Dear killer mains:

Why do you guys all of a sudden started (proxy)camping and tunneling so much more during the latest patch? Is it strategy? Is it easy? Is it fun?
I just try to understand why, I never tunnel when I'm playing killer and I cannot complain at my killrates at all.
EDIT: cept for those annoying clicky clickys that just ask for it to get tunneled out of the game

It’s the best high reward low effort playstyle there is. That’s why.

I only proxy camp & tunnel if I’m loosing a lot of pressure and the gens are starting to fly. If I hit 2 gens left and nobody is dead, I will focus somebody out or force as many second phases if I don’t have them yet.
Besides that, I don’t really have to camp or tunnel.
SWF’s are another outlier. If they item / char swap last second, bring map & coordinated offerings, i throw it out and I don’t play as nice. Simply because you cannot afford to.

from the start or mid match? if they do it instantly then they probably arent confident or had a bad match or a few. if they camp and tunnel mid match its because YOU and your team are doing good and the killer needs to regain some pressure, its just the way of the game

The best way to win has always been to remove a survivor from the trial as fast as possible. Nothing the devs the meta changes have changed that. It was like this before with the difference survivors had way overturned tools.
Generally it's best to avoid spreading hooks past 2 survivors until you kill someone. Hooking a survivor around a 3 gen location is also ideal as many maps are either too large to pressure all gens or have gens that are simply not worth trying to defend. So that pushes extra pressure on the survivor team and can help you force out an extra hook state.

Well it goes like this, you play a few games testing out different perks/addons etc. the survivors absolutely mock you. Then you get pissed off, you switch on your good perks/addons, and you become disgusting the next game

The game design rewards camping and tunneling way too much. It's not really an issue with the players, it's just moreso the game for enabling the players to do so, but hey, at least 10 second basekit BT and 10% Haste is coming in the next update.

As someone who mainly plays soloQ, I camp and tunnel because it won't get fixed otherwise. And you should too.

If I am on a challenge, I will play optimally. The patch has nothing to do with it. That being said, yeah, with only 5 seconds BT, it was pretty easy. The 10 second change is a really good one.

Because that’s the best way to win. Once a survivor is gone, it’s way harder for them to win 1vs3.
Also when you tunnel, the person getting chased is in panic mode and usually throws every pallet they find, creating huge dead zones and sealing the fate of the whole team with them.

Wow, how did I guess this would be the topic

Probably because it's the number one thing that causes people to quit the game.

It was easy to guess :)) It's one of those "camping and tunneling" topics some survivor makes after failing in the last game and runs over here to complain about some bad behavior, which qualifies as "camping and tunneling" according to him, without talking about specific examples.

For me it has to do with reliable hooking for information perks being nerfed.
BBQ and Chili: With it losing its bonus and stacks, it now finds no place in my builds anymore.
Pain Resonance: Before 6.1.0 it gave a notification on the affected generator.
With this information immediately after hooking a survivor I would have usually have a clear target after hooking a survivor; either a survivor over 40m away, the generator with the most progress or both when I ran both.
Without this information I generally don't have perfect information to use after hooking a survivor. So I patrol nearby gens in hopes of finding a target and if I don't find one I am more likely to proxy the hook or try to intercept a rescuer.
I find myself tunneling more than before because thanks again to the BBQ nerf. I don't have to be concerned about BBQ stacks so a target I might have pursued earlier in a match get that stack, I often choose to save them for later. Generally 1 or 2 people are dead before the best looper on the team gets a chance waste my time now. I still don't hard tunnel often unless there's only 1 or 2 gens left they're not defendable.

In my case, I'm actively searching for the other 2 survivors as I run by the survivor I put on the hook that is Smack dab in the middle of my 3 gen trap. Proxying doesn't usually happen on purpose. I just end up hooking the sucker in the middle of my my trap and still have a decent LOS as I'm checking my gens.

In recent times ives just decided going for full chases isn't worth it and focusing one guy is a lot easier and so there we go.

Ahhh so my theory of Survivors moving to Killer are part of the increase of camping and tunneling issues
1 -
It's at the top of the possible causes for me as well.
The game hasn't changed much and my playstyle hasn't either. I didn't notice much changes in mid MMR (I'm kind of average as survivor) so I can only imagine the "perpeutal camping/rage-quits" are in low MMR, exactly where a new killer would be. Add to that that the killer queues are slightly longer and the survivor ones slightly shorter : it fits nicely.

Also are we back to the confusion of Proxy camping and Face camping again....I hope not because those discussions tire me out.

not sure tunneling or camping will be much use to killers after the next patch lol

Yeah, and it really shows the ones mocking you not to do it anymore.
Or, it shows survivors that killer tunnel and camp anyway, no matter how they play, especially if some killer play that way anyway.
Well, just choose the one you belive is more likely.

I don't even argue these details anymore. It's a waste of time.

I have up trying to reason with people with biased opinions long ago....I just state my opinion and wait for the "Your Wrong" response or some long winded response saying how thier Opinion is the right one.

You are wise to do so. It always look bad.
I avoid changing anything after having readied myself.
