Matches Against Bots Should Give BP and Shards
There it is, friends. The harsh truth. It will make it possible to play the game without dealing with the toxic community, without the cheaters and BMers. After that, Killer bots should be implemented as soon as possible, of course. Playing with three other bots won't be any different from existing soloq anyway.

I would play with my killers often if we get those incentives for the custom games with survivor bots and vice versa.

I agree.

If you're in a custom lobby, everything is unlocked for you though perk and add-on wise... what would you want the BP for if that won't go towards regular matches? Shards should be a hard no for a reward from a bot match.
19 -
No.
This is not a singleplayer game after all and no bots, even if you buff their AI a lot, would replace it. Bots are there when you want to test something or when you just want to turn off for a bit and have easy game(s) without stress. It should not be the main way to play the game.

Agreed, though maybe a lesser percentage of them vs public matches as it'll usually be harder playing against other people than bots, so the harder aspect should reward more. Something like public matches receive 100% of current rewards, bot matches receive 60%-70% of current rewards.
Or keep it how it is now and increase the rewards for public matches. Bot matches give 100% of normal, public matches give 130%-140% of normal.
Could even make it variable based on the rarity of killer or killer/survivor map combo used. The more rare the killer (hence weaker tier) the more rewards you get for playing (ex: playing Twins or Deathslinger gives a reward boost vs Blight or Wesker). Playing Trapper on the Forsaken Boneyard map gives a reward boost.
I'd tend to think this would be faster and easier to implement right away with the existing game setup, then whenever (if ever) the devs get to revamping the maps for better balance they can remove or readjust the bonus rewards.
Either way, I can't wait to play around with the bots. There's a bunch of killers I like playing but rarely get to because they're just not viable above a certain MMR.

I agree, except for Shards.
I think Shards should be an online only thing.
But BP should definitely be given in full to bot matches.

Agreed. I think you should also be able to complete challenges/progress the rift.

No

At most I could see them allowing you to gain some BP from it. The role incentive and offerings having no effect, just base score BP and nothing else. This would give you a 'stress free' method of gaining a foothold by way of unlocking new perks. But that's it.
Challenges aren't challenges if you can do them against bots.
Shards are a store currency and will never be allowed to acquire for 'free'.
EXP against bots isn't real EXP.
MMR against bots is meaningless, it only works by comparing your MMR to that of your opponents, and bots don't have MMR of their own.

If bots were fun enough to play against it could be a decent single player game.
4 -
This is not the way. Blood points are earned through risk and without risk, there is no appeal or pride in accomplishment.
4 -
No.
This is a Multiplayer-game. Having people who constantly only play against Bots is not the right way to do.
I also dont think they should implement Killer-Bots. The effort is way more than the actual benefit and not worth it.

As an alternative to this idea, they could make everything on all your characters totally unlocked for custom matches and then you only need bloodpoints and such to unlock things in the full game. This would have the added benefit of meaning you could more easily fully test things in custom matches on the PTB as well when that’s in effect.

Shards are an earned currency for players willing to invest time with the game online, bolstering queue health and across the board retention.
If you're not in a queue you're not beneficial to the games health.
Also shards are earned at a fairly flat rate, so performance doesn't have much to do with earning them at all.
Bloodpoints are a currency used to unlock consumables to be used in online matches, and act as a interactive resource sink when not used for Perk acquisition.
In customs you have everything unlocked already, and playing customs for Bloodpoints just removes you from the online player queue, impacting queue health.
Performance does play a factor here, and you'll certainly be able to earn more BP in a custom game than a live game (with a proper BP oriented loadout), and I think Party Streamers are also useable in Customs? (So you'd have unlimited BP Offerings compared to online, which seems problematic). So you'd get a bunch more BP in customs than live.
For the above, what about more BP is it that you want? Is the Bloodweb limited in the addons/Items it offers each bloodweb which can cause you to use more BP in getting something you want to use? Just want faster prestige?

