Did they disable nvidia filters?
After coming back from a break of 2 months, I just discovered that I cant use nvidia filters anymore (we all know the game is too dark) and when I try to use it, the mouse cursor stay stucked, this is only happening in DbD, did they change it recently or something? Everything is updated

It's a bug of nvidia overlay and dbd. I cant use my mouse at all when going to nvidia overlay to start recording a match for example.

A workaround is to ALT+ENTER to go into windowed mode and you will be able to use your mouse on the nvidia filters then ALT+ENTER when you are done to go back into fullscreen mode.
12 -
you can alt-tab and it will work. Open the game, change the tab to anything else you have opened like Chrome and open the game filters Alt+F3 or whatever you have set it on, and you will be able to move your mouse

Same here

Disagree. Until BHVR fixes the issues with maps that are way too dark that they continue to refuse to fix, this is an accessibility issue. People need to be able to adjust the brightness to make the game playable
16 -
everyone with nvidia can use filters, they're allowed and greatly help players on lower end pcs
without filters my game is a blurry mess, filters help without destroying my FPS
5 -
So do you use these so the red stain is as bright as the sun and so it goes through walls?
1 -
without filters
with filters
6 -
Yeah I cant use ultra settings as the shadows are far too intense and I cant see unless I use filters. My PC is more than capable of running at ultra but I use low so I dont have to use filters due to heavy shadows

I disagree, I genuinely cannot see in some dark asf maps due to eye strain of contrasting lights without getting a headache. (macmillain, garden of joy, etc).

So cringe

ive no idea why PC users are allowed to use such things as nvidia filters while console players can't even adjust gamma or brightness.
4 -
this is a PC game originally, and most games allow filters. Just because you're not happy with something on console, doesn't mean that most of the player base which are using PC have to suffer.
Filters help with visibility only. Some might have low end PCs, or low end monitors, they might have issues with their sight
And if you would like filters on console, take it up to the companies - Sony and Microsoft
4 -
its the same if i would answer you if you have a low end pc or low end monitor take it up to the store and get a decent one.
everyone got to have the same possibilities, using 3rd company stuff to increase such thing as visibility creates unfair advantage.

It was stated that is not a bannable offense and, excuse me but using game filters doesn't give you an advantage because you still can see the player... if someone is hiding well, i.e. Claudette in a bush, then you won't see it, no matter how many filters you're using.

They've confirmed before

Its a feature that comes with the video card. It's not an illegal program and if its available it's allowed.
Consoles are closed platforms. What this means is that its complicated for developers to add certain features, even troubleshooting technical issues can be a problem and a complicated process. Everything that happens on console needs to go through Sony or Microsoft respectfully.
If you have issues with your console, even connection issues, you need to take it up with either Microsoft or Sony. This is not the same for PC. PC is the opposite, in this case the game support team can send me troubleshooting for my connection issue or my lag, or my technical issue. I don't need to contact my video card manufacturer.
If you want filters on console, you do need to take it up with the company that makes your console.
PC and console are incomparable in these regards

It's not bannable, someone sent you official responses, but also the game developers can disable this feature if they want to. Since it's not blocked and people can put filters. There are certain games where the developers have disabled this feature and you cant use it
Just like Shadowplay, when it switches off automatically, so you can't record when you open Netflix, filters can be turned off by the developers
1 -
>game developers can disable this feature if they want to.
well thats the point, they should.
4 -
GOD BLESS YOU! That worked 100%! Tyvm for this! Hope they fix it soon...

Only thing the filters do for me is to make the game prettier. I dont get any advantage from them.
I use them to brighten my game since i play on ultra and the game is way too dark on some maps to even play. I also use colors to make the game little bit more nicer looking for me instead of the normal gloomy colors.
I've noticed lately the filters do make my game lag quite a bit and now i cant access the filters since my mouse stops working but i figured out how to access them them.
Behaviour if you dont want people to use NVIDIA filters stop making the maps so bloody dark you cant see infront of you. please :) Also put some color into it!

"I don't get any advantage to them. I use them to brighten my game so I can see hiding survivors easier. What about that is an advantage?!" -.-
4 -
Yeah i brighten the game. Again it doesnt brighten the dredges nightfall at all so no advantage there. It doesnt brighten the pitch dark house in garden of pain map, no advantage there. Only thing i get is prettier looking map and little bit lighter look to it. It doesnt give me any other help but to see where im running on the map. The dark places are still dark.
I would get this same result putting my graphics on low, but now i can have the same brightness and have my graphics on ultra and actually see some details.
I'm sorry i have NVIDIA i guess and i can use this to make my game look nicer.

You can adjust your monitor/tv settings you know? That's what I used to do for Docked mode on Switch
1 -
No.

