The New RPD has invoked a new feeling for me
This is unironically the first map in my 2,6K hours that when I load into,I groan and physically feel pain as Killer and Survivor. I don't know how they managed it, but it's way worse than the old RPD. It feels frustrating and confusing for killer and feels the same for survivor. The east(?) version also feels like there are just 0,3 pallets on one of the sides of the map with half a window vault.
This is THE worst map ever made. I don't understand who thought this up and how did this nightmare get past playtesting.

It's literally the perfect example of over-designing, they cut off part of the map, but add a new one, but they break some walls so it's more interconnected, but they also did XYZ and they buffed Pig and nerfed Trapper and added the monkey nft thing as a killer.

Simplify by adding random hallways and random useless unsafe pallets everywhere! What a concept.
5 -
Yall literally asked for this. We knew a new RPD would be crap, but people demanded a change anyway. Enjoy your change, people.
Brb gonna cry somewhere

It's not that tragic. The map is smaller and now I can finally find the basement as killer. I can also get to hooks without getting crazy since there are many holes on the map. It's a good work, overall.

Admittedly, I liked the original and found it made some amazing matches overall. It was bigger, but made it feel like a real survival game as a result. The library floor was horrendous, sure. But I liked the old version quite a lot.
The new maps feel a bit like what would happen if RPD was bought by someone on "Homes Under The Hammer":
Host: So, what are you going to do, now you've bought this property?
Developer: Well, we're gonna knock this wall out, knock a few other walls, knockout this room, remove those doors ... then we'll wait forever to figure out what to do next.

I haven't gotten the west wing variant yet so I don't know what it's like exactly, but the east wing variant absolutely blows.

I asked for RPD to be deleted.

I love new RPD as survivor and killer. No more struggling to find hooks and no more wandering around looking for gens.
2 -
too many god pallets? are you playing the same rpd as me? The one with stuff next to library blocked off has one god pallet and then 0 good pallets, all of them being absolute dogwater. There are also two windows, both of which are trash.
The other side has some decent pallets around the former god loop and then nothing. What? The pallets are just easiest downs for any Killer with an IQ above 3 as they're 4cm long.

Mdh, I hated old RPD overall. It was very killer dependent on whether you were allowed to have fun or not,, and that goes for both sides (it's just as unfun playing blight or nurse there as it is playing against Pinhead or Trapper)

and..is it any better now?

I actually don't mind player RPD now as the killer. I haven't internalized the new design and sometimes run into a dead end, but way less then before. And earlier tonight I must have had my fastes game ever and it was on this map; really, it was a true DBD speed run.
I played as Pyramid Head and with Lethal Pursuer saw two survivors immediately jump on the gen on the marble platform next to the library. So I went through the library and hit both with my POTD! In the ensuing chaos I downed the first survivor right then and there and had my first hook at .. 41s into the game. From there it was just short chase after short chase and hook after hook, ending with a 4k just a smidgen over the 6min mark.

Yeah you don't mind the new RPD because PH has zero loops where he has to use his brains on there.
99,9% have the most direct line of sight or are just -3cm long. It being really easy to win on, isn't a good thing, y'know.
0 -
Exactly. The community made its bed, now it can lay down in it. Now where did I lay my copium?
1 -
Oh, I hadn't realised that you were one of the survivors who got rekt; silly me, but that's what happens when you get fall into the habit of not using your brain.
:P

Dang. I fell didn't into your pfp's trap ;D

Yo hot take as a nurse main this map is absolutely S+ tier, love it. Gen pressure is crazier then the game sometimes even tho blinks are harder, however the better you are the more better this map gets surprisingly LMAOO

We asked for the map to be made at least decent. :P

Can y'all give it a week? It's seriously not that bad. Like old RPD, just learn the map and it won't be as bad. I can see killers complaining because there was/still are god pallets. But survivors, you could have it so easy if you would just learn the map instead of complaining. How do you get THAT lost?
0 -
no. the map is bad. i dont need 7 days to learn the layout.
2 -
good news: it's still awful to play on for both sides! they removed a section of the map to make it smaller and so decided to make it larger again and then added dead ends where there weren't any before. it's still a steaming pile of horseshit to deal with on both sides and i will still advocate to get it completely deleted
5 -
Well good luck with that. Everyone else is going to adapt.
2 -
adapt to what? bad map design????
2 -
Just because I'll complain about it's continued existence and how it still doesn't work in DBD doesn't mean I won't adapt lmao
1 -
I won't :(
I'm still gonna run into dead ends
4 -
The new RPD Is awful the old one was fine ppl just moaned for moaning sake now they have 2 worse maps

It's not bad map design, aside from the god pallets. The god window in the east office is no longer a god window, unless the pallet is dropped, because of the new hole in the wall. There's a lot of new holes which help massively with ease of access to all the different areas of the map. It should be less confusing, not more. I don't know why it's being complained about so much.
1 -
I think it's much better now. Still not a good map in my opinion, but better than it used to be for sure.
2 -
Size.
0 -
It's so not better
1 -
Kinda sad that one of their big points on reworking the map was removing dead-ends
Only to add more dead-ends depending on the variant you are playing, most heinously the east side of the west wing variant has a huge dead end with the closed shutter door
1 -
It's not bad map design, aside from the god pallets.
Are you a BHVR map designer? You sound awfully like BHVR with how terrible all the recent maps have been.
2 -
Simplify by adding more holes everywhere and making the map be a dead-end half the time or a drop-down because you got chased wrong so now get killed if you dont have balanced! peak map design
2 -
They kind of had the right idea in some places by adding holes in the wall that connect parts together
But they also created more deadends with each variant, it's arguably even easier to be boxed in now because the 'dead-end' sides of the map have gens that spawn there
Also who the hell thought 2 gens being able to spawn in the middle was a good idea??? Like jesus
2 -
I mean considering that some devs call insidious bubba an interesting strategy... Someone.
The holes in the ground are neat, yeah. Everything else is not.

