Buff Oni so he is viable agains't good survivors.

Make Oni start with his power this will only make him viable agains't good survivor but will not affect middle or low skill survivors as agains't them you get hit anyway. The power can disable once you down first survivor so good Oni will not down entire team which rarely happens anyway.

Sounds kind of terrifying with Lethal Pursuer, NGL. Plague at least has to walk to her free fountain and then walk to the survivors at 115 speed.

I think a better way of strengthening Oni against predrop fests would be to make it so that his power continues to passively charge to full... or better yet, that breaking pallets gives him some small amount of charge. Starting out with it is overkill, but this way he won't get completely stalled out either.

He's already good enough. He's also relatively rare as he is a strong killer survivors enjoy facing! I've had messages from survivors giving me props for just playing Oni.

It may be best to improve your own gameplay first.

Too many safe pallets for survivors Oni is weakest killer in the game without power so I would not call him strong. Good survivors will pre drop 100 pallets before you can get hit. His power either is not life savior on console. I can't make same turns as pc players and it doesn not matter as all gens are done before you get the power. This is reality agains't good survivors in maps like borgo. That map is just disgusting for m1 killers to play. Oni 100% needs buff and that will not even affect casual survivors in anyway as agains't them you get hit under 30s into the game. Oni is easiest killer to buff to be viable in all skill levels .

We went from nerf B tier killers to buff A tier killers on this forum and I wouldn't expect anything else tbh.

Make that an iri, not basekit

Against a good team, game start can be rough for oni.

I wish he still had the bug that dropped more blood orbs. He was so much better.

Maybe as an addon, at most.

Call it Blinding Rage. He starts in his rage mode, but suffers from the blindness status effect until his rage ends.

Oni is one of the strongest killers in the game, he starts weak but then escalates to top tier so no, he doesnt need any buff his power is almost busted so he needs to have some downside in order to get it.

Oni is one of the stronger killers in the game. Yes he needs to get that first hit but all killers need sooome weakness.

While I'd agree he could use a few QoL improvements I think starting with his power is too much.

More blood orbs didn’t really fix his main issue of struggling to get the first hit. It just helped him snowball more than he needed to if he got multiple injuries

  • woundcowboy
    woundcowboy Member Posts: 1,994

No, I wouldn’t. He takes too long to get going. Good survivors know to predrop and not give him that first hit. He won’t get his power until the game is close to over.

no it fixed his issue completely. getting first hit is not issue. its keep your momentum to recycle your power is the issue. that bug fixed that perfectly. if he gets first hit and does not mess up with his power, enough blood orb will spawn for him to get his power back from 0-100% or 50->100%. currently, you can play every Oni demon-form nearly perfectly(like down people in 20 seconds) and still lose. I have had Oni games like that. games like that make me stop playing him.

    I think he's fine.

His only real weakness is getting his first hit. If you can get a hit within the first minute and a half, you can usually win.

Oni is fine. It can be hard to get the first hit but after that you're good. If you have trouble with that, I recommend Lethal Pursuer + Corrupt Intervention.

Oni is one of the few comp viable killers.

In other words, he is often played against some of the best players that have touched DBD and he comes out on top pretty often.

    Oni is fine as is.

Oni is one of the few Killers where you can lose 3-4 gens in one chase but you might still end up on top since you can snowball with your power well.

Oni is in a far better spot than a lot of killers. Having him start with his power would be ridiculous. That wouldn't make him better against good survivors, it would just give you an early down, maybe not even that if you are struggling with him.

  • Deathstroke
    Deathstroke Member Posts: 3,522

Definetely not far from it. Killer who start as F tier is easy to counter for good survivors. Even his power is S tier but you're not gonna get it until all gens are done so it does no matter. Blight and nurse has stronger powers but they still can use them all the time.

Maybe some god tier pc oni:s but that usually only result of survivors being too altruistic.

Ngl, Oni felt so good and fun during the time he was bugged. But I guess you can't balance around casual players, only around the very best that know their chosen killers kit in and out.

Giving me an Oni who can frequently rage is not big deal, I will have fun while still mostly attacking he foliage and environment, but give an Oni main this power and they will crush faces and snowball in no time.

I like that build up his power through breaking things idea, and to it I'd add being hit with a pallet, so he's also absorbing his own blood too.

No way that should be basekit. Too strong with lethal pursuer. Maybe as an iridescent addon. Tbh oni is good, he just requires skill to use effectively. Similar to demo, hard tonuse but very powerful when used right.

And then he proceeds to squash survivors like bugs as they have both less to work with and he has instant down with mobility.

What we don't get is why people think that losing those first gens means the end of the game when its the exit gates that mater.

  • woundcowboy
    woundcowboy Member Posts: 1,994

The steam rolling part of his power is entirely within the survivor’s control. That can only happen if they play poorly and stay close to each other.

  • Rulebreaker
    Rulebreaker Member Posts: 2,115

Smash pick up get next hit due to lack of resources rage smash survivor of choice (preferably a healthy one) collect repeat. Simplified to grossness but we think you get the point. You make it seem like the killer can't play smart.

  • woundcowboy
    woundcowboy Member Posts: 1,994

Hoping that all of the survivors are close enough together to steamroll is not smart play. It’s controlled by the survivors. The reality is, all but two killers have very little agency in the chase. There are too many safe structures and pallets, hence why 3 genning and camping have become even more prevalent.

  • Rulebreaker
    Rulebreaker Member Posts: 2,115

Thing is, they don't need to be close together. Oni can MOVE when enraged, and with resources gone all he needs is a target. Though we agree there's a bit to many safe things on alot of maps.
