Hey experienced killers

Quick question . I'm somewhat new (started in July and caught on quick) I have a question.

When I'm chasing a surv sometimes they do this back and forth "wiggle butt" type of thing that for some reason makes me miss a very clear shot (they won't spin or anything either) any tip for that ?

I've tried waiting , doing longer lunges, shorter hits, forcing them to spin etc but nothing has worked.

Are you on playing on console? This happens to me a fair amount on PS

if all of that doesn't work the only solution is either always run "unrelenting" or using a mouse as i am assuming you're playing with a controller which makes it pretty hard to counter spins.

this game is not controller friendly unfortunately.

For PC, you want a higher DPI that feels comfortable for you. I personally like 3200.

For console, I'd highly recommend cranking the sensitivity up to 100% if it's not there already.

I'm assuming you're describing fake spins or side strafes by the survivors. Your best bet is to wait until you can time up your swing if you aren't comfortable with the left/right movement.

For sure this is a tricky bit, I still dodged on and off too depending on how well I'm playing at the moment. It's just one of those things that takes a lot of practice I think, and also resisting the urge to swing unless you're 99% positive you're going to hit. I think there's nothing to say but you have to do your best to keep your camera centered on them while they're weaving around and only swing when you are sure it will connect.

I will say if you find yourself missing a lot then Unrelenting is a decent perk in that case. My nephew started playing the game recently and was missing a lot of swings so I suggested using it and he said it really helped him catch up after whiffs. There's a bunch of players that turn their nose up on Unrelenting since "you shouldn't be missing in the first place" but I think that's an unrealistic view of how often most people miss attacks. Honestly if you miss and have Unrelenting you're shaving off a lot of the distance they could normally get from you, it's kind of like Save the Best for Last but for bothces.

There is also this thing called aim dressing that should theoretically help you out, but gets confused by suevivors erratic movements and makes you miss by aiming dead center or something. Maybe looked around for that buzz word, ie aim dressing.

If you match their movement, turn when they turn, while attacking you should get them. It takes practice though.

You might have noticed when trying to hit a survivor around an obstacle it will yank your camera and you will miss, ending up hitting an obstacle instead of survivor. It happens because of aim assist(aim dressing as they like to call it). What you're experiencing happens for the same reason. The game judges your distance, thinks you should get a hit and stops your lunge.

Basically aim dressing doesn't help you in any way, it just makes things worse. They argue that it's good for the game because it will make your hits look less sketchy.

Against this kind of juking patience and a step back instead of just waiting or trying to follow them works very well.

If you're playing ranged you need to predict where they will run to, not where they are running.

I.e if they're running left to right wait till they have moved to the left and then throw it to the right.

Or just don't play FPS with a controller, it's horrible, get a pc.

Get closer to the survivor and tap the swing button instead of holding it for a lunge, if you're lunging it's 10 times easier to 360 you but if you tap swing it will 9/10 times get them if you're close because of the way it works it almost locks on but lunging takes longer and gives them the time to make the juke on you

Top 3 options in our experience:

Take a step back to readjust or charge but it helps just to take a second to guarantee the hit.

Tap instead of lunge when super close as said above is also a 9/10 hit unless next to an object.

"Cleaving" ie swinging across the screen surprisingly does well with a controller on PC, idk if this helps you or not but give it a go

it's not like i said it as a the first and only solution but op said they tried waiting, lunging, short lunging..etc and they aren't working so unrelenting is the only thing left i can think of. (the perk exists for a reason)

some people already run useless perks in their every loadout like lightborn or shadowborn just because they make them comfortable so running unrelenting is not the weirdest idea.
