Newsflash: Killer makes team of 3 eat poop after immediate DC
BHVR and Killer consider it totally sportsmanlike and fair. Game isn’t broken at all.

While it sucks when a Survivor dc's, the killer isn't under any obligation to then throw the match themselves
53 -
BHVR certainly consider it a problem, quitter penalty was implemented a while back. But what do you want the Killer to do? Go easy, farm? Why should the Killer now waste their time and not just move the game to a quicker end so they can ho to the next one.
Blame your terrible teammate who quit immediately, not the Killer.

Thank you for this breaking news report.
Now onto Diane for the weather this weekend

It's funny when people just generalize what "we killers" think, like some kind of hive mind or the Borg collective

There’s a VERY SMALL % of killers that will farm in this situation. I’m referring to the VAST MAJORITY of games that happen all day long.
3 -
I do feel like if someone dc’s at 5 gens and within the first minute of the match, the game should take that into consideration because it is no longer a fair match, and should only ask 4 gens to be completed.
OR alternatively back everyone out into an entirely new lobby.
It isn’t up To BHVR to force players to act a certain way. Does it suck that they are still playing sweaty when realistically the balance is way on their favor? Yes it does? But as much as it sucks, people still wanna play a normal match. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t things BHVR can’t/shouldn’t do to alleviate the situation.
1 -
I understand how you feel. When an ally selfishly dc's, your chances of winning as a team of survivors are extremely low.
However, it seems to be a survivor's rule book that you must always let the survivor go if that happens.
You can have a killer who cares and lets you escape, or you can attack the survivor as usual, as is the goal of the game.
Well, whatever it is, I think that dc'd survivor is worse than a killer who doesn't change his/her objective even when there is a dc survivor. It was that DC survivor who caused him to eat poop.
5 -
It's unsportsmanlike to play the game as killer if a survivor dcs? Make it make sense
7 -
No. You prove that it’s sportsmanlike to destroy a 3 man team.
0 -
I dunno if the relative number of killer players that would make that choice is many, even or few. All I know is some do. Myself, if a survivor DCs on the first couple minutes of the game start, I'll just let the rest go.
Maybe I'm a reject of the killer hive mind
0 -
So the killer should do what? Also, why are you mad at the killer, and not the person who ruined your game? Also also, why do you feel the burden of your team behavior falls on the killer?
9 -
It's an easier game at that stage, 3v1. Most would be thrilled with that
1 -
Ok. I’ll spell it out….
Granted: The person who DC’d is most at fault. They are unsportsmanlike.
But now let’s deal with the new reality. The facts.
Now the game is 3 survivors who are in an unfair game through no fault of their own vs a killer who has a very easy game. The game is now heavily imbalanced in the killer’s favor. You cannot say it is sportsmanlike to play this game from the killer’s perspective. You can say it’s within the rules or that it’s allowed but ‘sportsmanlike’? No.
Survivors can’t do anything to even the odds or make it fair or remedy the situation in some way but the killer CAN. There are various sportsmanlike things to do… let the survivors get a couple gens done before resuming normal play or farm with them for a bit or for the whole game. But the VAST MAJORITY of games where an early quit happens are simple slaughters. Most killers have the mindset of ‘not my fault. I’ll take advantage’. It’s allowed. It’s accepted by BHVR. It happens thousands of times every day. But no way is it sportsmanlike.
2 -
It can't be called "unsportsmanlike" either. The only fact here is that FARMING IS NOT REALLY PLAYING THE GAME, not normally at least, and no player ever has an obligation to waste its time NOT PLAYING THE GAME when the best option is to just end the match as quick as possible and go for the next match.
13 -
You want the opposing team to take it easy when one of your players is in the sin bin, we may need to ask Patrick about that one.
4 -
You’re completely avoiding the point. The best option FOR YOU THE KILLER is to just end the match. You choose not to consider the facts… that you’re just screwing over 3 people for your own convenience. It is not sportsmanlike in any way, shape or form. I didn’t say you were obligated. That’s kind of what I’m pointing out… you’re not obligated to be sportsmanlike… so most all of you aren’t. But own it instead of avoiding the truth.

