  2. What perks do you think synergise with it, if any?
  3. When was the last time you have used Grim Embrace, if ever?

I like the idea of it but often it just fails practically. First of all it can be completely ruined by just 1 guy being all sneaky and crouching around the mapand. secondly even its reward for hooking all survivors isn't hugely strong except on snowball killers after 40 seconds the games gonna be the exact same, so if there was 3 gens 90% done when you got the last stack as soon as it ends the 3 gens are gonna still be 90% done 40 seconds later, it does guarantee some value with the obsession aura but sometimes the obsession down is all you get outta the perk. Lastly one of the best strategies in the game has always been focusing most your hooks on 1 or 2 survivors which leads to Grim activating when you play least optimaly or more towards the end of the game

For perks that synergise mostly aura perks that can help you find that last survivor like BBQ, also perks that let you capitalize the most off the 40 seconds like Infectious. I dont quite remember if Pain Res procs before it but Im going to assume so, Surge is also your your friend in terms of slowdown perks since you can get a chunk of regression in and then Grim it so they cant repair it back quite as fast but still gens dont regress while blocked so.

I used it a few times and found it to be the best on Oni since you can really flip a game in those 40 seconds, I imagine it might also work decently on Myers for the same reason. Also Nurse but like cmon is there a perk that doesn't work well on Nurse?

Theres a few different avenues for changes imo either

-Aswell as the 40 second block they lose like 10% progress and begin regressing once the block ends or something like that

-Give it a smaller effects for 1,2,3 tokens

-While gens are blocked whenever you down a survivor the nearest survivor to you screams.

All of those effect different parts of it's kit so the direction to change it is mostly up to what BHVR wants the perk to be.

It’s a bit too weak for how difficult it is to trigger it. It’s likely only adding 40 seconds to the game assuming it triggers at all, but compare that to Deadlock or Dead Man’s Switch or No Way Out all of which are easier to trigger and which typically give the killer an additional 60 seconds or more during the match.

Grim Embrace just needs its duration extended.

I think dcs should automatically count as hooks for perks like these otherwise id just add maybe team wide aura reading since the obsession can frequently be the one on hook if say you run it with pwyf, stbfl, or nemesis even

I LOVE Grim Embrace on certain Killer's, most notably The Dredge. You have to make sure the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person you hook is the Obsession or else it falls apart. As long as you manage that, and the Obsession doesn't have Distortion or OTR or something, you hook one person, and then immediately home in on the Obsession. Best case scenario, you can actually death hook the Obsession. It isn't exactly a slowdown in the traditional sense, it's more of a massive blow to the head to the entire team if you pull it off correctly.

I think the concept of the Perk is great. Because it actually rewards the Killer for going after multiple Survivors and unlike BBQ back then, it is even beneficial for the Killer to have this done earlier than later.

But the Perk is super-weak. As already mentioned, it falls off when compared to Dead Mans Switch. Or Pain Resonance. Or Eruption. I run Grim Embrace on Nemesis and it feels really rewarding and was one time a gamechanger. But the effect is underwhelming.

But the thing is, you cannot really buff it. 40 seconds of blocked Gens is a good number, you cannot really increase it, especially considering that the Killer already has some pressure at this point. If the time blocked would be much longer, it will probably be quite oppressive in the mid/lategame.

It's too weak at the moment. Buff it to a full 60 seconds and make everyone scream once it activates, and then we're having a conversation

i thought it could maybe get half of the full effect at 2 unique survivor hooks.

cuz the current effect is just not good enough for the effort it takes.

I like the idea of having its effect occur with every hook, but building up like, for example, with Thanatophobia, where stages 1-3 are okay but not great but lead into the fourth, much longer effect.

2 other things that might be worthwhile:

    1. When the 4th token is gained by hooking the Obsession, a random, unhooked Survivor becomes the Obsession.

    2. It can be activated more than once. I don't genuinely see this happening often, but might make it a meme-worthy perk and possibly give it value even after the initiative effect if the reduced effects on the first three tokens comes into play.

    1. No
    2. Scourge Hook: Monstrous Shrine, Insidious, Save the Best for Last, Deadlock, DMS, No Way Out, Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage, Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain, Furtive Chase, Nemesis, Enduring, Brutal Strength
    3. I've used it twice.
    4. Perk is extremely underwhelming, and will need to be significantly reworked for more players to use it. The perk cannot be buffed as-is without breaking the game, because killers would just run it to camp and force hook/health states mid-game--a lose/lose scenario for survivors.
    5. It shouldn't block generators, it should permanently debuff gen speeds per token.

The perk is weak, but I've found a decent use for it.

I've been running it with Terminus, NWO, and Bloodwarden on Legion with BFF Pin. Legion can already stall out the game a bit and can easily find people with KI. I don't really want to prevent gens from getting done with a full regression build, but it's much preferrable going into the end game with 4 stacks of NWO (which means Grim Embrace trigger) and at least a survivor dead. This makes the Terminus + NWO endgame really dangerous when survivors are down a survivor.

Outside of an end game build as a perk to slightly delay the end game so you can set yourself up into a good position, I don't see any reason to run it. And even then Deadlock might just be overall better, but I like Grim Embrace showing the obsession aura as it helps force someone out afterwards.

I like Grim Embrace as a concept as it encourages you to not tunnel 1 person and you can get value from it but actuality, it's pretty much unreliable and kinda weak imo.

The perks that could go well with it would probably aura reading perks and basic gen defense. It kinda works with a lot tbh.

I think the last time I ever used it was Artist's release. Specifically the 4th day after launch.

People are pretty much right about this perk. It's unreliable and weak once activated.

I'd first start by upping the block time to 45 seconds. Maybe when you get 1 stack, you block the gen for 10 seconds. And you only get stacks by staying away from the hook at like a certain distance. And instead of only revealing the obsession, reveal everyone.
