What are we supposed to do in this situation?
So, 2 players are dead, one gen left, and 2 survivors still alive. I work on a gen for about 20 seconds, the other guy is not. Then the killer comes to my gen, and we play hide-and-seek, for 1,5 minutes at least, and the whole time, the other survivor did not touch a single gen. (i also run bound, so i know he wasn´t near me and the killer, too)
Up until know, in a situation like this, you could only guess if the other player works on a gen or not, but now we know.
So after the killer left anyway, what am i supposed to do? if i want to win, i should just hide like the other guy, because thats the clever move, instead of taking all the risk.
But isnt that a hostage-situation then?
But i dont want the other guy to escape on my expense without doing anything for it, and while i would give them the benifit of the doubt before, now i know for sure.
So how do you handle this situations?

I understand not wanting the other guy to get out because they didn't even try. If I am in that situation and realize the other survivor is just going to hide the entire time. I'll go find the killer myself to die. It's almost like the reverse scenario of killer giving hatch for a faster end game, I give my life for a faster end game that is over. Something should be done about it eventually but hiding indefinitely is not something that should ever be allowed.

Unfortunately if u wanna excape u gotta hide as well in that situation. Most of time I'll just stay on the gen cause hiding is boring and could go on forever.

It'd still bhvrs responsibility to implement something that gives survivor afk crows if they don't interact with something to progress the game state for a certain amount of time.

Ahh that situation sucks. You aren't realistically winning conventionally. Being honest? I'd probably either hide too and hope the other survivor gets caught out first to give me a chance at hatch. Or go to the killer and offer them a gift on the offchance they'll release me. Depends how stubborn I'm feeling.
In all probability killer will probably hook you if you try to make nice. But you never know. As killer I have spared survs in the same situation and gone off to hunt down the hider. If I'm the killer in that situation I prefer to punish the hider who refuses to engage with the game rather than the player who I know is still trying to do gens. And I always have a soft spot for a surv who takes the knee and offers me an item.

I just die in that situation, and variations of it come up most every match.
I want to learn the meta survivor game, it involves working with the team. The hiding in a corner waiting on the end game for hatch seems like an artifact of an older time in the game.
In short, you asked what others personally do:
Keep running the killer or pushing the gen.
Die and say GG to the killer and silently roll your eyes at the other survivor.
You did your job, you lost the game, you won by accomplishing your team goals.

Yes, it's a hostage situation.
No, you won't get banned for it. A prolific streamer and Fog Whisperer confirmed that BHVR *do not* care about this, as it's indistinguishable from hiding for hatch.
You probably should just concede the loss, be a good sportsman and not stall the game out for 20 minutes in the hopes of getting hatch. But that's purely a 'don't be a butt' thing.

Well for one, your chances of winning is already down the drain at this point. Might as well go for broke and still commit to gen even if ur teammate is hiding.
What u dont wanna do is rat out ur teammate.

YOU definitely do not have a higher chance of escaping by sticking to the last gen. But I know you mean well so thanks for the advice

I just stay on a gen and then die. I'm not gonna prolong the game for myself just for a chance at hatch. The hiding survivor can have it.

Yup. I'll go and seek out the killer and just run them for as long as I can, until I eventually go down.

In one such games, the "good" survivor understood I was as pissed as him about the last one (to be fair, that Claudette was the main reason the two others were already dead). He went to find her and I she ended up on a hook.
Survivors turning against a lazy coward is not common but far from being rare. They'll often go as far as throwing to ensure the traitor doesn't survive.

If it's reasonable to find the survivor actively not trying. They are dead and the other is out the hatch. Can't stand people who give up like that.

The thing is, how does the killer know? He was around my gen searching for me for a long time, but i was activly avoiding him, so he didnt find me. How does he know in the end i was the one doing the gen?
Also, i had heard that a lot in the past from killers, but whenever i got found on a gen and the other guy was not, i died on the hook, because the killer didnt want to waste even more time. So even if you do it, it is quite rare, at least in my matches.

Then the killer finds and downs you and leaves you to bleed out for the 4k
The main reason why Unbreakable should become basekit when 2 survivors are left in the game

How are Killers supposed to 4k if solo queue survivors actually play as a team and not pull Blendette strats??

That sucks but I'd try to do gens; I had one of my worst games in the old Eyrie of Crows with a very poor matchmaking result between me and a brand new Huntress. One survivor just switched lockers after the other two survivors died and it took me 40 minutes to get the last gen done and open a gate (and the other survivor who was locker hopping unfortunately got out as well).
If I hadn't escaped because the Killer had been able to down me like what happens in every other game where MMR doesn't completely drop the ball I could have finished two more enjoyable games in that time period. If I had tried to hide as well I would have spent 40 minutes not gaining BP, being incredibly bored and not having anything productive done. It was still tedious but hiding would have made the game even worse.
So, in my opinion, just do gens. It's the fault of the hiding survivor the game is in that situation; not the Killer. If you just hide you're making the game less enjoyable for yourself so salvage what you can in terms of BP, move on to a more enjoyable game and hope the Killer finds the hiding survivor.

So, excessive hiding is only a hostage situation if it goes on 'for a long time'. Obviously there's some subjectivity to that, but there's intended to be nuance. It's not like sirens are going off and your account gets banned if you let go of a gen at any point during a game, just that the game does/can hit a stalemate point if no one is ever trying to complete their objective for a long time.
The fact that you are trying to work on gens generally means you're ok in that situation, even if the killer is searching for 'a minute or so' because hiding is appropriate gameplay there.
Usually in that situation tho, it's just a matter of time until you get caught and the other guy keeps hiding. If I'm the killer in that game, I'll usually try to let the useful survivor have hatch and hunt down the useless one. But there's no guarantee other killers will do that.
Your options aren't great either way. You basically get to choose:
* The good teammate. Try to do the gen until you get caught. You aren't breaking any rules, and are actively playing/trying to progress the game, and eventually you'll get caught and the other guy might get hatch.
* The altruist. Giving up to the killer to move into the next game. Same effect as the good teammate, but you're giving up to avoid an extended game. Also not reportable or breaking rules, but I also don't fault survivors who actually want to survive.
* The rat. Find the other survivor and hide with them, making as much noise as you can for the killer and never let them get away from you. Leave scratch marks so the killer finds both of you. Unsportsmanlike, and touches on 'working with the killer' if you get hatch, but the other guy gets punished too. At best it's sandbagging, but the game should progress when you're found.
* The snitch. Boldy make a deal with the killer and go find the other guy with him. Unsportsmanlike, and technically reportable as 'definitely working with the killer', but still an option.
