BHVR/DEVS - Why does this happen!?
this happened to me 3 times yesterday and the time keeps going up and up! There needs to be a difference between knowing when someone disconnects the game or just lags out. I dont even wanna boot up the game to play because im scared it might disconnect me and ill get worser then 5 hours ban. This disconnection issue just started happening for me yesterday as well.

"There needs to be a difference between knowing when someone disconnects the game or just lags out."
There isn't. If there was, players would just disconnect by unplugging/resetting their router to get around it.
If your connection is that bad, unfortunately that's a problem you need to rectify. You're not just lagging out of the game, you're disrupting the game for four other people, whether it's intentional or not.

well like i said, they just need to take matchmaking ban off and it wouldnt be a problem for players.

Then everyone would DC the moment they start to lose the game.
Survivors will DC when they get hooked, you'll get a DC every single game.
This is demonstrated by the fact that this is exactly what happens every time they turn the DC penalty off.
I'd like to play a full game every now and then thanks, not just the first half.
Like I said, you just need to sort out your internet connection, so that you're not disrupting other players gameplay because of your insufficient set up. Don't be an ######### thank you.

then everyone would dc for the pettiest of reason; which is why there is a matchmaking ban in first place

Yeah gotta agree with the others. There is no way for BHVR to differentiate between genuine DCs from lag etc and rage quits where the player simply kills their internet connection. And removing the matchmaking penalties would cause so many more people to ragequit. I already see it a lot. Only way to solve the problem for you is to find a way to fix your connection.

I sometimes get an unfair penalty.
Sometimes.
Definitely not six hours of it.

There is a way to differentiate between network issues and rage quitting, actually.
In DBD, a game is never going to end in more than 1 hour, realistically it will be over in ~20 minutes. So once they get a 20 minute penalty or more, a player has to be a complete idiot to keep DC'ing, they could instead sit AFK as killer or suicide on hook as survivor and be out after 5-10 minutes without penalty.
As a result, any penalty above 20-30 min is almost guaranteed to not affect players who willingfully DC. It will only affect the innocent players, eg. those who have network issues, or streamers who get DDOS'd / held hostage.
I can then say very confidently that the DBD penalty system is the worst I have ever seen implemented in a game. It somehow manages to have all the downsides of a penalty system (punish innocent players), without getting the upsides (everyone is still complaining about teammates who suicide/DC). They copied a system from other games (eg. OW, cs) without even realizing that unlike these other games, DBD allows players to legitimately leave a match early by suiciding, completely circumventing the penalty.
The solution imo is just to cap penalties at 15-30 minutes. There is literally no reason to have 6-hour penalties in a game where someone has a way to leave in 2 minutes. The only thing that does is make innocent players get disproportionally affected, streamers especially.