And survivors aren't entitled to escape even if their teammate dc'd.
6 -
Even if the killer agrees the player dcing is trashy and the remaining survivors are hopeless, farming is both boring and takes a long time. Some players genuinely think going next asap is more of a mercy, and others might be sympathetic but aren't going to spend 10-15m dicking around when they'd rather play a real game.
0 -
im sure he was so scared he quit. cope
3 -
It's funny how some people in this forum are so entitled they think their fragile opinions are "facts". Yes, the best option for the killer is to end the match, and you don't have to drag yourself AND the survivors for 20 minutes of pointless bp collecting. That's not acting "for your own convenience", that's you doing what you're supposed to do as a player and moving next. And dont' speak for other survivors, when a killer start farming with everyone and I'm a survivor my wish is to just die and go to the next match for once...
But judging how you speak of "truth" and "facts" while comenting obviously wrong things, I guess I'm wasting my time. That's on me for replying on a bait thread.
6 -
From a neutral perspective, there is nothing the killer can do without ruining match statistics. Let them farm and escape? Escape rates go up. Kill them all? Kill rates go up. Let some generators go? Surely that will mess with some of BHVR's charts. There is no right or wrong in this situations because no matter what you do the result is the same, statistics get messed up and become inaccurate.
It does not matter about sportsmanship or giving the other side an advantage because it would be silly. Why does the killer have to actively throw the game to compensate your teammate's awful decision? Better yet, why does the game design not support making the game more fair when someone DCs.
There is no right or wrong here for the killer. The killer has the option to pick whatever they want, they have the option to pick rather or not to make things "fair" and throw the match, just as much as you are given the option to opt out of the match and leave if you dont like it (or let yourself go on hook). Dont get mad at the killer for making decisions they are forced to make because your teammates did an awful thing, nor should you force them to act a certain way based on stuff out of their control.
6 -
A player going in the sin bin for fouling is a little different to a player throwing a tantrumn and walking off the pitch for a trivial reason.
0 -
Newsflash: Another heavily biased and judgemental post from the op. 🥱
7 -
Do you ever NOT victimize yourself as a Survivor on these forums? You're crying about sportsmanship while being bitter that Killers don't throw the game for you because YOUR teammate decided to do you dirty...
10 -
farming is kinda against rules, not always but kinda, so playing just normal is fine.
1 -
good god this is the most entitled thing i've ever read
9 -
The killer does not have a 'correct' choice in this scenario. They can either:
- Go easy on the survivors and throw the game, losing out on kills and BP in the name of "being nice" something that survivors will never, EVER do.
- Farm. Not every survivor wants to farm, some players HATE farming and will regard this as 'holding them hostage'.
- Try to end the game as fast as possible so everyone can get to the next one sooner, by killing them as efficiently as possible. But this is 'unfun gameplay'.
(personally I think #3 is the 'fairest', but that's the one you're here complaining about so...)
The only 'fair' solution to this is if any DC results in the game instantly ending.
It does this if the killer DCs for obvious reasons, so it should do it when a survivor DCs too.
If you find that too boring, then don't complain when the killer plays the game they loaded in to.
2 -
I used to just let them do gens, but most of the time they want to farm and don't understand that I just want them to go. I don't want to waste time in a game the can't be lost no matter what. I'll get them out asap and go next myself. Half the time I just get off dbd if I get a dc.
no he doesn't
3 -
These are NOT facts but your OPINION on the situation. The Killer have no obligation to do anything for the Survivors at all.
If I go by your logic If a Killer kills one survivor super early it's still unsportsmanlike to continue the match because it will be 3v1......
5 -
Maybe you should blame your fellow teammate who decided to DC instead of the killers?
If the killer wants to farm in this scenario than you're in luck, if not than though luck and just move on to the next match.
Killers aren't under any obligation to start farming in this scenario, some just want to end the match quick and move to the next one where your entitled teammates won't DC
4 -
Not all survivors want that.
I mostly play survivor and i would literally point at the hook IF killer wants to farm.
If we get a DC, i would maybe "appreciate" a killer just giving a chill game. and by chill i don't mean farm but at least not just hard camp.
Still, if he chooses to; I wouldnt be mad much.
Farming is boring, i literally DC'd many times before when killer forces me and a teammate to farm on 5 gens.
3 -
Okay. Story time.
I used to ease up on a DC team, to give them a chance to farm and pip.
When I did, I got survivors threatening to report me for 'taking the game hostage' and cussing me out for not immediately ending the game.
When I didn't, I got cussed out for being nasty and not giving them a chance.
Sometimes, you just can't win.
I used to let people farm.
I'd say maybe 1 in 5 teams will DC themselves, or be obnoxious in post game - because *not everyone wants to farm*.
How is the killer supposed to know whether you want to farm or not?
Is it not equally BM to trap survivors in a game they don't want to be in for longer, and force them to DC?
Tell me - what exactly is the correct response here?
3 -
Your point? If someone dcs at the start I try to end the match as quick as possible to get into a new one. I dont go bragging or anything?
0 -
It's true...but the current game state is pretty broken. When survivors don't have any hope of a fun engaging match...ever, why would they continue to log in. Now this isn't a problem for killers to solve, it's behaviors disastrous last few updates plus some underlying base game problems. But killers can help the experience without going full farm. Maybe stop slugging at 5 gens...maybe tunnel a bit less when there has been a dc. Again, no obligation... but the game only works when everyone is playing and having fun.

