Why are so many killer addons so dumpster️🔥?
Sadako, pyramid head, knight, and I can go on forever but most of it if not all killer addons are weak and pathetic that even brown addons are considered S tier compared to an iridescent addon.

I first though they were making mistakes with there more or less always being a yellow addon as the strongest, and some brown ones being stronger than many iridescent. But it happens again and again with new killers so it's probably on purpose. Perhaps so that new players can use a strong brown addon and such having few addons in their kit. Idk.

I would actually say most killers have really good add-ons. There's just a handful that don't have a lot of good ones. Namely Pyramid Head, Freddy, and Nemesis. You can make an argument for Deathslinger, but the good ones he does have are VERY good.
Kind of funny that you mention Sadako and Knight, since they both have a lot of really good add-ons.

Nemesis addons are so bad it almost makes me cry. They had the guts to nerf some of them too.
2 -
also which deathslinger addons are good?

Mainly reload speed and stun cooldown.
The Bayshore's Cigar is the equivalent of having permanent 6 stacks of STBFL on your ranged attack. Warden's Keys saves you 500ms every reload, which means survivors get about 2m less of distance if you reload in chase (survivors can no longer reach a new loop if they leave the loop while you are reloading).
Chewing Tobacco and Modified Ammo Belt are just the inferior versions of those, but they are still pretty good.
Prison Chain lets you get hits at certain loops that are normally impossible. I personally think it's overrated, tho. Stun or Reload is better.
Iridescent Coin is also obviously very strong, especially when combined with stealth perks so you can shoot someone off a gen and then insta-down them.
===
The two Reeling speed and the two ADS movement speed add-ons are all so useless that they are not really different from running no add-ons at all.
All his other add-ons are just "ok", and not really useful most of the time (2 for mending time, 2 for mangled, 3 for stealth).
So like 6 of his 20 add-ons are good enough to be considered usable, and 4 of those 6 add-ons are duplicates of each other lol.

the main add-on I used on slinger are green warden keys+iri coin(if I have it) or I use brown reload+Tin Oil Can because Tin Oil Can reduces missed cooldown by 0.5 second meaning that you can press reload faster after missing so its close to Warden keys in term of reload when missing.
slinger is pretty unfun to play though. I played like 20 games with him running hubris to test out hubris viability. the first like 12 games or so, the games were so easy it wasn't a challenge, but as soon as you starting facing the actual good players. he becomes unfun to play. really hope he gets some changes some day to make less unfun to play vs better survivors.

Knight have decent/good addons, problem is ye only have 1 slot because you need map of the realm.
Also you forgot nemesis in the club of "we need addon pass please".

Against good survivors, Slinger relies super heavily on winning mind games and having short chases with STBFL.
I've been wanting to make a guide on how to do a lot of my favorite mindgames as Slinger, but I just don't have the energy lately.

Sadako at least has one good addon that single-handedly fixes her.

Don’t forget Hillbilly’s add-ons. Hot pile of garbage

Because we can't have nice things.

Tbh I'd rather they fix the problems with the kits and have every killer have terrible addons than have terrible kits with mandatory addons to fix the glaring holes

i think he relies on survivor being completely clueless how to play vs his gun, ranged killers as a whole. the survivor has to have such terrible movement. I would say going for hooks vs slinger against strong team is like 2-3 hooks in 5 gens. I remember playing slinger where I was going for chases with 5-6 hooks on average. A lot of my games slinger were like draws even though every chase was like 20 second long. now every chase is like double/triple time. I hate how I have to 3 gen with slinger and camp instead of chase people to have relevant winning chances. whatever, zipping lip.

