Cleansing Dulls. Is it throwing?

No, never. Cleanse every dull you see!
Sincerely,
Your average Pentimento Enjoyer
But in all seriousness... I'm currently during the cleanse 12 totems tome challenge and I'm fully expecting it to take at least 10 games or so even if I dedicate a build to it (e.g., Clairvoyance, Overzealous, Inner Strength). Realistically even with this build you won't do one totem after another as you only need to do one after you were injured and in solo queue hooks usually come so fast that I need to be either doing a gen, helping a teammate or taking a chase.
So doing one or two totems to trigger your perks is absolutely fine. Doing all totems while your team is in trouble is throwing.

It's not throwing, unless it's very obvious that doing one is completely detrimental to your survival.

I wouldn't call it griefing, but as somebody who uses Boon: Circle of Healing and Boon: Exponential 24/7 with Tenacity and Kindred, I don't like others to cleanse my totems.
I do prefer do bless a totem, and then to hop onto a generator instead of healing a survivor whom I've just rescued, you know? If I can bless a totem, I don't have to heal the player, and can repair a generator or two.
But, now that you mention it.. I haven't faced slugging in quite a while, so I may aswell start using Self-Care with Botany Knowledge instead with Prove Thyself or another perk of my choice, so I won't feel bothered by survivors cleansing dull totems.

Don't know about throwing but I do feel a bit guilty when a team mate runs past and sees me doing it lol especially if it's another game where everyone is dead with 3+ gens left. In those situations I do feel like I've wasted time that should have been spent on a gen.

Nah, I like hearing the clickity sounds of bones while cleansing.

If you go "Ooh dull" and cleanse then yeah, I'd say throwing. If you have a perk thats activated by a totem, or suspect NOED is in play for some reason (Even if it isnt) I'd say no, you're taking action to gain some sort of benefit.

Those same people who go at you for cleansing Dull Totems and tell you you're throwing the match are typically also the ones complaining the loudest when they inevitably get struck by NOED at the very end.
No, you're not throwing. No, these people have no right to judge your playstyle.
If you wanna go for Dulls, do it. It's an easy 1k Boldness points, might as well take it when you have the opportunity to.

For me, you shouldnt cleanse a dull totem because of the possibility of someone using coh
Unless you have a perk that needs cleansing to proc (inner healing, clairvoyance, overzealous) or you are doing a challenge

Its particularly annoying when you're working on a gen and then hear the bone clinking sound of someone basically about to set off a gen alarm clock. Tend to see it happen at spawn also, again, annoying when you walk past someone who just finished cleansing only to then have the killer come after you instead.

You spawn, you hear a nurse blinking and 3 secs into the match one of your teammates is injured and in 10s on the hook: You cleanse dulls you are throwing
You spawn and it's a default trapper swinging at every pallet: You cleans dulls you are not throwing

Not if the killer has NOED.

Sorry I run inner healing because my teammates are never in the same location I am

I see dulls as more of a meta game objective
It won't help you win the match but they will give you points for the bloodweb
Problem with this thread is that it's very generalised and the harsh choice of words of throwing
At base doing dulls is ineficient. In some scenarios like with perks you can make the loss of time an investment to gain a benifit later though

It's so annoying sometimes because my teammates never cleanse totems, but as soon as I equip Small game and inner healing, EVERYONE wants the totems now, lol