Shrug.
I joined when this game was extremely survivor sided.
Now the game is fairly balanced (killer versus SWF) or a bit killer sided (killer versus solo) depending on how survivors approach things.
I think, between the time I started playing (early 2020) to now, I've had a total of 2 survivors give me a kill on a blowout game.
I started learning survivor last year. I'd say I've seen maybe 500, likely more killers in that time give someone hatch or a gate.
What I'm saying is:
- 'Killers' aren't a monolith. There are some mean ones and some nice ones. Ditto survivors.
- By the numbers (and I'm sure anyone who plays both roles will back me up on this), you are more likely to be shown mercy by a killer than a survivor, even though there will be 4 survivors to every killer.
- Many survivors expect to be let go if they're the last survivor - again, I'm sure any killer player will confirm how often we get BM in postgame if we don't give hatch. However, on games where all survivors escape, there isn't even a consideration of giving them a charity kill.
It seems that there's a double standard here, where killers are expected to abide by unwritten rules of sportsmanship that survivors aren't. Why?
10 -
The only time I have ever given a free game to survivors was when there were two AKF survivors in a match (I suspect they were a duo who didn't like the map so just went AFK to avoid having to play it), I hooked both of the afk's, let the remaining ones unhook for points, and then hooked them again so I could get sacrifice points. Then let the survivors do the gens, at some point the Jake and I were playing ring-around-the-rosy around a tree for chase points. Was a very chill match.
0 -
I don't remember having to give you the game because one of your teammates had a temper tantrum, you sort that out with them.
As it is,this game and community GLORIFY leaving games because they run into X killer this,X playstyle that, etc.
5 -
I've noticed this too, especially after playing killer more as of late.
As killer, I'm expected to play by all these rules. Not to tunnel, don't camp, don't proxy camp/patrol, don't take XYZ killer to XYZ map, don't be toxic etc.
Yet, survivors are seemingly allowed to rush gens, t-bag during a chase and in the exit gate, be entitled to hatch/win, be allowed to flashlight save and chain blind a killer, bad mouth the killer or other survivors in post chat for being "new" or "bad" etc.
It's very much a "rules for thee but not for me," kinda deal. Not to say that this is all killer's or survivors mind, because, as you said, there are some players who do give charity kills or escapes. But the toxic ones always seem to overshadow the good ones.
7 -
didn't you make a post complaining about the same thing before?
I'll give you one thing, if a survivor dcs a gen should be completed imo unless it's one gen left.
but the killer in this case better just end the game so everyone can go to a proper match not everyone likes farming it's very boring.
0 -
This right here.
I love giving the killer a quick and easy last hook if there has been a couple DC's in the match. It ends the game quicker and it's my way of saying "I'm not with those guys and sorry" Do I have to do this? Nope. But why should I then expect small mercy's from the killer when the lost match isn't their fault any more than mine?
How many times do you insist on last hook when farming instead of heading out the gate.
Do you try and help an obviously new killer out?
Do you refuse the hatch or open gate in favour of taking a hook?
How many times do you compliment a killer who is obviously good rather than being salty about getting smashed? Seriously Billy and Oni mains...those sweet sweet corners...
None of the above are things you SHOULD do, are obligated to do, or even in game incentivized to do, but those things are pretty much all on par with what you are expecting here, and I RARELY see fellow survivors do this.
We are all so focused on our own sides and what we can get out of a situation when in reality, if you want more sportsmanship, offer some of your own.
Could mean the difference between that killer being aggravated enough to go full pink addon 4gen slowdown in the next match, or the killer being chill enough to not utterly curb stomp the next poor sods.
You give what you put out into the world, even in gaming. Trying to make killers feel guilty because they just wanted to get the game over with, will get you nowhere.
5 -
You can't blame the killer for playing the game. It's not their fault your team mate decided to dc. Blame the person that disconnected, be happy if the killer farms with you and accept that they have no obligations towards you.
3 -
Alt + F4 to resurrect fallen teammate.
0 -
Not wrong at all - theres just nothing in it for survivors. If the average game is 61% for killers it pretty much becomes 100% in that scenario.
DC's should essentially give bp's based on when a players dc's. Within 1m of game just do 10k bp's so all players don't loose pips.
0 -
I will never understand people that shake their fist at the killer player because of the survivor player DCing
The first time this happens the killer could take it easy a bit, maybe even the fourth time
But with how often it happens i really don't blame people who play killer that just want that match to be over with and get in a real one
If you only have a set amount of time to play you really don't want to waste it by having to deal with the aftermath of a sore loser
Blame the person who is at fault
2 -
Would you rather not I end the game quickly so you can go onto a normal next match, or would we rather farm for 10 minutes while i do absolutely nothing gameplay-wise while staring at you holding m1 on a gen?
Such fun gameplay

