Let's Play "Guess This Perk"...

I am going to give a vague description or scenario involving a perk, and Ill leave it for the community to decide what perk it is. Tomorrow, I will gather the results and make a follow-up thread to discuss everything.

Are you ready? Let's begin.

Guess This Perk:

  • Can be waited out, but has niche scenarios where you can do other things.
  • Can extend the game by 20 seconds or more depending on the situation.
  • Requires both sides to play around this perk existing once it is known about.

Best of luck to the community!

Well if you only play around it after it's already known about then that eliminates DH. You have to play around DH even before it's known about which is part of why it's so strong. Pretty much eliminates Eruption too for the same reasons although it's usually much harder to play around if you're not in a SWF. But these days, it's pretty safe to assume it's there until you know it isn't. But only one side really needs to play around Eruption. The killer just...uses it. A survivor with DH on the other hand has to play around the fact that the killer knows they have it, once they've already used it once.

Deadlock maybe? You can do other objectives while waiting for the gen to unblock such as healing or even just going to a different gen and you don't really do anything about it in advance until you actually see it as survivor. Killer technically needs to play around it as well because it can prevent them from kicking a gen.

Don't think it's DMS as survivors need to play around that at the start of the match before it's known about, not just after.

My only other thought besides Deadlock would be NWO; survivors once they see it have to wait it out and the killer can play around the information they get from it (which door was touched) and also know that they have a bit more time to chase someone while the gates can't be opened. Survivors meanwhile can heal and/or look for noed, if applicable.

    Head On?

You can't really wait out a Head On, so I don't think that's the one.

Dying Light fits criteria 2 and 3, but it can't be waited out either. I do think it's a killer perk, rather than a survivor perk, since most survivor perks don't really have a 'wait it out' option. I also thought it might be Thrilling Tremors, which technically qualifies, but it only lasts 16 seconds, not 20+.

My interpretations of the descriptions give me the following assumptions:

    1. The fact that it's 20 seconds -or more- makes me think it's got a variable timer.
    2. The fact that -both- sides need to play around it, including the side that brings it, means it cannot be something completely passive that would activate under the most basic gameplay, it requires some investment to activate.
    3. The fact that both sides need to play around it, including the side it's used against, means it has counterplay.
    4. It can be waited out, meaning it's not permanent. It's therefor not a hex, for example.
    5. It extends the game, leading me to believe it's a gen-stopper perk. Theoretically, it could also be a chase-breaker or anti-hook perk, but time won from those is way harder to track.

Soul Guard comes to mind too, being able to extend the game by preventing a hook-state from a down, the endurance can be waited out, and the killer needs to avoid slugging for too long, while the survivors need to not break a hex. Only trouble there is that I can't really see what the 'Niche scenario where you can do something else' is.

Provided we're not overthinking this, this is a fun game!

Barely play killer and only been playing 15 months and don't have them unlocked so not 100% sure exactly on their inner workings but could it be a killer end game perk. Maybe Blood Warden?

Borrowed time? It doesnt extend the game exactly unless extending a chase counts as extending the game.

    Dwight's "hide in locker" perk?

Idk this is a good one, my guess was going to be kinship but it doesn't really fit.

Looking forward to seeing what it is

My first thought was NOED or Devour Hope but those don't really extend the game.

    Thrilling tremors is 16 seconds.

DMS sounds good but I don't really know the times for perk levels.

No Way Out I think fits the best. Except doing something else while waiting it out isn't niche. There's almkst always something to do. But I think that's my answer.

Or repressed alliance. But again I don't know times by perk tier.

First thing that comes to mind is Bloodwarden, but that's 30 seconds. There's also Dissolution and Merciless Storm.

I'm just gonna take a wild guess and say Dissolution.

    Eruption....

    It can be waited out...

But you can do other things in niche scenarios...

Can add 20 seconds or more to a match

Does require both sides to play around it once it's known
