perk will never "light up" (aside for when they are looking at you with no obstacles)