As expected… all replies basically saying “I’m allowed to do it and don’t want to waste my time”. No one admits its not sportsmanlike. No one cares about the other 3 players who get screwed. Just selfish people who won’t take responsibility…
And you don’t have to stand around while people do gens… you can down them, hook them, kick gens, do whatever… just don’t slaughter them before they have a chance to do anything.
I think I’m done with this forum for awhile…
0 -
Actually, it's much more sportsmanlike to actually play out the game instead of doing weird things that can be against rules at times.
Your "sportsmanship" is simply just twisted, if you are done with this forum because of this matter then it's on you.
2 -
Okay i might talk to a wall here but it's still entertaining.
No one admits its not sportsmanlike.
Maybe because it's only unsportsmanlike in your own subjective opinion and not in the eyes of the general majority?
No one cares about the other 3 players who get screwed.
Because in general those three also want to go into the next trial asap and not play in a trial without thrill when the killer is playing halfheartedly.
Just selfish people who won’t take responsibility…
There is no such "responsibility" just as survivor don't have any when a killer is mismatched by the algorithm and ends up with 1 hook upon exit gate powering or the like.
And you don’t have to stand around while people do gens… you can down them, hook them, kick gens, do whatever… just don’t slaughter them before they have a chance to do anything.
And who judges how long the kille should do this before finally being allowed to start killing survivor? When is the point that the survivor had enough gameplay and the trial can finally be brought to an end to go next?
I think I’m done with this forum for awhile…
Thats maybe better because it seems you don't look for discussion but only validation of your heavily biased and judgemental claims, like the conspiracy theory post you made before this.
Bye bey, you won't be missed except for entertainment value.
