Tinkerer is dead
HUD makes it so Survivors can see 70% gen progress. They know to get out of a dodge for a few seconds.

when a gene reaches 70% the gene will be blocked for 15sec and it will be used more frequently

You could already reliably tell when the gen was at 70% by looking at the pistons, which is honestly probably easier to approximate than eyeballing 70% on the very tiny HUD icons.

This wasn't something you couldn't already do before though, you could still estimate 70% on the normal repair progression bar.

Perk died after the nerf to once per gen. Personally I just never see it used anymore.

The survivor HUD has literally no effect here. I could already tell when a gen was at 70% based on the bar.

All Survivors can now see the Killer is going to be undetectable, not just the one on the triggering gen.

I mean if i realize killer has tinkerer i'm always keeping a closer look when gen reaches the tinkerer trigger point..HUD does nothing for me, i even callout "tinkerer range" to my friends on discord just in case killer has it when i repair a gen

Which is information that SWF already had anyway so I don’t see that as an issue.
I never see Tinkerer anymore since its nerf anyway and I already stopped using it myself well before it was nerfed because of how obnoxious it used to be.

It's crazy how they kill perks that could be anything other than slowdown... Yet people complain about slowdown.

Once more, this is info a SWF would already have.
"My gen's at 70%, watch out for Tinkerer"
Thus, this is just levelling the playing field, which is the entire point of these icons.

This is not about nerfing killers. It's about equalising SWF and Solo survivors.
Trying to balance killer is a fruitless task if survivors are so different in capabilities depending on their party make up, and is why balance has always been awful. It's why you stomp all over solo survivors but don't stand a chance against SWF. It's why killers have been complaining about survivors playing with their friends for years.
It'll take time for the gamestate to settle into this new format and for them to work out where killers and survivors should be.

Altho OPs point isnt valid imo, tinkerer was useless against swf, like always, you can just call out that the killer lost his tr or that you gen is close to 70%, idk how this is a rare thing to know.

I mean, yeah its less effective but it still gives you the information.
I wouldn't consider it a dead perk.
I just didn't see how the HUD was to blame, thats all

I still use it, but you do have to remember which gens have and haven't triggered it yet. In fairness, it was a bit strong before.

Tinkerer - 16s undetectable once per generator
Ruin - 0.25% regression each second and it kills itself when a survivor dies or dc´s + Hex Perk
PGTW - 20% of current gen progress and the timer doesn´t freeze during a gen kick.
Undying - protects your totem once and alerts survivors when aura read by it.
I´ve never seen any of these perks used by killers after their nerfs.

I don’t pay attention because I’m a paranoid schizophrenic constantly swiveling my camera around as I repair when a killer isn’t chasing someone else.
Thats the one thing the survivor HUD has killed - the suspense factor.

Tinkerer was dead long before the hud update. When it was converted to once per gen it became garbage.

Tinkerer is absolutely a dead perk, there is no reason to run it when better undetectable and info perks are at your disposal, no decent player will get surprised by tinkerer and on the killers that can get to the gen on time before it pops, there are way better alternatives.

Tinkerer + Old Pop used to be my go to build on high mobility killers that can move around the map relatively fast such as Oni or Blight.
It was a well designed and healthy perk for the game as you had to get to the gens and use the PGTW you just got for hooking a survivor meaning that a Killer running Pop and Tinkerer would rarely camp the hooked survivor if he wanted to get value out of his perks.
It was a strong combo of perks true but it promoted healthy gameplay and rewarded the killer for winning chases and not camping near the hook.
But both of these perks had to get hit by the nerf hammer because they were so popular back then Tinkerer was literally basekit on Blight and Oni.
Tinkerer isn't dead beceause of the new survivor HUD it's dead because it doesn't work like it used to,Tinkerer can only trigger ONCE per generator now which is why you rarely see anyone run this perk anymore.