I hated the old map, and so far I hate this one less, but I think the fundamental problem is still there -- it doesn't work in DBD to have the map be a maze. You need to be able to travel in the direction you're trying to go.
That said, they opened some of it up more, and I appreciate that. Also, playing as survivor, it's easier to find a gen.
1 -
There's been problems with all of them. They're all survivor sided if you ask me, so me saying that plus actually thinking that god pallets are a bad thing, I don't know how you think I'm a BHVR map designer. All I said was that the bad map isn't unplayable like everyone is acting like it is.

While the map is still big, it is smaller in the sense that going from 1 side of the map to the other side of the map is shorter. So it's less likely someone will die on hook if you don't immediately hop off the gen and head towards them. Which was a huge problem on the old rpd variant.
But that's probably as much as I can really praise the map.
1 -
yeah this, but pre patch.

I enjoyed the map before and now I love it

I feel your pain.. I thought I hated old RPD but the new variations are worse and Idk how they managed that... If some puts RPD offering I instantly alt F4, and if I somehow load into a RPD match I usually DC before the cam stop spinning so no one loses anything but man that map is just terrible. There si even more dead zones bc you can't simply run from upstairs to downstairs, library is now giant void...
The old one was huge but now the indoor rooms feels too small to loop efficiently.
Idk maybe I just need a break from DbD bc I don't see any improvement apart from the map being smaller.
2 -
I vastly prefer East Wing over West Wing. West Wing has too many places blocked off for my liking.
1 -
This was my experience playing on West Wing. Dead end after dead end.
1 -
Absolutely terrible, especially on Wesker. You'd think hallways would be perfect for grabbing people, but his power being bugged so you dash through them instead half the time makes it even worse.
0 -
Surprised nobody’s mentioned that while yes there are now some holes in the ground allowing you to drop down, you still can’t easily reach the upper floor without having to take a detour. The fact that they didn’t add a single new way to go upstairs is just…depressing. But hey at least you can still enjoy the feeling of being right under an almost done gen and not being able to do anything to stop it.
So as long as you bless your totem on the second floor that totem ain’t going nowhere for the entire match.

My main complaint with RPD, at least at the moment, is 80%+ of all the trials I've had since the DLC dropped has been RPD. I sincerely hope they boosted the map to show it off (though I really wish they didn't) and didn't give each wing a separate chance to spawn.
Like an RPD map has Z% chance to spawn, then the game randomizes which wing. Not East Wing has X% to pop, West Wing has X% to pop. No one wants to play RPD that much. The revamp has only been out a couple of days and I'm already sick of it.
As EliskaMM said, I'll be DCing on RPD offering and immediately after zone in until it calms down.
I also hope the Wesker craze dies down in the next week or so. Tired of seeing him and hearing his repetitive voice lines every match. I was so happy to see a different killer I actually hung out and played in a Bubba match instead of suiciding on hook.

I've liked previous R.P.D.; It was somewhat of a slaughter, but it wasn't a tragedy - It felt somewhat balanced. All the killer have had to do was to either watch over the generator in the middle of the map or over all of the generators on the other side of the map.
Right now, the generators are so close to each other that you can tell which one is running from across almost half of the entire map, and that's quite a huge issue, if you ask me.
There aren't many objects, making it a good map for ranged killers overall - I mean, open hallways with a pallet or two to slow you down.. So, basically a guaranteed hatchet or daggers' hits.
There aren't many pallets, there is a serious lack of windows; That alone makes the map heavily unbalanced and killer sided, as long as the killer knows, how to bait survivors to vault over unsafe pallets. That is a really easy task for every single M1 killer. Another issue is that perks like Bamboozle or Shattered Hope do make the map even more killer sided; Yes, the moment you do cleanse important totems, the survivors will have to stick together to heal efficiently, leading to a lot of slugging and hooks with little to no reward for the survivors.
I have mentioned generators being close together - So, if you're running Jolt.. You've basically guaranteed yourself the victory. But, then again, depends on how do the survivors play, as they're the ones dictating the pace of each match, not the killer..
I wouldn't be surprised, if this map would get the highest kill rate, leaving Haddonfield on the third place (due to the two variants, East and West Wings of R.P.D.).
If you're playing with MacMillan or Lisa, who can effectively trap and make certain areas impossible to access.. You've basically won ever since the match began.
It's gonna be a slaughter, literally. Oh, well.. At least, the game will keep me fed, as I can never get enough of survivors' screams! 😍

BHVR trying to rework RPD is the equivalent of hammering wet cement
It wasn’t going to work
2 -
New rpd is the same as old rpd with a higher spawn rate and less intrigue to go.