If people played bot matches this would have a negative impact on matchmaking so No.
4 -
When we reach the distant but inevitable time where the servers go offline and DBD shuts down, then they should do this... but as it stands, I don't think this is a good idea. It pulls from matchmaking and it makes it really easy to automate shard farming without ever being caught. DBD's meant to be a multiplayer game.
2 -
Yes but put a limit on it
Players can earn ~1m bp from bot matches at 150% efficiency (this is a hard cap that never resets per account)
after that put a either massive penalty on it so you still feel like you get a bit from testing like only earning 10~20%
It becomes something for new players to gain a little bit of bp and experience outside of multiplayer matches so they can enter the game more prepared, 1m bp is enough to unlock all the basic perks on ~2 killers and would likely be earned across ~30 odd matches by a new player, giving them a decent foothold rather than playing their first matches with 1-2 perks and never being incentivized to practice, it wouldn't really have any affect on older players but it would give newer players a good incentivized opportunity to try things out in a safe environment and reward them for it
3 -
I dont really see a point in this
Your playing in custom games everything is unlocked so there is no need for BP.
4 -
I dont understand isnt everything in custom games free and maxed? If customs is all you want to do you dont need the BP?
Personally I dont see why everyone is so hyped about the bots, they're awful and don't really educate on how actual people will play so it's not good in that aspect. Best thing is you can spawn in a bot just to try a killers power or see a map solo
But is there a reason you want to verse bots over real people? Generally curious

Shards, no, they are a hard earned currency and doing well in matches doesn't really affect its earn rate much, so no reason for it.
BP? I don't really mind, I mean if it makes you happy. While I think there are a few people who would like DBD to be a single player game, I don't think a whole lot of people would just move on to bot matches permanently.
The one thing I would like to see though is certain tome challenges being able to be completed in bot matches.
Make it so that current tome can only be done in public matches, but archives can be completed in bot matches.
It would make what little lore there is much more accessible without having to do silly things like throwing an actual public match for it or waiting for the planets to align.

If the alternative was not playing at all, it wouldn't impact it either.

This is something DBD mobile already does. It gives you a fraction of what you would earn in a regular online match, but you still get something.
Truth is, there are plenty of multiplayer only games out there that implement bots as a way to draw in the single player only crowd, and you can still earn experience and rewards as if you were playing in a regular online match.
Personally I don't see a problem with earning blood points and experience by playing against bots. For those that want to play online you have that option, but if you want to earn things by playing offline then you have that option too. Having more options is never a bad thing. To each their own.
3 -
The point of having bots in custom mode is to practice, not avoid playing the game entirely.
4 -
Playing with bots only would very much just feel like training grounds. The AI is not advanced enough to offer a significant challenge, and getting BP and such for basically little time or effort feels cheap. It wouldn't be right to reward someone for repetatively playing very easy mode.
As a training ground, that should be used just for training and testing things out; not getting rewarded for beating a weak AI system.
1 -
then many wouldnt even play publics taht would potentially separate community and would be a terrible idea. this is not a massive multiplayer game.
2 -
For Honor has plenty playing v other players and they have option to play v only bots. Against bots you still earn XP, in game currency, complete challenges, and progress through battle pass. Key thing is they found ways to make the game fun for players to want to play v other players.
If option to play v bots instead of people would make many not want to play v people then BHVR should look at why that is and make the gameplay v other people more appealing instead of using rewards to get players to v other people.
2 -
Really bad idea to make 2 castles - 50% playing against bots and other 50% playing regular matches.
Bots are boring, they don't speak, they don't nod, they don't t-bag, they're lifeless programmed machines.
4 -
Bots also guarantee no toxicity, no one disconnecting because they were downed first, no Killers camping and tunneling, and best thing of all...no one in the post chat is telling me that I need to die.
Yes bots offer a great way to practice, but they can also offer so much more, which is why they're usually a staple in most multiplayer games these days.

