The REAL Survivor Rule Book.

I'm making this because of how many times I see stupid behavior in this game...

Rule 1- If you are hit near the hook, and no one else is there for the save, try to trade, you're getting downed in the next 10-15 seconds regardless anyways.

Rule 2- If you know someone was just unhooked, DO NOT LEAD THE KILLER TO THEM! They will leave you yes, but because they will go tunnel them.

Rule 3- If someone is Dead Hook, try your best to draw the killer away from them so you aren't left in a 3v1 early on.

Rule 4- If someone is attempting to kill themself on hook, it's probably best to just let it happen, because they will throw the game even more so by wasting resources and purposely missing skill checks.

Rule 5- Sometimes it's better to just guarantee the skill check instead of trying to "style" a great skill check, because no one will really see the result, and it barely saves any time.

Rule 6- If a gen is very close to completion, AND someone is working with you, AND ONE OF YOU HAVE PROVE THYSELF, COMMIT TO THE GEN! ... Unless they have Pain Res and Dead Man's Switch, then by all means let go as you see the surv on hook being hooked. Which reminds me...

Rule 7- Check for easy perks to identify, like Pain Res and DMS. If you know a perk is in use, try to counter it, like letting go just before a surv is hooked (you can see their aura reappear, as I said) for pain res, or letting go as the killer gets near/running for the save to see if it blocks from DMS.

Rule 8- Wave your arms (spam the attempt escape action) to signal for a save, hold it, but don't complete it (try to get it nearly full before canceling) if the Killer is camping.

Rule 9- If the killer is camping, commit to gens and let the surv on hook slowly die. It will utilize as much of the time as you can, since the killer would just get another, maybe even stop the save AND get another (like if it's a Bubba).

Rule 10- Just try to have fun, it's only a game after all, and dying isn't the end of the world. If you're not having fun, perhaps you should do something else (Like play Civ 5 or whatever Kote suggested, lmao.)

I hope this can help unify some thought processes in the surv community. If you have a problem with a rule, or disagree... Too bad, it's all truth, and if you go against the "Rule Book", you're setting yourself up for failure.

Rule 1- No. Do not do this. This is the worst possible thing you can do. The game is over if you get downed around a hooked player. You should never take a hit and then run in for a save unless you're trading at end game. Get away from the hook if you get found trying to sneak in for a save.

Rule 3- take a hit for them, but leave if the killer keeps chasing them. You're not going to stop a killer from tunneling through sheer willpower.

Rule 6- this really depends on the situation. Greeding gens is a super common mistake less experienced survivors make. If you need to break up a bad 3 gen, sure. But don't risk throwing for less impactful gens.

Unless it's a SM (because I get it) I won't obey Rule 4, because 9/10 times they'll keep playing like normal. Many times they even get to the end and sometimes they'll escape. I want them to see that even seemingly bad games can be worth sticking around for.

Also Rule 8 isn't set in stone. When I first started playing, the "rule" was to 'wave' when being camped. Alot of people now use it just to show their impatience.

Also very common mistake which I see survivors doing is not to commit on last gen not even taking hit for it and then ending up losing or nearly losing match when it could been won. But today I regret actually commiting last gen I got it done but had to went down for it. But my 2 teammates were useless going down in less than 10s and one got grapped and they gave killer 3K.

Playing it slow is usually better, provided survivors are smart about their spacing. If you don't greed the gen but then also die right near the gen, that's a double bonk. It's like over-committing without any of the upside and all of the downside. Do it or don't, but if you don't, make absolutely sure you run early and don't go down anywhere near it.

Or just ignore all this and play how you want.

Here's something I experienced today: if you have Sprint Burst, don't unhook a survivor and then immediately use it to run away from the approaching killer, leaving the unhooked survivor alone and a much easier target.

Saw this happen two or three times in a match I had earlier. This is why Background Player was changed.
