Getting pips after reaching red grades feels impossible as solo q survivor

My only motivation to play dbd these days is mostly just reaching rank 1, I play maybe couple of days a month and then just log in to collect 1 million BP, it usually takes me 2-3 days to reach red grades, I reached rank 2 this morning and legit after that I am not able to pip, matches are either horrible for the team or the killer is so bad that no one does anything, I have played for the past 6 hours and have not been able to get a single pip. I am going on vacation tomorrow so I mostly have one day to get red 1 from red 2 but I legit think I won't be able to do it.

I am trying everything doing gens, unhooking, taking chase but I either die end game in some stupid way or just get tunneled. This is the first time in my 2500+ hours I legit feel I won't reach it, I mean I know it means nothing but it's like my only motivation to play the game in this current state

Does anyone have any general advice (aside from swf - none of my friends won't touch this game anymore)?

I agree, it's very difficult to get pips in the Iridescent grades without being in a SWF with comms. I struggle to get them there too even when I play well, take part in doing all the objectives, and even escape the trial on top of all that.

Even worse is getting up to 4 pips and then getting stuck with a few bad matches in a row and losing those pips that you just worked so hard for hours to get. It's pretty unfair actually.

I don't really have any advice though. I'm trying to figure out why it's not working out for me too.

The way I do it is to start the season perkless until I hit Iri 4, then just load up on 4 altruism/gen perks that help with pipping (e.g. Autodidact/Botany Knowledge + Empathic Connection instead of Boon: Circle of Healing for Benevolent, Hyperfocus + Stakeout + Built to Last + Toolbox instead of Prove Thyself for Lightbringer, Counterforce + Detectives Hunch + Map to cleanse all totems for Lightbringer [Will piss off your booners though]) after my MMR gets settled to my perkless performance (Which means I don't need an exhaustion perk to get gold/iri Evader)

It's very hard to consistently pip up in Iri as solo. What helps me is playing map offerings. That way I reduce the chances I depip which is what makes pipping up at Iri so hard for solos in my opinion.

The best way I find to guarantee pips in red ranks is just be the one who does the unhooks as a couple safe unhooks gives you Iri. This makes it much easier to secure the safety pip.

Then if you escape, you are guaranteed at least a gold emblem meaning you only need 1 Iri + 1 Silver or 2 Gold emblems in Evader and Lightbringer to pip.

Since ranks no longer affect matchmaking, de-pipping should go. You either win a pip or you don't. I feel like it would be fairer, especially since sometimes losing pips is out of your control (getting tunneled out early, teammate DCs, game servers do an oopsie and DC you, getting chased all game and not having time to max out the other categories, etc).

Yeah pipping as a survivor in iridescent is hard af. You have to do it all, go for unhooks, loop tf out of killer, spam gens and escape alive. If killer decides to tunnel you or potatoe teammates result in a 4 k you aint getting a pip up. My advice is run swf,, it's the only way to consistently perform well. Solo q is an absolute ######### show

It's hard, but not impossible. I hit Iri 1 strictly in solo every month, but the trip from iri 4 to iri 1 often takes as long as all the ranked preceding. And like many, that involves a lot of aggravating back and forth (like going from 3-4 pips to none and then back up again before ranking up)

Imo, you have to focus and be mindful of varying your gameplay up to hit as many categories as possible, and often play greedier than normal (I usually play pretty selflessly, so I have to balance that out in the final push).

But I don't think it was meant to be easy.

You don't have to escape alive as you can still pip with a single Silver emblem. But escaping obviously makes it easier.