You have your fun how you wanna have.=)
0 -
I doubt it will happen for the same reason we haven't gotten new game modes.
0 -
...why? Just because you're too much of a wimp to deal with people, playing against bots will get so boring because you know...nemi zombies exist, and I doubt the bots AI will be any better
2 -
Playing against programmed AI which doing the same thing over and over and over again will get you really stale pretty quickly my friend.=)
As much as I agree about "Toxic community, cheaters, BMers, DCers", there is a lot of lovely and wholesome players in this game.
With bots you will never have a moments of all 5 players in the match silently watching at the fire from a barrel.
You will never see the reaction of other side on some goofed bug.
You will never feel bad for the killer who got 0 hooks by the exit gates.
You will never get to boop the (Ok, I'll stop...)
Any game have a good and bad. Any community as well. You just need to get used to it and adapt.=)
I wish you all besties and more fun moments in your games, let's hope! xD

The guy is just having a simple conversation offering his point of view, but for some reason you have to resort to name calling? No one says you have to like it, but bringing toxicity into conversations like this is what gets threads shut down by the moderators.
If you can't treat others with respect in the message boards, that means that reflects the things you say and do in the game too. So is it really that much of a surprise why so many people look forward to bots?
2 -
That doesn’t make sense.
0 -
Maybe not to you. But I'd wager there are plenty of players who would return if they could play against bots and get progression rewards from it.
1 -
You can play offline next update though. I just think it would be unfair if offline people could farm bloodpoints/ shards while us online players have to actually work for it. I’m glad bhvr isn’t gonna do it.
1 -
Uh...no, it doesn't reflect in game stuff that I do, I don't facecamp and tunnel, i just think people should grow a backbone
1 -
I mean the whole concept of "working for" something in a video game is so Stockholm syndrome from years of psychological conditioning there are always players who have done it the hard way moaning about it when others get an easier path. At the end of the day, game should be fun to play. Not a second or third job.
Could BHVR make more money potentially from game sales this way? I think so.
2 -
Dead by daylight is a multiplayer game, not singleplayer.
1 -
Well the mobile DBD game already set a new precedent. Lots of multiplayer games also allow you to get rewards/XP from playing against bots.
1 -
Why would a training mode give points? It doesn't make sense.

People would just leave their pc set up over night with a couple of macros / scripts running to gain BP, then buy all the strongest stuff and run it online, this sounds like a TERRIBLE idea.
VSing Purple Medkits + Comp / Alch Ring Blights every game, no thanks.
3 -
I think too many people would just farm the bots instead of playing regular matches -- but it also says something bad about the community if the idea of playing against bots is more appealing than playing with other people.
3 -
With how toxic survivors can be, any alternative should be an option.
1 -
People that play single-player won't have a drive to buy cosmetics. I don't think BHVR would risk splitting the base because of that. Besides, I can see a lot of exploiting going on to gain BP overnight with minimal effort, and who will be the wiser?
Still, I like the idea of progressing single player with currency, but only if it's non-transferable.

When I read the for bots should be rewarding, all the reason is no toxic player...
So I ask, why play a multi-player game with strangers?
Why read messege after a match?
Why play a game where the main obejctive is... To be honest, bulliede the people you play against?
I must be honest the reason given for this sugestion, can only make sense to me, is because the people supporting it, does not like playing with/against other people and if that is true, why not play a singel player game?

Bots can only do so much though if you intend to use them as practice. And until they really develop the AI of the bots (and they have a long way to go from what I've experienced on the PTB), there's not going to be much that you can really do for practice with them. You'll be missing out on potential mind-games/outplays that you can perform only when there's another human-being that you're facing. Not to mention as well, Bots run perkless, so you aren't able to adapt/learn how to counter certain things like Dead Hard or sabo plays.
And I do agree that bot games tend to be chill. It was the main mode I did for a while when playing League of Legends solo for any "event" that was going on. Nobody is gonna be toxic because you ended up getting killed by a bot, knowing that they can only do so much (and bot matches still send 2 top vs having a Jungler, so along with not having to worry about the level gaps, there's also no fear of roams you'd expect in a pvp game). But you can manipulate their behavior to a degree usually; they respond to your actions and you can sometimes lead them into doing stupid things. They're not perfect and will become very stale and predictable fast.
Until the AI gets to a point where it can replicate a real match, even one of a low to mid MMR setting, I'd say finding a group of friends to play customs with would be the best option for fun without worrying about the stress of solo queue.

Most games with bots (even league of legens) give progress.
1 -
These multiplayer games you’re talking about probably have more players than dead by daylight. There’s a reason why survivors get 100% bloodpoints almost all the time. Imagine even more survivors leave to play bot matches. Can you really not see the problem?
1 -
But at a fraction of what you would get for playing online. If they did do it like other games you would get 100s maybe 1k BP per match.
