At what hookstage do you think the first sacrifice would be fair
I personally don't think you need to hardcore, get a survivor out at hook 3 ,tunnel to win. I believe that it can backfire massively if the survivors know what they are doing.
That said DbD being an elimination game where survivors on dead hook are equally as effective as freshook survivors on gens it is no question that getting someone out asap is a smart move
Going for 9 hooks before someone is sacrificed is throwing. If you pull that off then you just outclassed the survivors massively.
So on avarage, what hookstage do you people think would be a fair time for a survivor to be eliminated.
Personally i think by hook 5 is a fair but still strong time to get someone out.
Really curious about this cause i feel opinions are going to be pretty divided

I think getting 2 chances is enough. The game needs more solo player unhooking builds though. That way players that fear getting face camped can counter it or shut up their whining.
gens need to be slower to complete and hooks need to take more time to sacrifice. The game finishes in 2.7 minutes now.
the game should last 5-10 minutes. Otherwise you’re just grinding to grind.

it's more a context thing in my eyes tbh. i don't blame people for playing to win but if you're unironically tunneling at match start you're cringe. If i would have to put a hard number on it tho i would probably say 4 hooks is probably where the line of tunneling is

1 hook, too many expected chances have some survivors flipping out over their own personal failures. There is just no way to safety net bad players without the good ones taking advantage of them.
Survivors should be more cautious and aware than expectations of a free bailout.

For us a "fair" time is after everyone is hooked at least once or if there's 1 gen left with everyone still up. At that point either everyone had a "turn" or we're in a corner as killer.

Isnt it kinda unfair to expect the killer to juggle the survivor hooks to make it "fair" for them while survivors generally finish their gens in one sitting if possible? Even *gasp*

While true, the question only really asks what feels fair to you personally. This game is a vs game so everything goes (within the rules) wether it feels "fair" or not.

I would say 5 is fair too, hook survivor 1, hook someone else, survivor 1, someone else, survivor 1. I would argue this is generally safer and, on average, more successful than getting a kill at 3 hooks due to pressuring all survivors by forcing unhooks and spreading pressure. Compare to putting all your eggs in one basket and letting 3 chases deciding the outcome while 3 other survivors slam gens. Worth noting that each hooks isn't always 1 chase but assuming it's you'll be more reliable going for multiple survivors.
I've heard some people suggest 6 hooks is the best option in pubs, 1 hook/chase on everyone to feel the waters on each survivor then choose one to kill from their but I feel like that's a preference of play style and you don't need to get the hook to feel how good the survivor is.

Yeah i agree, going for 5 hook kill for me always seemed way more concistant if the survivors have their wits about them
Going for 3 hooks against one survivor in a row feels to me like a zerg rush. Either you win fast or you lose fast
Should have probably specified that. I do indeed mean fair for you personally, not what would be fair for who you face

Went against a Bubba a while back that camped each and every hook until they either entered second stage or died if hooked again. When asked they said they didn't like chases, only wanted enough Bloodpoints to replace any add-ons used, and remain at their current MMR. I then asked if they enjoy stuff like that when they play surv, and the response was they have never played as a surv, not even for daylies.
So I'm pretty sure what number of hooks they strive for. They were a fellow console killer and we found each other three more times over the years, with them playing thier style every time.

Before I read what hook # you thought I was thinking 5 as well. 5 is playing decently fair as if someone dies on 5 no one was really tunneled out, but you were still hooking efficiently.

5 seems pretty good. Sure, it might mean two Survivors have been completely ignored, but that's kind of a given. There's always a chance that you just don't find one of them and have a reason to ignore the fourth--everything including Myers' perks, for instance.

I usually try not to kill anyone without having hooked at least 3 survivors at least once. So this usually means anywhere from 5-7 hooks total depending on the situation.
That said, once there’s only 1 or 2 gens left I’ll start not caring about it as much.
But I would rather lose more and do this than just hardcore camp and tunnel every game because I find it boring and unfun both for the survivors as well as myself.

I try to do the three first hooks then it’s whoever I happen to find/hate. If the person just unhooked is running a build I find annoying (DH + Boil Over + Maps with Height Drops and no high up hooks) I’ll want them gone. I can deal with a SB Nea or a Gen Monke Ace, but a semi-trolling Bill? I want him gone.
