New chapter clarification?
This video (below) sums up that this chapter was most likely meant to be licensed but what we’ve ended up with is a chapter that feels like it’s either an embarrassingly incomplete licence or an unimaginative incomplete ‘original’. Either way, I’m sorry, but it’s not a great final product.
Is there any way we could get an official clarification on what has happened here licence wise because at this stage, I would prefer this killer and survivors not be released with this chapter at all.

True, just thought it’s worth a shot on the off chance we get an explanation for this monstrosity of a chapter.

Id rather them cancel this chapter and just make QOL improvements. Even the fogwhispers who are usually scared to say anything negative all hate it from what I have seen.
Bring us the bp spending update!

As Paulie alludes to, this is probably the rumored lost license due to leaks. But hey, any time you can lose a license, re-skin it to a generic bland chapter, and jump over dollars to pick up pennies by pushing it out anyway, you gotta do it.

Agree that SM mori makes more sense if it is an invisible predator instead because surv looks worried but dont look at her or resist or anything as if SM wasnt there.
I could belive that bhvr lost predator rigths so we have "predator at home".

I didn’t even know Predators used drones or radar thing or anything similar to those? Well I guess if that’s true then yeah.
though…. This would only really explain poor models and animations, right? Like, actual gameplay, perks (teamwork perks introduced with a licensed chapter? And how would they fit into predator?) and stuff would have been same-ish on the licensed chapter. It’s not like they needed those people working on that stuff to jump into modeling/animation..
even the shelter woods rework doesn’t really fit into this, like.. that’s clearly designed for the original character and doesn’t have anything to with Predator? But then again, I only ever watched one or two of those movies and that’s been a while ago..

unrelated. But at least in case of Leatherface iirc the devs actually gave us insight info, that Hillbilly was supposed to actually be Bubba but they didn’t get the license but got it later on. Which is likely why they wouldn’t tell us if this was the case now - talking ‚negatively‘ about the Predator license now might prevent any future collab

Any game company that truely cares about quality over quantity would absolutely not release this chapter until:
1) Every and all references/hints to Prey are taken out of the chapter - truly make it an original if you can’t get a license.
2) Complete visual rework of killer - lean into the ‘skull merchant’ name ig. Skull mask, bone weapon maybe?
3) Power tweaks
4) Good chase music
5) A mori and animations that makes sense
6) Lore overhaul to adapt to new changes
I would have preferred if they said they couldn’t release a new chapter due to complications, sorry but here’s the map and eruption reworks for now!

I don't know what's worse
That this Predator theory is plausible
Or the fact that people are believing it instead of the more logical conclusion that BHVR just made an extremely poor, low effort and half baked chapter

Right?!?!? That's the worst part. At *best* this a panicked rush job due to a license holder backing out. At worst, this is a super low effort rip off.

Pulling off your license just because of the possibility that it could get leaked seems so... dumb? No idea why would you cancel your collab at last minute just for that. I wonder if that's the reason why BHVR finally decided to do something about their mole after all this time.

Yep but it happens.. sadly. The people will never actually know, but I promise you these types of things are covered up nonstop behind the scenes.

Yeah I agree. I think people are making massive leaps to connect the chapter to Predator. Is it possible? I guess. But I think it's unlikely, and even if it was true, the devs will not be able to/not want to talk about it, so why does it matter? You either like the chapter as is, or you don't. That it maybe.. possibly.. could have been intended to be Predator at one point is irrelevant.

Ya Paulie AND King are bashing it like it rightfully should be imho.. Kind of nice to see them telling people like it is instead of sugarcoating anything and everything like Otz does constantly. Predator will never be in the game now.. :/ Nothing like a few bad apples ruining it for ever single other person in the class..
