Agreed with op. Can't stand to hear "GG WP!!!" after getting a 0k. How is getting 0 kills a WP game? It is mocking

It may be polite but it is still disingenuous. If the game was close, that is one thing. If the Killer won with 0 gens done or Survivors escaped without a single hook, it was obviously not "well played" by the losing side.

sometimes its a thing of happenstance. You or your team happen to perfectly counter their perks, they get screwed by weird hitreg etc. One can play well and still get dominated.

Even if you or your team got destroyed you might of done something that match that the other person gave a WP for it could just be 1 chase you did well on and the killer lost you but wanted to say WP, well played does not always have to mean the match was close if a killer gets 0 kills but they played well in other parts or a survivor dies but did 1 great chase, saved there teammate at egc and died doing it when they could of got out why not give a WP.

Well played does not have to cover the whole match but could just be one thing you or your team did or tried to do or would you rather people say gg ez, trash killer/survivor etc just because they destroyed you.

Would anyone say a football team played really well if they scored zero touchdowns and lost?

I agree with what you're getting at.

If you rolled the opposition, but still want to compliment them, you should put in more effort than just saying "gg wp."

If you don't care whether or not the reader understands your compliment, then disregard. ...but I'd imagine one would want the other person to know you are being sincere.

If you are that desperate to find disingenuousness and mockery into everything then i'd say it's you who desperatly needs to get some help

It's not the player that says "wp" that is hurting you but your lack of selfesteem

Maybe they should say something more in the line of "sorry but nevertheless well played", if that even gets through the chat filter.

And before anyone comes with "why should I excuse myself for winning", if you get steamrolled with 3hooks+0k or 1gen+0escapr then most probably this game was a case of the matchmaking going nuts again.

So it would more of a "sorry for the horrible matchup but nevertheless well played" but i am pretty sure that this would never make it past the filter.

I always say ggwp just out of politeness honestly. I don't usually consider if they did good or bad or think about it, I just type it out of habit.

I speak from experience. During the last anniversary i came back from a long break and had one of those cases and tried to say exactly that "sorry for the horrible matchmaking ...etc" and half my message was censored and looked like an insult or swearing -.-

I mean the killer can play for 8 hooks, 0 kills with no gen regression and play exceptionally well. On the other hand I can go against 2 good survivors and 2 people who weighed them down immensely. That might be a 4 gen game due to how fast the 2 bad survivors played, but the 2 good ones could have played amazing. It's situational.

At least half the posts on this forum are bait. Either for views and upvotes( who cares it's a dbd forum?) or they get a kick out of the reaction(also weird can't understand it).

I don't say ggwp if I win unless I'm rubbing it in. Maybe gg if they say it first or if I need to bounce out quick. And even then, I reserve saying it for truly good games where everyone made good plays and it went the length-- which isn't nearly as often as a bad game, in DBD.

Besides, wp is for the loser to say. I can acknowledge a good game, but I'm not going to tell them they played well when they lost. This was something my coach taught me in junior high and it carried over to every game since.

I just finished a match as Doctor. I got 2 kills, a DC on death hook, and escorted the last one to escape - and there was only 1 gen to go. Although the tally was clearly on my side, I gave a ggwp and the survivor replied with a gg.

They were crushing gens in the beginning and there were some good chases from survivors.

I guess it depends what is meant by a "decisive" win. I could have made it a 4k but really felt the survivors did better than the k-count showed and the well-played was well-earned. I am glad the ggwp was received in the way I meant it.

    Too many gaslighters in here.

If one side wins too easiliy they should avoid saying gg or wp as it is absolutely mocking no matter what they themselvels think. There is no sensitivity here , just logic. Gg is for a game where both sides had fun and wp is for a game where both sides displayed a good amount of skill and effort. It's common sense really.

4k at 5 gens left is humiliation not gg or wp unless they managed to make crazy looping and saving events that dragged out the match.

I recommend just premanently turning off the chat and avoid all and any toxic issues one can come across. After many insults and childish behaviors I came across I did just this and had great time in the game ever since.

Not really even if a team lost you can still say well played, take soccer the final score is 3-1 and you have won but those 3 goals was out of i.e 20 shoots which means the goal keeper stopped like 80% of your teams trys at a goal. So you can still say well played because the goal keeper did play well in that match even though his team lost.

The biggest difference between sports and DBD in sports you have time after to walk up to that one person and tell them well played but in DBD everyone is in a rush to leave and move on to the next match asap, you don't know if that person is still in chat or can even see what you say, so its more easy just to say ggwp and move on to next match and if that person responds you can tell them why.

Well I do this all the time. "Quentin, you were good." Then I leave. I'll single a person out and praise them when I know they carried the team. Still not going to say wp when they lost though. I don't say it just to say it. You might; I don't.

If I crushed you, and you didn't rage quit early, then gg wp for being a sport and sticking around until the end.

    Politeness costs nothing.

I'll say it if one person did something worth me saying it or even if it was the whole team, most times ill try to single out the person like you said sometimes ill just say ggwp because i might be busy and need to leave chat/game asap. Sometimes saying it even if its just to one person can turn the feeling of getting destroyed in the match to kinda a small win because you did something a fellow player thought was good.

I won countless matches by a huge margin even though the other side played well and sometimes even better than me. DBD is a rng based game. Sometimes you win or lose just because of the rng. Sometimes one survivor makes a mistake that ultimately causes the whole team to die or the killer makes 1 bad decision and can't recover from it. Why should I not say "wp" if they played well to that point? Trust me, no one is trying to upset by being sarcastic with a "wp". If they want to offend you they will more likely just insult you.

As long as the other side is not doing so with obvious intent to mock, why not take it in stride and return the courtesy? That's what I do (usually :P ).

I say it sincerely, or politely. And will continue to do so.
