Why add an opening by the L shaped staircase or RPD?

If you happen to be unfortunate enough to be the last survivor on RPD West Wing, the killer can patrol both exit gates within a matter of seconds of one another with no LOS blockers for quite a distance. The East Wing isnt like this, and from what I remember about the original RPD, this opening was not a thing before its rework.

I know exit gates should take ages to go back and forth between but the East Wing exit gates don't, and I don't imagine the West Wing gates wod either if you had to take the passage beside the darkroom as opposed to the added opening mentioned previously.

They added that because some players were getting lost. They knew where the exit was but had no idea on how to reach it. It's also easier for killer to get a hook in case you happen to kill someone outside with no way to hook somebody.
