Holding Game Hostage?
Hi. I played agaisnt a Myers who got all 5 gens done. After that, he body blocked me in a corner, while the other 3 survivors were alive. The EGC wasn't active. Nevertheless, they could have opened the exit gate and leave, but they waited a really long time before leaving (around 20 minutes). Is the killer guilty of holding the game hostage? Should i report him (with the ticket)? He explained in the post game chat that if he hooked me i would eventually escape (the only hook was in front of the gate) so i was unsure to report him or not. I have a recording of the gameplay. Thanks.

Well blocking you in a corner is a hostage offense but so is survivors refusing to open the gates tbh....but to answer your question yes that is a offense

90% sure body blocking by the killer without attempting to injure/down the survivor is reportable.
100% sure it's a scumbag move and if that's the only way for them to secure a kill, give it up. They lost and need to move on.

I had a video of a Freddy holding me hostage from 3 gens to the end of EGC and was told it wasn't holding the game hostage because I would eventually die because of EGC... To be clear, the other survivors took like 11 minutes if I recall open the gates because they were trying to get the Freddy to let me free.
So basically, Enjoy your gameplay experience....

The killer (or even another survivor) blocking a survivor in a corner for more than a minute or so where they are unable to participate in normal gameplay, and is before EGC, is absolutely griefing, and holding the game hostage. Being concerned that a player will escape is not a reason to keep them in that situation and out of gameplay.
Along with the required in-game report, you can send a ticket with the video to Support: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new if you are struggling to upload the video straight to the ticket, you can upload it to YouTube (mark as unlisted), and link it in the ticket where it asks for a description of what happened. For more on the Game Rules and reporting, we have all that info here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules

Yes, is the killers fault even though survivors also held the game hostage. But if gates were opened, magically it would not be a hostage situation. Just send it in and they will ban that sucker.

This is merely a question, but just for this OPs instance, would bodyblocking him like this have been any more special from the usual miserable things that killers do to secure kills?
I'm just giving this Mikey the benefit of the doubt here, but from his POV all the survivors had to do was open the door, and depending on how far this survivor was from the Gate, they'd just kill them normally or wait out the EGC. And any normal group of survivors would open the gate once they realized the killer has secured the 1K. This killer just happened to try this strat against a team of poor sports.

Understandable, and I don't disagree with you: what the survivors were or were not doing during this time frame could mean they may have been holding the game hostage as much or even moreso; which is why the OP's video of the situation should help clarify the situation immensely and see the whole picture. I will state I am not an ACM, and I do not oversee game reports and Support Tickets, but the ACMs are trained to look over everything at their disposal in regards to the offense and make a ruling if a player(s) has clearly violated the game rules, including situations like this that may be a bit more grey than it seemed on first appearance.

I finally found it, its from 2 years ago...
I had footage of this instance but basically chose not to report it because I was told it wasn't holding the game hostage. Maybe they misunderstood me at the time, but I was held like this with my friend for the entire game as Freddy found us down there screwing around near the start and just kept us in this section unable to leave until EGC killed us.
Wish I kept the footage, but it was two years ago...

With body blocking if the killer (or another survivor) is holding a survivor in a corner where that survivor is unable to do anything to progress the match - that's a reportable offence, as that is 100% taking the game hostage. It's irrelevant if other survivors are able to do anything to progress the match, it's the survivor that's unable to do anything that is being held hostage.
Of course, if the survivor is slugged or hooked or EGC has started, then it's completely different as that survivor is progressing their game - even though that progressing is dying on the hook or the ground.
So yes, in the situation described by the OP - that's a reportable offence under hostage taking.