If a survivor knows how to vs Slinger, you can use that against them.
"aha, he's aiming, let me crouch or juke to dodge his shot." You can learn how a particular survivor tries to dodge your shot and you play around it.
A survivor that crouches will lose distance when you fake a shot, or they may crouch without realizing they are at a loop where you can shoot them while they are crouched (which is most of them).
A survivor that jukes a lot can be tricked into running into walls, or juking into your shot. Pull up your gun and lower it, they juke. Then pull up your gun and fire and they walk right into your shot when they are trying to get back on course. Like this: tap m2 to fake ads -> quickscope and fire.
Holding angles is also pretty viable. Chase a survivor around a corner, then turn around and aim at the window. If they don't pass by in about two seconds, they left the loop and you already know which direction they ran in.
Against survivors that hold W, you can pull all sorts of mindgames that trick them into getting themselves shot. Mostly faking shots and making them mess up, or cutting them off in an unexpected way.
Slinger is good, he just requires a lot of time investment. In the time it takes to get what I would call "decent" with Slinger, you could probably have been an expert Nurse, Blight, or Huntress in half the time. It's understandable that most people do not want to play him.

Sadako and Knight's add-ons are completely fine, idk what you're on about there. I agree with the rest of the post though, some killers just have garbage addon's that don't do very much. Like pyramid head, nemesis, and last but not least Freddy. I think he has the worst add-ons in the game, since most of them literally do nothing. He only has 1 good add-on imo, which is the red paintbrush.
1 -
Knight's add-ons are a mix of "so good they're practically required" and "completely useless bunk." Almost all his greens are trash, his purples are too situational, and his iridescents may as well not exist.
I'd love to play Pyramid Head and Nemesis more but their add-ons are also awful, they really need work, I feel like nothing I choose actually matters and if you don't have any fun add-ons you can switch in and out, it makes the killer feel stale way faster.

you are forced to use an addon slot for map of the realm if you want to make the knight VIABLE... not strong, not broken, VIABLE...
0 -
I think a lot of it is a kit thing. There's only so much you can do to adjust some powers that aren't really weird or a stat check for the killer to have. Blights power is simple but allows for a wide range of add-ons, most of which are effective but not broken.
0 -
to be fair, I don't play Knight much. But just looking at his add-ons tells you that a lot of them are very strong, or they change the game significantly.
0 -
They are all situational most of the times, but noone of those is even remotely viable without the brown addon that I said
0 -
The Black Box iri is very very underrated. You can use it to guarantee a blood warden proc against a SWF that 99s gates. It's useless vs selfish solo queue lol

dont forget poor mikey

Myers literally has one of the best addon sets in the game.
2 -
Remember when they nerfed Mikael's Eye for Nemesis because it was "overused" completely ignoring the fact that it was the most used because almost every other add-on for him is hot garbage. Not to mention that the add-on affects the zombie, which has horrific AI in the first place.
0 -
Why not both? I mean, killers basekit should be strong enough to play without addons. While addons should allow for different play styles. They can do it, see Myers. So why not do something like that for all killers?
0 -
Idk what people are talking about with Knights addons being good, they are completely terrible bar like a few. He needs a nearly full addon pass.
1 -
yeah, that's just exaggerating.
He's got two good browns, five good yellows, two decent greens, three good purples, and two good iridescents.
0 -
Nope. His only even somewhat decent green is Grim Iron Mask, which inflicts Blindness so that tells you how "good" his best green is, the rest are completely worthless. His only okay purple is Lightweight Greaves, and his Iridescents just suck.
0 -
Yeah, people always bring Sadako up, but her add-ons are pretty good. God tier when compared to flaming trash like PH's add ons. He desperately needs an add-on overhaul.
1 -
I'd argue Myers' basekit isn't strong enough to play without addons
1 -
bro, you have no idea what you are talking about.
His greens suck, but almost everything else is good.

Tattered Tabard is good if you like putting your guards next to a gen that has been kicked with Overcharge or CoB.
Pillaged Mead lets you break pallets nearly instantly with Carnifex. If you don't think that's good, you are crazy.
Map of the Realm is good for obvious reasons.
=
Treated Blade, Cold Steel Manacles, and Battle Axe Head are all good for obvious reasons. They let you use your preferred guard more often.
Dried Horsemeat gets you more hits with guards.
Call to Arms makes it easier to get jumpscare hits with your guards.
=
Town Watch's Torch and Ironworker's Tongs are gimmicky, but usable.
Broken Hilt is free slowdown if your guards hit someone, but just getting chased by the guard is usually enough slowdown.
=
Lightweight Greaves are difficult to make work, but should be strong in theory.
Healing Poultice is Infectious Fright on command.
Blacksmith's Hammer lets you tie up a chase if the survivor held W to outrun you and your guard.
=
Knight's Contract is easily abused by dropping guards and hitting them to disperse them.
Iridescent Company Banner blocks off windows and blocks exit gates. It's Bamboozle, but you can block multiple windows for a very large amount of time. 15-27 seconds with Jailer and Assassin, 15-39 seconds with Carnifex. Blocking off exit gates just turns into a free kill most of the time, so yeah, obviously a good add-on.

