They never promised grind would just disappear

Although it may not be the idealistic 75% less that was claimed, I have to say I don't feel the heavy grind-ache that used to accompany this game.
Congrats to BHVR for taking action to address the grindy problem. It isn't a perfect solution, but it is noticeably better.
Thanks!

its actually noticibly worse for some people, depending on what their priorities in the grind were. Killers who need specific addons got hurt a lot more than helped, since addons are consumables and thus require a lot more replenishment. Same with any survivors who preferred specific items/addons. At the very minimum they're spending 20k in monopoly monies every time they reach level 50, and getting rewarded with their next 41ish bloodwebs being pathetically low quality.
Like usual, they overlooked things and people tried to warn them, but they did it anyway and said they'll fix it later. We have zero idea how many days/weeks/months/years it will take, and many are worse off than they were because of it.

I feel like grind was reduced, if only because I could prestige a bunch of characters pre update and unlock all their perks when 6.1. hit and made them P3.
But at the same time, it's a bit harder for me to get points as survivor (newer players will be newer players, and die a lot more now). It doesn't help that it feels like any time someone brings a cake or flan in a game, the bonus I could have is instantly negated by the killer tunneling all game.
So yeah, grinding as killer is viable and more efficient than pre patch. As survivor, a bit less so, at least in my experience.

It's definitely a lot better, since spreading perks across characters got noticeably easier.
I think the next step is to just give players more bloodpoints. On the PTB you got like, a million BP per day, and on there it was really obvious that if you have bloodpoints to spare it greases the wheels to make the system function near-perfectly.
Obviously players shouldn't need that much again, but better score events, more avenues for extra BP, and other such tools would be an ideal next step to help this system flourish.

It's literally worse for me. I had to prestige mikeala to get her perks when formerly I would have just gotten her to level 40 or whatever. Then I had to find and upgrade them in my bloodweb just like teachables. Feels awful.

The new system is much better I like it.

to think, the acceptable answer to that is to "just" do another 100 bloodwebs on that one character. that way they'll be level 3 for everyone else!
The change was done to get survivors to stop p0L40ing everyone and just dumping all the teachables on a single survivor, while simultaneously crushing killer addon variety. All they had to do was remove perk tiers.

I've been playing killer for at least a couple of hours, queue times have not been terrible, around a couple of minutes, I have accumulated the fantastic amount of..283000 bloodpoints
I used to gain that much in what, 5 matches? Maybe 6?
They reduced the grind a little bit (mainly on the killer side) but they massively, MASSIVELY cut down bp earnings by removing the bonus from BBQ and WGLF

Since you have to grind through trash bloodwebs in order to get the stuff you want players will inevitably end up with way more lower rarity addons and items than they used to. That's fine for killers like demo who's best addons are lower tier, but what about doctor who is very unpleasant to play without shock delay addons? It also unfairly hurts killers who's iri and purple add-ons are key to their viability. Imagine going through 50 levels of bloodweb and not getting a single iri remote? Absolutely devastating. I want to use the stuff that makes the game fun more often than once every thirty games, especially with the RNG inherent to dead by daylight.

Pretty sure you can still learn teachable perks can you not ?

Ya, that's what I did. It's in the post. Unfortunately in order to get the teachables I had to prestige and then go unlock them on the survivor I actually play. It's literally worse than the old system.

yep, but you also are forced to prestige (and pay 20k to do it) at level 50, when previously you could stay at 50 and get 2 perks per web. on top of having better rarity distribution for all nodes.

Okay?
I wouldn't be against adjusting the rarity scaling for post-prestige, but the worst case scenario is that some killers now have an addon grind where one never existed before. That doesn't mean that the current system isn't quite good at reducing the grind that already existed and caused problems before.

It merely redirected the grind. It's sleight of hand.
0 -
Not really, it reduced the grind very noticeably and then as a side effect, introduced a much more minor grind of a completely different type that only affects a handful of killers. That's not a redirection, and it's definitely not sleight of hand since it doesn't seem intentional.
The actual grind - IE, spreading perks across multiple characters - absolutely got reduced. There being another thing that needs addressing doesn't take away from that.

That grind is a temporary one. At some point a new player will have all the perks they want and need and are still left grinding for items and addons, many of which are just as useful as any given perk. If one skips the perks for a couple killer releases then they'll be right back where they began on the bloodweb treadmill with little overall gains.
The system is a poor one, I suspect by design.

Hard disagree. They absolutely are better off if they skip the perks for a couple killer releases, because all the perks they've already unlocked are unlocked by default on those new killers before a single bloodpoint is spent. That's an improvement over the old system!
I disagree that this is a poor system but I really disagree that it's by design. Come on, what do they gain from doing this poorly? It's a full blown conspiracy mindset.

Although I still appreciate the changes made, you make a good point about Bloodweb offerings being "trash". BHVR never said anything about carrying over the slightly better chances you had to get better add-ons when progressing to P2 or P3 but it appears they took that away. It seemed insignificant at the time and I questioned as to whether the old Bloodweb add-on boosts made any difference, but I am seeing a glaring quality degradation in what that Bloodweb offers to me now.

Yep, this

The problem is that the new grind is significantly worse.
