Object of Obsession is a weird perk
The title says it all honestly, OOO is one of those perks that just feels strange to equip in the context of Solo Q, which feels really weird to say considering that, once upon a time, OOO was one of those perks that when i saw it used in a match, I would just not even bother playing, because the only time it was ever really used was by either a VERY ballsy solo player, or a SWF bully squad, with the latter being far more common then the former, and i don't think i'm alone in that observation.
OOO, rather then being a absolute mistake of game design, now does this
This perk is...weird, and quite frankly i don't know why, this perk not only makes every single aura reading perk work in your favour, but it also lets you see the killer from across the map every 30 seconds, Information is a extrememly powerful tool for Survivor (hence why SWF will always beat Solos), and being able to see who the killer is very early (or immediately if they're running Lethal Pursuer) is very handy, but at the same time, they see your aura as well, the 6% buff to healing, repairing, and cleansing is basically useless, and the perk does quite literally nothing if you're not the obsession and the killer doesn't have any aura reading perks, plus the perk is basically a giant neon sign that reads "you can find me every 30 seconds, hiding is not a option for me", AND TO TOP ALL OF THAT OFF, Stealth killers and Undetectable screw this perk over royally, since you can't see the killer but they can see you, a perk like that sounds really bad, but honestly, i kinda dig it. This perk lets you know if, for example, a killer is camping or chasing somebody else, meaning you'll know if it's safe to go for a save or not, and it has a bit of utility in chase, since knowing where the killer is behind a wall is always helpful
OOO is a strange perk for Solo Q, but it's really fun to use IMO

I mean Empathy also lets you know if the killer is chasing another survivor and Kindred is the best aura-reading perk for identifying a camp situation. Object of Obsession is unfortunately outclassed by many other aura-reading perks. My biggest complaint with OoO is that it doesn’t work with undetectable but the killer can still see the survivor’s aura when it pings. That should not be a thing; they just shouldn’t see one another’s aura.

Object of obsession fills the same niche as distortion imo which is identifying aura perks. Problem is distortion just does that better since you don’t put yourself at risk.
OoO is only useful in really niche scenarios and even then I’d just run any other info aura perk especially alert or fog wise

Might be why i like it more then most, i really like risk/reward perks even if they're outclassed by other similar perks

It’s a fun one for sure. I do think several other aura perks for survivor are overall better than OoO but I think OoO is fine as it is for what it’s meant to be. I just bring it sometimes if I really feel like wanting to be chased or want a challenge.
I also have this unique build that makes it a bit safer: OoO, OTR, Sole Survivor, Boon: Shadow Step. All of these other 3 perks block your aura when you want them to, which disables OoO since the killer can’t see your aura (but you won’t see theirs either when that happens). Just got unhooked? Killer can’t use your OoO to find and tunnel you as easily, and you have the Endurance if you need it. Hopeless game? You still have a chance to escape as last survivor since your aura is blocked within 72m (and you open the gate faster). And you can use your boon if you want that effect in a certain area of the map whenever you want to.

It needs to burn in hell

It used to be an horrible perk (that guaranteed someone would have a bad time in the match : sometimes the perk holder, most of the times the killer)
Now it's manageable (and suicide against some killers/builds)

We hate the perk as much as GANNTM loves spirit. We see red when we see an object. It is one of the few things that will get us genuinely angry and think back on the past before it was reworked into what it is now. WE LOATH IT.