Pillaged Mead lets you break pallets nearly instantly with Carnifex. If you don't think that's good, you are crazy.
The first is the most boring use of his guards, and the additional 6 seconds can make his power harder to use in every other context.
Carnifex already breaks pallets nearly instantly at base, buffing that speed is unnoticeable.
Town Watch's Torch and Ironworker's Tongs are gimmicky, but usable.
Unusable. Your power failing to hurt someone three times is just a waste of your power, and if a survivor escapes a Hunt then you're either already chasing after them or they're on the other side of the map, Oblivious does nothing in either case.
Broken Hilt is free slowdown if your guards hit someone, but just getting chased by the guard is usually enough slowdown.
Or I could just use Sloppy Butcher or Gift of Pain and get much more consistent results without wasting an add-on slot on the Hilt or Chainmail.
Knight's Contract is easily abused by dropping guards and hitting them to disperse them.
The Exposed only lasts 8 seconds and it only applies to every fourth guard, I'm wasting a lot of time on this clunky set-up for an Exposed hit that probably won't happen because it lasts so short.

Again, using the power is so clunky that squeezing the line through windows while chasing a survivor is just a waste of time, especially since most survivors know to just leave the tile when you start. And since holding W is how you escape a guard, blocking vaults behind them accomplishes nothing most of the time. And on top of all that is an ability that only works when I've already lost the game? Wow, incredible add-on.

Just because his add-ons aren't as good as Spirit or Blight add-ons doesn't mean they are unusable and bad lol.
Add-ons should be "nice little buffs" in my opinion, and Knight's add-ons are pretty much entirely "nice little buffs."
Like you can pick any two Knight add-ons at random, and you will generally get some kind of value out of them. With killers like Nemesis, Freddy, and Pyramid Head, picking two random add-ons has like a 1 in 10 chance that you will get an add-on that actually helps you in some way.
Freddy specifically has about four add-ons that will make your power worse.
As far as what can be consider to be "having bad add-ons", Knight really doesn't fit the bill since most of his add-ons are pretty useful in one way or another. I despise doom-and-gloomers. Just because something is "just okay" doesn't mean it's unusable trash lol

Oh yes, basekit Myers needs a buff. BUT the concept of having completely different playstyles for the same killer is something amazing.

Just as long as they don’t hurt my Myers Scratched Mirror build. It’s really the only killer I have fun playing. I just wish there was a way to increase Lery’s offerings because all I have are The Game and it’s hard to spook good survivors on it.
0 -
he has a few busted ones but aside from those, he has like 3 viable ones
0 -
Not really. Tombstone Piece is his only addon that would be top tier. All his other addons are either decent to terrible with a couple of good ones sprinkled in.

Well there are a few ways to approach this:
One way is to blame survivors, which is a common stance you'll see though it don't really make sense. The logic being that survivors don't like dealing with killer addons that drastically shift the way a killer's power functions and thus the devs started just making addons be more about covering weaknesses rather than changing strengths.
Another way is blame killers, which is another common stance. The logic being that killers either lean to heavily on overpowered iri addons or abuse gimmick addons to the point that devs have no choice but to sort of just front load more standard buffs into lower value addons and stop making actual gamechanger style gimmick addons.
A less common stance is that the devs have just sort of ran out of ideas.
No matter what stance you agree with the reality is that each killer has I think like 28 addons and at that amount a lot of them just aren't going to be particularly useful. You're gonna get a chunk that influence the least useful aspects of their power.

In an ideal game, every killer would have that.
