At the start of the trial this ability can be used. Hold the active ability button to assimilate random survivor in the trial. Once in the survivor form you gain a 3rd person, fast vault pallet and windows, gen repairing, entering lockers, healing and the undetectable status effect. THE THING can injure survivors in this state however once injuring a survivor you reveal your true form and the cool down of the ability begins. The next survivor you hit you will assimilate.
In this state you gain additional bonus effects.
All survivors start the trial with the paranoia bar, survivors gain progress to the bar when within range of one of THE THING's additional life forms, missing skill checks while the thing is healing you or repairing a generator, THE THING hitting a survivor and being in proximity to the assimilated survivor. Additionally survivors will gain bonus paranoia from survivors he has assimilated, for instance you assimilate a Dwight in the trial, survivors will then become paranoid around this Dwight giving the killers bonus effects to this survivor but all effects will be halved. The survivor loses these effects once another survivor has been assimilated.
Survivors can gain 4 stacks of paranoia.
25%-The creatures from instinct begin following survivors
50%-Creatures will latch onto generators regressing them
75%-While THE THING is in assimilation, survivors will begin to breath rapidly and their screens darken. Creatures can hide in lockers.
100%-creatures will follow a survivor onto a generator halting it's repairing progress. Crushing a creature will inflict survivors will the oblivious status effect for 30s
For each stack of paranoia survivors have reduce the terror radius of THE THING by 1m.
SPECIAL ABILITY: INSTINCT
At the start of the trial gain three stacks of instinct. Each stack lowers your movement speed by 0.1m/s. Toggle to send out a sentient piece of yourself to patrol the surrounding environment. The effectiveness of this ability is scaled with the amount of stacks of paranoia survivors have. Survivors with zero stacks will not be actively followed.
- Survivors catching one of the creatures can crush it removing 25% paranoia.
- Movement is 3.8m/s
- Regress generators at 1% progression every 10 seconds.
