Thanks for the anonymous mode devs

I sure do love hackers having no repercussions for what they do if you have video proof. This was definitely a well thought through feature.

If you wanted to report someone who isn't on Steam you had to put in the player name. Now you use whatever name is shown instead, and presumably with the new system you don't even need to do that anymore.

Why do you think anonymous mode gives immunity to bans?

I think people honestly like hitting that report button.

It's like the suggestion box that leads to a paper shredder. Nothing that goes in there actually comes from it but it makes people feel better that they are suggesting something to improve things. By the same token, reporting someone who has cheated or otherwise done something even though it won't actually do anything without video evidence it still makes people feel as if 'something' might be done. Taking that away makes people feel as though something has been lost even though it hasn't.

I think a lot of people didn't know hitting report alone does nothing. Now they do.

I would say that anonymous mode piles onto the notion that hackers face no to little repercussions. Most players, aside from streamers and potentially console players with consoles that have recording software, are not going to have software at the ready to record all their matches in case of a potential hacker. Hackers using anonymous mode just further taints the good will that people had as now you cant even report them via steam, or other platforms, which from my experience has been way more effective.

I didn't see any statements so that's on me I guess. Still block you from viewing and reporting via steam. Also how do they know who to ban when I enter a support ticket if there are multiple Dwights 1/2/3/etc..? What other information can they obtain from just the name if I only provide video proof?
