Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Why is getting hit through a pallet still a thing?

Like shouldn't this either be completely validated on the killer or survivor's end, not both? Sick of dropping a pallet stunning the killer and still getting hit. I'd feel better about it if it either refunded the hit or refunded the pallet, not letting you get hit AND wasting the pallet.

Because its a latency thing and if they decided one way or the other people would be mad so its a weird inbetween

Don't you think it would be fair to refund the pallet then, if the hit connects but the survivor got the stun on the server's end?

There will always be latency, it is just a part of gaming online and something you just have to accept. Sometimes it will work in your favour, other times not

Yea lately this has been happening more often than not, i thought it had been fixed.

I've never heard of this before, do you have a video link or developer explaining this? I always thought that once you press spacebar on the pallet that's that

Matchmaking seems to not care about distance as much as before. When I was last playing I would constantly end up with at least 1 other person with terrible connection.

They tried that in the past and designed it strictly in the survivor's favor. It was the most horrible experience you can imagine. Survivors were screaming and killers even got the splatter effect but they were always getting validated. Very frustrating. Over time they tried to balance it out a bit more. I'm not sure there is an easy solution to the problem since it's completely dependent on latency which can never be removed entirely.

It's just something you gotta try to strategize. You gotta judge the scenario and if you're sure the killer's gonna hit you whether you drop the pallet or not, then don't drop the pallet. In some cases, even if the killer's gonna miss, then maybe still don't drop the pallet cuz they still have the miss cooldown.

Wasn't this supposed to be getting fixed or am I remembering wrong?

That's not correct. It used to be resolved purely in the killer's favour, now it's the server's discretion. What you're referring to is false feedback due to killer lag.

Also to add to other people: If you vacuum into a killer who's lunge is far enough through the pallet, you are forcing your hitbox into the killer's lunge.

Because the pallet isn't just an instant "stun" zone. There's a few frames before the stun zone appears (aka like 1/4 of the way dropped) which can lead to getting hit through a pallet which is totally fair.

Yeah, no. You're wrong. The patch when DH and pallets got validated purely in the survivor's favor did happen, unfortunately. That was last year I believe in summer (I could be wrong about the exact time, though). I remember that still being a thing when Nemi got added. It was designed in a way that would have the survivor stun the killer the moment their animation for the pallet drop started. It even looked faster than normal. There were some instances where survivors got hit on their own screen and validated as well. That happened to me once. I don't know if it was purely in the killer's favor before that. That would be just as bad as said patch. I can't remember for the life of me how exactly they handled it before.

nope. that would be insanely broken with dead hard. the pallet has cast time, the pallet must be dropped 50% before the stun is applied. more experienced killer will try to bait you to drop the pallet so they can waste the pallet and still hit you. Its common tactic when used with Enduring.

I'd at least like to get the benefit of it as killer if it's happening to me as survivor. Too many times where my weapon is through the pallet touching the survivor, and they just don't get hit as they warp back into the pallet drop animation.

Yeah I love the warping survivor as I'm half way through a lunge attack and they rubber band at light speed back to the pallet stun.

Last night I actually got stunned on the survivor side of the pallet & I still didn't even get the hit! How is that even possible lol

With Enduring, that can actually be preferable because you're now next to the survivor and can turn and hit them before they can slide over. But sometimes even when that happens it doesn't give you the hit.
