The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

is this normal?

whenever I see things like this that are better akin to Bozo's circus, I am quick to suspect that it is those folks who...enjoy slanting the odds in their favor. I simply don't see this type of power while cross play is off. so, how common is this sight on pc? i realize I am in a hallway but I have had the same struggle on other maps while outside and bumping into random objects.

I mean, do you really think they start cheating when they are in a 2v1 with 4 Gens to go? If I would be a cheater, I would start cheating before almost all of my team are dead... You even hooked that Kate at least once already.

When it comes to Boil Over, it can be annoying, but it is manageable on PC. Indoor Maps make it harder tho. And I would guess that a controller also does not make it easier to move around.

It is perfectly normal when the Survivor uses Boil Over and you are playing on maps with small doors like Lery's, RPD or Midwich. This exact same thing happened to me the other day its just the way the perk works, if you have to traverse a set of doors you may get stuck on each.

That wasnt hacking, thats Boil Over regular effect.

Sounds like Boil Over in an indoor map, nothing fishy about it in my experience

It can be annoying but it rarely makes it impossible to hook

I just seldom see it so potent. the first hook, I caught her within 10 of a hook and no obstacles to my path there. I let them escape after that, as I was done after that considering how I was fast approaching the controller decimation realm. I could not move at all. it was insane.

I hear people say that about controllers a lot but that is how I see a keyboard. never tried one though for online gaming

that video did not depict an impossible scenario? how does one get around this type of thing?

You can overcome it by turning your camera 90º the moment you start tilting so the inertia moves you forward instead of to a side.

I will try that. been a long time since I've seen it. thank you.

I said it's rarely impossible, in your case I'm not sure

In that video, you weren't helped by RPD. This map has the most narrow, mid-corridor doorways any map has, and it's easy to bump into them. Boil Over is not equally strong on all maps, and not even on all indoor maps : It's mostly okay in Lery since there's a lot of hooks in wide corridors so if you succeeded getting out of a room, you're fine. It's horrible, horrible, horrible on Midwich, because of an inherent problem of Midwich (the hook deadzones).

I can't say I would have handled your situation better than you did because I really don't know RPD that well and I'm always lost in it. But if I'm not mistaken, you downed them in the corridor near the open area on the rooftop, where a hook basically always spawns either on one side or on the other (in your case I think it appeared near the hole in the wall, on the opposite side of the gen). I might have gone there, thinking in the open rooftop area I might be less likely to bump into stuff. I can't promise I would have managed to hook.

It wasnt a bad call to choose the downstairs hook, as it appeared closer. However, I think there were more narrow doorways in the way.

There was also the option to leave them slugged once you knew you wouldn't make it to a hook, and look for the other person. It's not really nice but in that case its not like you would be slugging specifically for the 4K, you just couldn't hook. Either they would crawl to another space, or they'd stay downed. At the end of the day, their choice.

Now, another thing that makes handling Boil Over easier : Boil Over will make you move from left to right. So if you know you're approaching a doorway that might be a bit hard to go through, you can actually let Boil Over push you through by angling your camera at a perpendicular angle to the doorway. The first time you got stuck, when exiting the stairs, if you'd looked a bit on the left (as though running into the wall), Boil Over would have actually pushed you through the door.

It's a counter-intuitive gymnastic, but it can work once you're used to it :)

that is awesome. Thanx for the input. I have about 6000 hours in this game but have health issues at the moment making me a bit loopy. all this dismay I experienced can be traced back to my mind. these tips help greatly though, so once again, thank you, folks.
