Not a bug but I need help with my internet BADLY.

Before you go and say "Just google it.", I have and no one has given a proper answer to it. So in about all of my games, I get timed out. Ever since I got this new internet, it's been doing it with dbd now. I played this for so long because it didn't interfere with my internet. Since it does now, I've been locked out of playing due to the penalties I've been given thanks to this issue. It's the typical other players moving in a straight direction and running into a wall. Does anyone have experience with this and have a solution? Since we finally have our own internet, I should be able to interfere with it but we weren't given the admin credentials for the router we now own.

Are you sure only DBD has problems? I’d recommend to test with other online games.

We would need to know which platform you are on, the kind of internet you have, your country, etc. How good ones internet is and the issues that it has can stem from multiple sources. A complete picture would make it easier to figure out.

Right off the bat, however, I will say that some ISPs throttle the amount of requests that they get, which can cause the App doing the requests to not function properly or for the internet itself to shut off. Satellite internet is particularly known for this.

Through wired internet (cable, copper, or fiber), it could still (in theory) be a throttle that the company has in place based on your level of service/plan, or a restriction brought on by how they route the signal to your residence.

If you are using a router and not going directly through the modem, that could be an issue. The modem itself could be an issue as well.

Something you MIGHT be able to do is contact your ISPs service desk and report an issue. From there, give them your info and have them actively monitor your connection from their end. Run an App that causes disconnects and let them look at how the connection behaves. In the very least, they should be able to tell you if it is something on their end or yours. From there, you can start sorting out where the problem actually lies.

Well, I play on pc, have internet with 30 megabytes of download speed and I'm in 'murica. It shouldn't be that bad since I'm in a major city. Speed isn't an issue and to @legacycolt, I did my best to clarify it was with every game that had online capabilities.

As someone that works for a telecommunication company and does construction for fiber optic networks, trust me when I say that being in a big city doesn't actually mean your internet will be better. I totally get why people would EXPECT it to be better, but the reality is actually pretty rough.

Anyways, I still recommend contacting your ISP and having them monitor your connection on their end while you run something that disconnects. They can watch the signal to see if anything shows issues on their end, and if it does, they can hopefully fix it.

I'll assume that's as easy as you're saying it is. Let's hope. :>

Any time I've had to do it, it was fairly painless. I explained the main issue, and asked them if they could see anything going on with my connection while I actively caused a disconnect with them monitoring my connection. Hopefully your ISPs customer service is as good as the ones I've had.

Most games use UDP, which doesn't automatically retransmit missed packets (UDP is connectionless). Games use it because the retransmission timeout of TCP is absurdly long for real-time use cases, so game netcode handles missed packets on its own. However, if packet loss exceeds a certain percentage, it can cause excessive desync or it can drop you from the game session.

Try running an hour-long ping test and see if you are experiencing any packet loss. If you are, the problem could lie anywhere between your computer and the game servers, but the most likely culprit is either your hardware (modem and/or router) or faulty wiring.

30Mbit doesn't help determine the type of connection; it could be DSL, cable, or fiber, for example. Generally if you have a problem with fiber cabling, your connection just won't work at all. Degraded phone/coax cabling can cause packet loss with DSL/cable connections. This is particularly likely in older buildings, where the cabling was installed before broadband Internet access was widely available.

If you are using a wired connection to your router, bad ethernet cables can cause packet loss; if you are using wireless, there might be too much interference on your selected wireless channel.

It could be a problem within the ISP's network, such as an overloaded neighborhood switch.

Basically, it could be... pretty much anything. My intuition says it's packet loss though, likely attributable to one of the factors mentioned above.

Oh I constantly get that little icon that shows packet loss. Too bad I'm not the owner of it as my family is and they're too forgetful.
