BOTS ???
I have been seeing this for a good min since the update where someone will have their name as the survivor name and a random number next to it or is this some meme I know nothing about because if these are BOTS then I hate to say it they play better then most players I have been paired up with

It's anonymous mode. If you turn it on you can hide your name to others and even other players name in the match.
I love to see these reactions to confuse people 🤣

Anonymous mode, patch notes, read them.

Be careful, you might get attacked for telling others to read patch notes here (or telling them to actually use the forum search feature or something)…
Bots will be introduced into custom matches soon btw. There are still no plans to add bots to normal online matches.

It's anons and I refuse to play with them.

Why?
4 -
They're anonymous users. Usually they're your average rando that doesn't want you looking at their profile. Sometimes they're TTVs. Sometimes they're cheaters.
2 -
That's ridiculous and pathetic, but you do you.
5 -
Its most likely due to it being impossible to open the profile to check if its a cheater or not, i’d do the same but on console you can’t open steam profiles anyways

How would you determine this just by looking at their Steam profile? VAC ban history?
1 -
Thats a good start as usually a VAC ban could mean bad stuff happened, so people tend to want to avoid people with one

Bit extreme. Most people either stream or just don't want people sending them salty messages because they're egos can't take a loss.
I've encountered cheaters in DBD maybe 4 times in the 5 years I've played. It doesn't seem common enough to warrant dodging games against people who use anonymous mode. Personally I think you care way too much about winning if this is your attitude towards the game, but as I said previously, you do you.

What determines the number I wonder? Is it random? Or were you the 5th feng min when you activated anonymous mode? Doesn't really matter or coralate to the thread, just curious if someone knows and has the time

How many more new posts have to be about bots? Does anyone read info when you login?

Anonymous Mode is also really good for console users. Xbox and PlayStation players can't change their name, and you play DbD long enough and you get people who stay salty because I guess there was one match two years ago where you didn't try to rescue them from the basement with NOED active or something.
I only wish I could customize my anonymous-mode name. On Switch I like changing my name to "DoingDaily" so survivors understand why I did nothing but stand around and send out chains as Pinhead all match. Or "Doing Tome" for any of this Nurse nonsense.

Wow okay just @ me next time ur so fake for this

As discovered by me in a previous thread no people don't actually read the patch notes and then get confused about new additions and get annoyed when they're told to read the patch notes

Lol, it doesn’t really help that the forum search bar is virtually useless.
If I can’t remember the name of this thread, and I go looking for it under “kill slugs,” it will be 3rd in the search, after a 2020 and 2021 thread.
Edit: I thought I was in another thread. lol. Point still stands, just not pertaining to this specific thread.
2nd Edit: If I search ‘bots,’ this comes up 5th
It makes the “find it yourself” method unnecessarily tedious—especially with respect to bug reporting.
I read the patch notes as soon as I’m able, the day they are released. But for the longest time I’d need to use Google just to locate them, because finding the link to them on here is like an intermediate escape room puzzle.

Bug reporting, yes. Finding specific forum threads, yes (you're actually going to have easier luck typing "kill slugs dbd forums" into a search engine than you are here). Case and point:
But patch notes?
As I proved in a different thread, it takes a 30 second Google search with maximum 5 clicks. Alternatively, they link the full patch notes in-game to easily read. There's literally no excuse for that because it says very clearly "Click here to read the full list of changes" in the news tab that automatically opens itself on every new update.
1 -
Same. They're not officially bots but by the way most of them play might as well be.

Maybe I subconsciously auto-close the news tab every time I log-in to it, but I’ve never actually noticed that I can find the patch notes in-game (been playing since 3rd anno.)
Regardless, I don’t really disagree with you. People should do a little bit of digging themselves.
I’m just amused by the round-about ways I’ve needed to find things pertaining to this game.
