How do you react to players holding keys and maps in the lobby ?
What do you think about them ?
Some think that only noobs have those so they leave the lobby. But players holding the key might have killer tracking add on, or those with the map might have the add on that makes everybody see the map reveals. I feel like there is some stigma against these items when seen in the lobby..
If I use these they are mostly of iridescent quality and the addons being mostly the ones mentioned above. And gameplay role depends on the item too. But I rarely use them.

I don't care. I might side-eye key players because they're likely to come equipped with Left Behind type builds and those guys suck, but they're just as likely to be doing a challenge or using Blood Amber.
Maps are very underrated. If there's a strong hex in play or I'm against a Trapper, and someone's pulsing a Crystal Bead map every ten seconds? That's some good stuff. And if it ends up being useless for that game, so be it, no different from not having an item at all.

I barely even think about it.
Only time I get 'concerned' is when multiple survivors switch to flashlights fairly late in the lobby. But as long as I'm not playing Wraith or Hag then I'll just play normally and do what I can to avoid flashlight saves.

I have to admit that I only care about maps if I'm playing Trapper, and then my response is something along the lines of "oh my god what are the chances".
Keys, I usually raise my eyebrows and mostly just keep an eye out for anyone who seems really really good at looping. Their other uses aren't something to be worried about from the killer's perspective, but you do gotta be aware of Blood Amber.

I think keys and maps are a bit underrated, they do have some good uses. However, they have just as much of a stigma associated to them as flashlights. I will occasionally use maps when I feel like I could use some help finding gens but don't want to use Deja Vu.
I would use more keys, but unfortunately people perceive it as selfish and I don't want them to leave me to die or something.

I see them the same as every other survivor!
Fresh. Beef.

I mean if I’m using hexes then it’s like oh well

When playing killer I prefer it. Means they're not holding toolboxes or med kits. When playing survivor it tends to be kinda meh, as they're either going to skulk around waiting for the hatch or they're noobish and think those items are way more useful than they are.
It's annoying on Hag, but makes little difference on Wraith. Run Franklin's, smack the flashlights out of their hands. Some will pick them back up right away giving you an easy hook or the opportunity to knock them out of the other survivor's hands who come to save the first survivor. Others will DC or hook suicide immediately because they can't play without it. If needed you can play Wraith as a generic M1 killer until you disarm the survivors or push enough away to get a downed survivor to a hook safely. You can't do that as well with Hag.
Indeed. Though I wish the meta would change. I'd like to run something other than Franklin's for 4 out of every 5 SWF trials.

Couldn't care less
In pre-hatch rework, I still wouldn't care UNLESS they did a last second switch, in which case it became my goal to make sure they didn't escape.
But nowadays, they can run keys and maps all day long and I don't really care

My current build is composed of Undying, Devour Hope and Haunted Grounds. If they have a map they must die asap.
Otherwise, I don’t care about anything else. As long as they’re not being toxic all is fair game.
Now, bring in a terrible map offering such as RPD (still hate it after rework) or Dredges map with the poopy house and red light, everyone is going to have a very un-fun game.

Keys I don't care anymore, but maps sat "I'll find every last gen and communicate their location to my teammates. Tunnel and kill me if you want, but und damage will already be done and my legacy will live on, leading to your ruin."
So a map will let me play tougher as usual, but the map bearer is usually not more of a threat, unless I stumble over them with Lethal Pursuer as the first survivor.

Maps and keys are really worthless items in this game. Maybe you can get some value in specific situations, but medkits and toolboxes are far better choices.
Bhvr should really think of a way of reworking them or just remove them from the bloodweb

Tbh i prefer seeing survs with maps and i probably simply can't spot keys in the lobby. Definitely preferable to seeing toolboxes, medkits and torches lol.
Maps are handy but not really necessary for experienced players. And keys, again handy, for the aura reading but hatch key escapes are rare unless you play for them. I've managed 2 so far as surv and as killer I have never ever seen one. And tbh if someone did u lock hatch after I closed it in a match? Fair play to them.

I don’t think much of those items. I rarely even use them.

you tell me there is players shaming over others players items now? just when i thought the community cant be more pathetic than i alredy think..
I dont care, anyone has to know themselves what they bring and why they do it. I rarely take any item with me only when i have challenges. "repair 12 generators" -> toolboxes with charge add ons and brand new parts, paired with built to last perk
"heal survivors x times/seconds" -> medkits obviously.
"blind the killer x times" -> flashlight and im using it at pallets.
i used to have maps and keys for aura reading but now that im more experienced (and have more perks for it) i dont really need em.

As a killer, I don't care.
As survivor, I dodge the lobby, because i automatically assume they gonna have the immersed, selfish gameplay

Keys: don’t bother me.
maps: only matters if I’m playing trapper. Really shouldn’t be able to track his traps at this point.

Long as they dont last second swap to them we're mostly fine with them. (Most them tend to hide all match which kinda annoys us)

This is actually nothing new, but the thing with keys has fallen to the wayside in modern times.
Back when the hatchcwould spawn Inc the open and you could unlock it with a key mid-trial (keyword "hatching an escape"), killers would seek out and tunnel keybearers, especially if they noticed a last second item swap.
But nowadays keys pose no actual threat to killers and if someone wants the hatch that badly, they probably have a tome challenge for it.

I know. But that is about game mechanics then. Todays keys are for aura reading only honestly, like ive never seen as a killer nor survivor bring someone a key and hold it for the last trial, as for nowdays use green keys actually are better than any other keys because of the duration.
But like someone else mentioned here: "muuhhh key. Hes gonna be selfish." like thats litteraly not even a thing. When i didnt have aura reveal perks like bond for example i would bring a key to track my teammates in SoloQ. But some dbd players man.. Keys are ALWAYS used by selfish people as moris are ALWAYS used by killers just to be toxic towards specificly them. At least thats how they think it is, being as pitty as possible.

Funny when Keys are here for aura reading. A key does mean they have no other perk for it so they gonna bring a key with add ons so they can have info. I dont get why you would see that as "selfish" appearantly wanting to have information is selfish i gues.

I know, I use them as a handmade Bond, but still, my experience with random players in solo Q was always an immersive selfish playstyle

ok if you say so

As a survivor I would not mind too much. As a killer would praise them ahah everything that is not a medkit or a toolbox is pretty useless (COMPARED TO HOW BUSTED THOSE ARE)

I don't like Hex perks so I rarely ever use them and I don't care much for bothering to slug for a 4k etc. So neither bothers me as killer... I am more concerned when I see 4x medkits or toolboxes

I actually disagree with people saying key's are weak - I've been saying since the hatch rework they are one of the best solo q items in the game - knowing killer aura, survivor/obsession auras at a range of 32/48 respectively meters at any time is POWERFUL information. Even the obsession aura at all time addon is quite strong.
That being said, as a killer, to be honest I don't even pay attention to my queue, I just load in lobby and tab out until I hear the match load, and quite frankly, I really don't care what items survivors bring 99% of the time. The only time I run an anti-item perk like frankin's is hag, where it's basekit regardless if theres even an item in the lobby or not.
