DBDs FOV isn't 87 degrees like some people think

Many people state that DBD has 87 degrees FOV for killer. This has been found in the config file of the game. But if you check Unreal Engine, you'll find that this is actually the Horizontal FOV, not the "actual" FOV.

Put DBD into a site like the "Mouse Sensititivy", which has data from lots of games about DPI and FOV, and you'll find that DBD actually has an FOV of around 71.

Shadowborn increases the FOV by 15, putting it far closer to what "actual" 90 degree FOV should look like.

So next time someone tells you that DBD has 87 FOV, tell them that that's the Horizontal FOV, not the actual FOV, and that the actual FOV is closer to 70.

I think it's time to add an FOV slider, but I think that's a given.

    Im sure the FoV people talking about is Horizon one, not Vertical.

    I dont think add 2 numbers and divide by 2 saying its the FoV though.

    Make me wonder, does ShadowBorne increase Vertical FoV?

    No, most people have no idea there's a distinction between the two. They say that "since DBD has 87 FOV, this is good enough" when in practice, it's not actually a comfortable FOV for most players since it's closer to 70 actual FOV.

    And yes, Shadowborn increases vertical FOV as well. With it, you get 85 actual FOV.
