Is there a way to counter killer instinct?
If not, why is there no survivor perk to counter killer instinct?

No, and that’s the point. It’s not supposed to be able to be countered directly.
If there was a perk that countered it, it would be useless against some killers and god-tier against others. Imagine if Legion didn’t get KI. That’s a huge component of their power.

Its literally the killers instinct and you can't fool that. They are supposed to be good at what they are doing, no matter how sluggish their control may feel or how much more the survivors know about the killers power and their progress :)

thanks for the explanation. it makes sense though i'll try to distance myself from the legion. I know you can crouch pyramid heads torment trail and stationary viktor's killer instinct.
and oblivious also counters it but what legion runs that?

It's not that strong. It's like aura reading but weaker, since you can't judge the distance or direction real well, and of course the survivors can move before you get there.

Apart from the advice given on how to make the KI information useless you can also counter it by not getting into situations that would trigger KI in the first place. Stuff like being oblivious/outside the TR against Legion (Oblivious can be forced with Blue Glyphs even if the killer is running no oblivious perks/addons), not revealing Ghostface, not being near opened Demogorgon Portals, not running over PH's trails, crouching while near Victor, etc.

Killer Instinct was created for the explicit purpose of being a mechanic that a survivor couldn't counter due to it being tied to the killer's power.
They USED to use auras but began making aura blocking perks. You can see this on Trapper or footage of Old Freddy where they used auras instead.

Cannot be countered. Even tho, I would be happy if they would not implement Killer Instinct in almost every Killer Power since its introduction. Knight does not have it, but since Legion, so many Killers have some form of Killer Instinct. And some are not really needed, e.g. Weskers Killer Instinct or especially Artist.

In fact, the knight also has Killer Instinct. Killer Instinct occurs when a guard downs a survivor.
That situation rarely occurs, lol

You can counter some KI, e.g. you can prevent being detected by idle victor by crouching towards him. This way you can take him out without gviing charlotte a chance to swap. But usually KI cannot be prevented. Thats why you should play killer from time to time, even for survivor mains, so you know which info the killer gets when you do certain things (e.g. using vaccine or spray against Nemesis or Wesker).
KI is nearly always related to a killers power (rancor is the only exception I can think off right now). And (aspects of) killer powers generally cannot/should not be nullified by using a perk. We had that in the past (trapper traps being permanently destroyed by sabo), but the devs moved away from that approach a while ago.

No direct counter and it’s not needed/wanted at all.
but i would love to see an additional effect on Calm Spirit where the frequency of the killer instinct gets lowered or something?

I don't really mind it on them. You know who really doesn't need KI? Spirit, and yet...

That one add on where you need to stand 2m from the husk?

That another one where you need to be 4m near Spirit during phase-walk.

Yh no way to counter killer instinct. And tbh there shouldn't be. It's such an important part of a lot of killer's basekits. Ghostface, twins and legion would be next to useless without it. Knight, nemesis, wesker and Demo make good use of it. And lot of killers use it with addons as well. Anything that messed with killer instinct that hard would break so many killers.

i think artist needs it and i am glad they gave it to her. a crow can miss a survivor by an inch and you'd have no idea if you missed or a someone wasn't actually there. especially since survivors can see where the crows coming from when they get released and just do a little spin to dodge them.
