Helping Other Solo Que Players
Alright, this is not a place for "boo hoo solo que" or any of that negative nonsense so if you're here to spew that I kindly ask that you either leave now or just don't comment.
Instead of complaining for the 47,840,264th thread, can we give advice, tips, builds, perks w.e to help solo que players and survivors in general adapt to the patch; and no that doesn't mean tell them "get a swf or stop playing".
Yes solo struggles more than SWF, but plenty of people are doing fine overall in survivor rn, we should be trying to help others do the the same.
Yes solo needs some kind of base information, but lets do what we can in the meantime. We can't fix bad teammates, but we can try to not be one of those bad teammates ourselves. The more we help others learn the less bad teammates we will have.
To get what are, in my opinion, the 3 biggest points rn:
- Do not DC just because you don't like the match please, you're ruining the game for everyone.
- Please actually try, You can still win a game even if it has a bad start. 1 or 2 good chases is all your team needs to make a comeback
- Accept that the match may not go your way. It's a PvP game and you have random teammates with varying skill levels and playstyles. It's gonna happen. If you que up, please play out the match.
Perks:
- OTR - basically mandatory, people aren't running BT any more because OTR exist.
- Exhaustion Perks - this isn't new, exhaustion is still the meta. If you can't time DH use Lithe or SB.
- DS - Make sure you plan your down for DS. Go down where you know you can make it to a window or pallet. Pair with OTR and lithe for example, unhooked, OTR, downed near window, DS, Lithe away. Use it like old DH, to extend the chase by getting to a strong pallet/window.
- Info perks - We know the drill, kindred, bond, empathy, blood pact, whatever you feel helps you gather the most information possible on your team and what they are doing. If you see someone running assume they are in chase unless proven otherwise.
- CoH - You have unlimited healing for you and your team. Blendette too scared to heal you? Go set up a med station. Don't bring this if you do not know totem spawns very well. You'll waste too much time looking for the totem.
- Self-care + botonny - Do not run self care without botonny. Otherwise it's fine. Healing yourself is paramount, and healing in general is very strong. Even if its a little slower than normal.
- Left Behind - if you really don't have faith in your teammates, this will give you at least something when they all die. It might not be the exit gate but hatch is better than dying. Can be paired with a key to good effect, just make sure you have a way to heal yourself.
Items:
- Med-kits - That's it. You need to be able to heal yourself when the Meg who unhooked you and SB's away won't or when you just can't find your teammates.
- Toolbox - if you are using a healing perk, this is the next best item. Save your toolbox for the end of a match where you need the speed the most as the killer's patrol gets much tighter as well as having more pressure.
General tips:
- Spread out at the beginning of the match. If you see someone get on that gen you spawned on, go across the map. Also counters Legion as a bonus.
- Try to avoid a 3 gen as much as possible. Pay attention to where gens are popping. In my experience, it's better to leave a 50% gen and start another than to 3 gen yourself. Try to split the gens on either side of the map, do the ones in the middle of the map first not the ones near the edge.
- If you're concerned about camping and are not running info perks, this is probably the hardest one because it really is a case of the lesser of 2 evils. My suggestion is to do not go for the save unless you notice the killer chasing someone else or see someone else getting injured. Its a risk, but its better to risk the struggle phase than give the killers what they want if they are camping and making the situation worse. Best bet however is really running kindered.
- If you are being camped, please save as much time as possible for your team. I know it sucks but your entire hook states are worth a 1 1/2 gens for each teammate, not to mention the time you earned in chase.
- ^ same for being tunneled, do your best for your team. OTR + DS + exhaustion is very good for this
- If you suspect a teammate is being tunneled, try and body block for them. Getting in the killer's way at bottle neck/chokepoint such as a pallet or doorway can save your teammate a lot of time. Be careful not to block your teammate by accident.
- Do not be selfish with your hook states. If you have not been hooked and everyone else on your team has, go body block, get the killers attention (in a healthy way, don't t-bag and click please), just try and get the pressure off your team. Your chances of escape go down drastically once a member of your team is gone. Be selfish selflessly. Your best chance of wining in this situation is getting chased by the killer, do not be scared.
Thank you and good luck in your games. I know its rough right now, the bad teammates and DCs are really giving a lot of our fellow community members a hard time, but if you're still willing to play, I hope this helps, even just a little bit.
If not, well, I tried. Just trying to help some fellow gamers out.
