Patch impressions:

To preface this post: I play whatever side has the shortest queue times. Before the patch this was like 70% killer but I haven't touched killer since the update. It's bizzare to me that people have such strong preference for one side or the other; I literally don't care. I love DBD and I almost always have fun with it regardless of role.

So. The stuff that has changed.

MATCHMAKING : It's felt off since the update. I think I'm getting killers closer to my skill level which is very average, but also a hell of a lot more nurses. I used to see like maybe two nurses a month but now it's every third game. Literally the only killer I hate and will not play against. Haven't seen a single legion which is a bummer.

PERK CHANGES: Been seeing a lot of variety which is nice. More aura reading perks than perviously. I started running Circle of Healing and Shadowstep. Been getting massive Shadowstep value since most of the aforementioned nurses run floods of rage. Been getting good saboteur value, denying scourges is great fun. Buffed botany is incredible. I never ran any meta perks before cuz they felt unfair so I cannot comment on them.

BASE BT: Love it. It's gotten me out several games I wouldn't have otherwise. People say it's inconsequential but that's not been my experience. I've found it extremely helpful. Makes it much more difficult for artist to camp with crows and if you get hooked nearish a gate in the end game it makes it much easier to get out.

REGRESSION PERKS: Pretty good! Not having to check for ruin immediately every game is very nice. Even if they do have it, it's inconsequential. Seen it maybe twice since the patch and just did all the gens through it. It does nothing. The gen kicking perks have not been an issue outside of three gens, which is when they are very rough. But three gens are always difficult to deal with so whatever. I have gotten hellaciously good at overcharge skill checks. Iron will is also still good, just can't run it with an exhaustion perk.

GEN SPEED: I'll be honest here. The longer gens feel kind of bad. You can definitely notice it and it's cost me a fair few gens that got interrupted at 90%. I think base weaker corrupt would have been a much more interesting way to do it.

Overall great patch. Been enjoying it a great deal, many of the low tier perks I run were buffed. I suspect much of the outcry is from people who run the same 3-4 perks every game. Which is boring. Don't be boring. Run distortion, run fast track and stake out. Mess around and have fun.

I have the same experience as you except I was already using boon perks. I love them.

"I love DBD and I almost always have fun with it regardless of role."

I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment. I've only been playing since right before Blight was released so I'm perhaps not as burnt out as those that have 4-6 years, but I get bummed by the constant us vs. them debates on the forums.

are you really seeing a lot of variety on perks?

The only thing I see changing is the exaustion perk. Sometimes its overcome, sometimes it's SB and other times the one you jump off a window and run.

The rest you can count is OTR, BT and adrenaline.

They felt very oppressive to me as killer so I never ran them. With the buffs to killer I don't really feel bad about it anymore and they are a lot of fun. Feeling like you have magic powers is cool and I've had a couple killers DC cuz I kept relighting the same boon as soon as they stomp it. Pretty funny!

It's crazy how negative this community is toward a game that is essentially casual and designed for fun at the core of it. Sometimes I get stressed as killer or tilted, but it's not a big deal. Put on a meme build and reque. Folks have to chill out.

I agree like 100%. I thought I was mad at regression perks at the beginning of patch, but was really just having to get used to the longer gen speeds. Been enjoying the patch after getting more acquainted with it 😅

Honestly I have not paid a great deal of attention to my fellow survivor's perks and I've not played killer since the update. OTR is more common but I've also seen many survivors forsaking exhausting perks altogether. That might just be my MMR though.

Depends on MMR probably. I've been seeing a lot of distortion, prove thyself and adrenaline. Also been seeing some straight up totem eating builds and some vaulting things too. If your tired of the repetitive perks- dont worry both sides are. Be the person that switches it up and tries some weird ######### if you wana have a good time.

    I loved swithing it up

    I loved using these:

And go around the map, getting good items and giving them to the other survivors

but can I affort to do that now? with gens taking 100+ seconds to complete? I can't, I have to bring the best perks now, otherwise my team is not escaping.

There's absolutely no way you were consistently winning with this build. I run the same one for funsies with pharmacy and it's not a game winner. Very cute and fun but you're just dead weight on your team. I've yet to see these mythical 100s gens that are in every game except mine, apparently.

that's the thing tho, I didn't win consistently and that wasn't a problem at all

it was a 50/50 situation, it depended on a lot of variants.

but I could do it cause by doing so I could still help my fellow survivors

now I can't afford to not do gens for the entire match, cause if I don't no one leaves.

The Artist 'crow camping' i don't get, it's just clever power usage. And if it negates OTR, no reason not to do it. And if you're purposely healing under hook against an Artist after unhooking, that's on you and your teammate as well. Assuming you mean this as an example.

Other than that, been seeing a lot of Saboteur, Balanced landing, head on, boons, a few pebbles (lol) and most of the old meta that's not DS or IW.

Gens would be fine, they did nerf all the good regression perks so it may take longer in one go but less overall through pops, etc.

The biggest impact is honestly the random teams you get in solo Q and it makes it quite clear mmr isn't working. When the games match properly they're actually good games and I definitely feel the change in a good way as survivor

This is much more clever than what I'm talking about. I've frequently seen artists place a crow as close as allowed , facing the hook and do a short patrol around while still being able to pressure it. It's rather scummy and I'm glad to see it be more difficult.
