Basic knowledge against a Hag. (To make your solo experience better and more fun)
Hey guys, expirienced Hag main player here and in this thread I want to bring up some basic knowledge on how to counter a decent Hag in your soloq matches.
I know there is a lot of videos and guides on how to counter any killer, but someone might find something new for themselves.
I will try to be as short and brief as possible but easy to understand. Let's get into it.
When you start the match and noticed that you're facing a hag:
- Try to memorize the place, from where she is came from, this place probably is a starting point of her web.
- Try to memorize as much traps that you've seen as possible, she can place up to 10 traps.
- If you noticed the trap, shine your flashlight (if you have one) at this trap and it will dissapear. Beware that the Hag gets notification if someone destoyed a trap with a flashlight. If you don't have a flashlight just run into direction of the trap but look behind you, after you triggered a trap just keep holding your buttons and don't move your camera, your camera will automatically lock on a trap making you instantly running away from it. (Usually it's S+Shift while looking behind you). The Hag in a 100% will not reach you even if she's using a scrollweel to teleport. You can also spin at the traps, but it's not reliable, even a slight mistake will cost you a health state or even going down.
- Beware of Franklin's, most of Hags using Franklin's to counter survivors flashlights, and if you got hit, don't rush to pick it up, she might placed a trap on it, so crouch over your item and crouch away after picking it up, then disarm it using point 3.
- If the Hag carrying a survivor, try to disarm as much known traps as possible but pay attention, when she hook a survivor she will teleport at the last trap that you disarmed. This will make hag spend time to retrap disarmed traps, more time for you and your team to do gens.
- Hag have a stereoticial "name" of "Proxy camper", so whenever you're going for unhook, look for the traps around the hook, if you can't see one (grass or line of sight), then crouch to it, but be carefull, because she can be around. To prevent these scenarios don't go for unhook while injured, and prevent getting grabbed from a hook (you know how yourself). If you the survivor that was unhooked and hag is not around, instantly crouch and move away from this hook.
- By any means, try to stay away from a basement, If you got yourself caught in a basement hook, in a soloq you're probably going to die. So prevent going down near basement.
- Be really carefull going around pallets and windows, it's the most loved places for Hag to place a trap, crouch if needed, or use the point 3 and get rid of it.
- If she chasing you and you both got to a loop (jungle gym, shack, small loop etc) pay attention to her, when she placing a trap - move away from a loop to a next one. Beware that she can already have a trap at this or next loop.
- As against any killer, try to prevent a 3-gen, because Hag is really strong at defending a chunk of a map (web).
I know it may be a lot to know for a soloq survivor playing for fun but knowing the basics you probably will get a better experience and have more fun going against this killer.
"Or you probably piss her off and she will facecamp you to death, smacking you on hook and nodding, but this is another story..."
Good luck and have fun!

The whole run at a trap while looking behind you is such a lifesaver

Very informative ! I already knew most of it from playing as her but I didn't have much opportunity to pratice disarming the traps without flashlights, so thank you. =)
Do you have the opposite of this post, aka how to counter decent survivor when you're beginning to face them more often as Hag ? My sweet days of encountering survivors who'd almost never gone against her are dwindling and I'm facing more and more decent survivors who both know how to counter her and how to loop me a bit too well for my liking. I'm barely hanging on from 3gen defense most games.
I've tried going for more instadown perks, but that's not quite as efficient when I struggle to counter loops.
I don't have Franklin's (no Leatherface and no Shrine recently), so I'm mostly using a duct tape lethality build, with Corrupt, Haunted Grounds, Make Your Choice and Overcharge, usually with yellow teleportation range addon and yellow setting speed addon. I've also messed with Sloppy Butcher and Shattered Hope because I see a lot of CoH, but so far whenever I take it, no boon.
I'd love any advice if you think of any =)

Oh God this will take me forever to make. xD I'd rather just upload my gameplay as a Hag, or show it through a translation via Discord, but it's not going to happen.=)
I just want to say... That what I described in the first post might not work against an actual Hag main, they play differently, their traps placed hidden from line of sight and they uses "camera lock" as a weapon.=) They don't always teleport at the trap, they know when they need to teleport and when not to, and they uses only 1 trap at ANY loops, aside from the main building.
I didn't mentioned that Hag can play with Shackles... Then it's a whole another story...
Tho I might make another post when the bots comes out, so I'd make a screenshots how you should trap in different loops (1 trap only), and how you use "camera lock" in the best advantage.

It's alright, I don't want to take too much of your time haha !
If you ever put out more info on how to play her efficiently, I'll gladly read that, but I'll try researching more on my own as well. =)
Thank you !

You can use that "God forgive me for that word..." TECH in the chases as well, but beware that you can bump into an object or bump into her after triggering a trap, so at your own risk. xD
