Carry and Check Out gimmick build

Just making a mental note to myself to try a gimmick build out I was thinking of today so I don’t forget. 🙂

Carry and Check Out

  • Agitation - improved carry speed
  • Thrilling Tremors - See auras of generators being worked on while carrying and block ones that aren’t
  • Hangman’s Trick - See auras of survivors near hooks while carrying survivors and get alerts of sabotages
  • BBQ and Chili - Get auras of all survivors at long distance immediately after a hook

So basically the idea is after a down, pick the person up and immediately look around for where to head to next. It’ll hopefully either be a generator being worked on with Thrilling or someone near a hook with Hangman’s. Then use Agitation to carry the person as close as possible to the desired next chase and hook them. Or if there’s no indication from those two perks, just hook ASAP and let BBQ show you where to head.

Just have to be careful with no slowdown to use that info for quick pressure. Hypothetically you could also replace Agitation with Pain Resonance or some other slow down if you really want it. 🤷‍♂️ Probably will work best with a killer with good map mobility like Dredge, Sadako, Blight, Hillbilly, Freddy, etc.

Got to try it out a couple of times with Oni today. It was ok, I messed up my chases though so some survivors escaped (my Oni charges need work). 🤷‍♂️ I swapped out Agitation for Lethal Pursuer and used his red add-on that makes survivor auras appear when they step on blood and combined with the other auras it was a lot of information the whole match. 🙂

Hangman's Trick was really the only disappointing entry, I'm not sure I got much info from it while carrying anybody. That 6 meter radius just seems like it's too small to get pings unless you get a little lucky. I mean, it's kind of comparable to Dredge's new Darkness Revealed perk in the sense of it gives auras near random locations scattered across the entire map (Hangman's trick has a 6m radius while Darkness Revealed has an 8m radius, but there are a lot more hooks than lockers on a map so it's a bit of a wash in terms of total area covered.) But since you can activate Darkness Revealed up to once every 30 seconds at will but can only activate Hangman's Trick while carrying someone you potentially can get a lot more activations of the former compared to the latter.

I wish Hangman's Trick was either activated automatically every 20-30 seconds or it had a larger radius (or both). As is it's a perk that seems like it would have potential with better parameters but feels like a waste of a slot a lot of the time. 😔

Anyway, Hangman's Trick being kind of meh aside, the loadout seems ok! I just need to play better next time I use it. 😄

Cool write-up. You made me think about Hangmans Trick, as I never, ever equipped this perk outside of my Adapt Pig run.

I don't have much to add to your musings save one thought: there is literally no way in which a survivor, who isn't running Distortion, can counter or evade Hangmans Trick or figure out that you're using it. This is just a small advantage, but at least something.

BBQ can be found out if you bee-line after a hook to a distant part of the map.

Darkness Revealed might give itself away if you get witnessed randomly checking lockers.

Even Spies in the Shadows might tick someone off when you suddenly develop eyes in the back of your head and turn around to stare at a survivor.

But Hangmans has no such telltale sign, so survivors might never actively avoid the proximity of hooks, for whatever its worth it.