Unless they confirmed that it is a bug, i would argue that this is how they intended it to be (its their game after all). This is ment to be a horror game first and "parkour" game next... not the other way around. Disabling the Nvidia filters and keeping the maps dark, together with the approaching heartbeat sound are ment to keep you on edge.
If all maps are just bright as day, the horror element will be gone.
1 -
Thanks and then change it back everytime I watch netflix or play other game. Every other game even before you get to see a menu lets you adjust brightness, HDR and other stuff like that, but not DBD. But hey, you can use filters to see anything that can't be seen. Dark? No problem, filter applied.
1 -
Oh please note this wasn't me saying it's good enough- I am absolutely for seriously advanced graphical settings including gamma and FOV options. Just that you are able to adjust things via your monitor/tv settings if all else fails.
1 -
Just a note, Nvidia has confirmed its a bug in their overlay with a specific version of Easy Anti-Cheat. It doesn't just affect this game.
Also, if you use the Alt+Enter thing and then turn on the overlay, it seems to affect the desktop rather than the actual game so things like the recording affect your entire desktop even after you stop playing.

Let me guess: The accessibility issue is that survivors are able to hide in dark corners?
0 -
I play mostly survivor now and I use filters.
The maps are way to hard to see the killer, the survivor, the generator, the flower in the corner, the walls, the rock, the plant that's not passable and the one that is. It's not about killers, it's about everything else.

BTW, my filters stopped working, The nvidia overlay doesn't open when I use the shortcuts.
Anyone knows anything?
0 -
No, still works. But why would they?
0 -
Try going into the game setting, enter windowed mode, then change what you need to in the Nvidia filter settings, and then go back to full screen mode. This method works for me.
1 -
Tbh, they should make it impossible but whatever.. Doesn't make it easier for both sides or anything..

These are things that have become standard for PC. Stop crying because people willingly shoot themselves in the foot over playing on console. next are you gonna cry that you're locked to 60 FPS and I have 120? Jesus.
0 -
it doesn't work for me, the overlay simply won't open. It's like it's not installed.
I'll run a reinstall for my graphics to see it changes anything
thanks anyway

I mean if you play on console with a decent TV, you have a fair amount of picture customisation options. I was actually very surprised how dark the game was on my laptop. It's probably a good thing that you can modify the screen if it's like that on even good PCs.
The image on my console is significantly brighter than the laptop and I've even adjusted some of the colour palette to make the red scratch marks stand out more.
Pretty much the same thing as filters tbh.
2 -
Same, I used to play on my Xbox and on a pretty customizable TV and the pictures were always nice-looking. I was very surprised to see how dark the game was when I switched to my laptop, but Nvidia filter helps correct that. I could barely see anything without the filter.

Though a PC game originally, as many are, all together the consoles vastly outnumber those on PC for DBD.
When the first RE chapter with Nemmy came out those playing on the PlayStations had nearly caught up to PC in size themselves. I play on Xbox, quite smaller than PS but much larger than our Switch cousins. Combined much more play on console than those on Steam/Epic etc.
As for use of filters being "fair" it's hard for me to reconcile those using them to brighten up an admittedly dark af game along side others using them to see a nuclear red killer stain visible from Mars.

The horror element will be gone regardless after a max. of 30h of gameplay. Then the killer is just the obstacle hindering you from escaping
1 -
The filters get removed when you update your nvidia drivers! All good here, playing with the same filters :)

I only have 1k hours, so im far from a veteran, but im still very much on edge when playing.
Also, Nvidia users get a clear advantage over AMD users.
And why should the devs even bother making the maps dark, when its cancled by the players anyway.?
0 -
You are not wrong. Lighting was always a wonky balancing factor due to different screens, equipment, situation at home, eyesight etc.
Watch some streamers in the main building of Garden of Joy and compare that to your own experience. Why are some players subjected to this while others have the light switched on? With base settings that map is way too dark.
Dude, I still sometimes get jump scared and spooked, but the killer is no longer the big bad scary slashermovie killer to me, but, well, the killer. He hunts you, you loop him, throw a palette in his face and eventually go down. But it's a far cry of how stressed out I was when I started and even the shifting sound of the gen would scare me.

gamma is an option on any other platform, i saw -- its basically the first window you when you launch a game, and no -- i dont care of 120fps
0 -
Err, no. I've my monitor nicely calibrated for everything I use my PC for (work, casual, gaming, social, etc).
DBD is literally the only app that requires color/clarity correction. I'm not messing with my monitor every time I want to play, and then have to switch it back.
I've no idea how the devs calibrated their displays but the comments saying that they're way too dark, there's too little contrast, etc, are far too wide and numerous to suggest this problem is with the community and not how DBD manage the colour palette.
2 -
I'm not saying that it isn't a problem because of this one singular work around. However that is one potential work around which has the same effect as using NVIDIA Freestyle and is accessible to everyone not just to people with NVIDIA. If you don't want to, that's fine, and I will obviously keep advocating things need to change.
But people don't know about that whatsoever, so I'll let them know and they can make their own decisions.

Even though you cannot use Nvidia filters you have the option of buying a monitor that includes built-in display adjustment options. Aorus has a good selection. They include remote controls for easy display mode changes.

I believe the point is nearly all other games come with many more options in-game for graphics, controller settings, etc.
Just not this game.
