You don't even need kills

I've been playing a killer to see how much I can get without killing anyone. 0k I'm still getting my 8 hooks without the last one to kill anyone, I'm pulling in 32,500 BP, so from where I'm sitting by not killing anyone I'm not actually losing anything. Just making it fun for everyone else in the game, because if I kill them they walk away with 8, 9, 13,16k. This way they get around 25k and I get my 32k, and everyone has fun.

I'd rather the killer try to eliminate me than farm points.

The thrill of the hunt is exciting and that's fun, farming points is rather dull.

Also getting killed in game doesn't upset me because its a game about trying to survive a slasher flick

In a good slasher flick survival should be hard fought, perilous and questionable at best. So should a good game of DBD.

There is nothing wrong with how you want to play, but if being chased in game then I want it to be exciting and the threat of elimination makes it just that.

While you may not need the kills, the game needs the kills because otherwise what are you trying to escape from in the first place?

Well you can play that way, but your MMR will end up (or stay) near the bottom and you'll just end up toying with the surv team, and not ever getting any better.

And I don't know about you, but I like a bit of challenge, and it doesn't feel great when you're being toyed with on the other side. It kind of feels like pity/charity.

I'd prefer that my opponent have fun, but as a rule I don't like holding back all the time. I will goof and mess around from time to time, and I rarely sweat (I almost never will slug for 4K, etc.), but 90% of the time I'm making some sort of an effort to kill everyone. Wouldn't feel right otherwise.

Oh I'm not saying there shouldn't be the threat of it, I just mean back a few patches ago if you didn't get kills you would have no BP at all, you'd end up with like 13k but now you get your full 32k even without em.

If that's the way you like to play more power to you.

And likewise I won't presume to dictate to anyone how to play their game, and I think your heart is absolutely in the right place, but I would at least consider the following:

    1. Mercy as a practice isn't helping your opponents get any better, which can lead to #2:
    2. Sparing survs all the time will artificially inflate their MMR, which may lead to them hitting a wall of demoralization when they run into killers who aren't going to let them escape, and will likely just mercilessly body them. So trading fun now for pain later, maybe.

There's a big gray area between throwing someone in deep end and never helping them out of the kiddie pool, between coddling and ruthlessness, and good intentions my lead to a worse overall experience.

    But to each their own.

Honestly, If see cakes, flans are party streamers I go for 8 hooks usually. Exceptions being a survivor showing their arse… then I’ll go for 9.

I have noticed the same. I try to kill them but do not fret if they escape because I usually have earned plenty of BP.

There are occasional 2 hook games against gods (pre-patch), but in general putting on a good show pays well.

Kills are kind of the object of the game so I kind of want to get them. 🤷‍♂️

But the challenges say I have to kill six survivors and the Claudette cosmetic in the rift says I have no choice in the matter and must obey the challenges.

You may not need kills but survivors do need kills, what's fun in playing pvp games you can't lose lol

Well I killed all survivors in my last match. But last 2 survivors still got 36K and 33K bp. That match was long though and I let them wiggle out multiple times my grasp so yeah it's still possible to get lot of bp as survivor even if you die.

I go for full try hard mode if I see flans survivlrs try to gen rush very hard usually so I don't go easy on them I still usually let last 2 escape if match goes well for me.

I played skill check doctor build with overcharge, and I'm a doctor main so I know how to handle myself. I identified my 3 gen early on and got control of the game, just shocking people into madness and only hooking when it was an incredibly easy chase. I could have made that game last all day.

I had a good time making people insane.

Yea but some people aren't playing to get better, they're just playing to have fun. For the hardcore it's not doing them any favors except just leveling them.

And you don't even need escapes

it's true, if you loop around and get like light saves, and do chests and totems you can get like 25k in just other objectives.

BHVR needs to fix their game. I enjoy the mechanics of killer, the powers and stuff, but killing is unrewarding as the hook animation is lackluster, and survivors get a very large chunk of their BP from escaping. That shouldn't be the case at all, survivors should get points for participating and winning should be its own reward. When I know that killing a survivor rewards me with next to no BP but takes 5k+ away from them, I just don't enjoy it. Knowing that ruins my fun.

I mean, there's more to it than that. A lot of other things factor in. I play on PS4 and Switch, performance issues on the Switch mean playing killer "seriously" is miserable, the simplest act of trying to hit a survivor is super frustrating, so I have to make my own fun there. If I can get some amusing moments with my zombies, then that makes me happy.

Part of the problem is that DbD has all these unique elements that draw in players, but then a lot of those players don't enjoy the elimination part of the game. That leads to conflicts because playstyles and goals don't mesh. The elimination part is one side's goal, yet a lot of players on both sides seem to view it as "optional" simply because they don't enjoy that aspect. It's weird if you think about it, but you can see that very thing in this thread. Even I seem to be that way, which is dumb, I'm playing an elimination game but would ditch the elimination part in a heartbeat if given the opportunity. Or maybe I'd be okay with the elimination part if it were handled better.

In terms of matchmaking... MMR never seems to work properly in my matches. As both killer and survivor, the skill levels of the players in my lobbies are a total crapshoot.

That's an amusingly succinct way to put it, I like that. 👍️

I used to say about the same thing but more in terms of BP. Once they're dead I can't farm BP off them anymore. lol

iirc, I've managed to get a little over 35k BP with double-hooking and no kills.

Wish there were more people playing killers like u to be honest. Even thou alot of Killer mains will hate me for saying that. I say it for one main reason: farming more than 10-15 bloodpoints as the survivor has gotten to the point where it is almost impossible in alot of matches cause killers kill u too fast and than instead of u both gaining alot of bloodpoints by them prolonging the match and making it go longer. They end up being the only ones who get big bloodpoint gains.

Which than makes it take forever as a survivor to get thru bloodwebs and prestige ur characters. That is why I'm always happy to go against killers who allow u a good bloodpoint farm before killing u.
