Disconnected from Host as killer

I had a game this evening where I got DC’d as I was playing Blight. I didn’t notice anything was wrong until I tried a dash and it wasn’t activating despite having all charges. Eventually it kicked me out and I had the DC icon. I didn’t get a temporary ban though which I thought was weird.
Are there some circumstances where the software can tell that a DC wasn’t intentional? I was doing relatively well but doubt anyone would have the time or care enough to engage in shenanigans to kick me out. It’s not like I’m a streamer or anything where someone might bother to DDoS me or something.
