Altruism doesn’t exist anymore in solo Q
The amount of times I have to trade hooks or take the down cuz nobody bothers or they get hit and run away is crazy! Especially when I duo SWFed with my friend. I was death hook and I had to trade cuz he would have gotten 2nd stage if I didn’t. Ridiculous how you barely see it anymore and on top of that they Tbag at the exit gate like they did something.. Either go trade or I’m letting you die on hook if you won’t even bother unhooking. I love being altruistic cuz it fits my playstyle and I want to avoid people going struggle phase cuz I know how annoying it can be but if teammates act like this more often, I won’t unhook you anymore and let you die on hook. Anyone else also experiencing this or am I the only person with this bad luck?
To the people that don’t give a damn about your teammates, I hope you will get a Nurse or Blight who slugs you on the ground for 4 min!

I forgot to add that to my post. People who are 0 hooked all game just stand at the gate and refuse to come rescue you when your in need of help. Taking aggro and helping the poor survivor that is getting tunneled out may win the match cuz if he’s dead, that means there is 1 teammate less to help out the game.
I always do my best to help out teammates getting tunneled. Cuz I’ve been there and it hurts when there are no teammates out there that will help us when we need them. This game sometimes can be so frustrating..

It does in my games

I get that it's frustrating, but survivors are getting smarter. The whole concept of taking aggro is a flawed one. The killer doesn't have to chase anyone they don't want to chase. You can tank a hit for someone, but anything beyond that is throwing if the killer continues to chase them. The dumbest thing survivors do is run after the teammate being tunneled as if the killer will somehow have to stop tunneling if there are witnesses. You're not preventing the tunnel and you're not punishing it.
Sometimes it's a bad play to trade hooks. The killer doesn't have to trade. They can leave you slugged and go after the person that just got rescued. If you don't have Unbreakable when you trade, you give more free pressure to the killer.
Altruism is great in theory, but an experienced killer will play around it, and an experienced survivor is weighing the pros and cons.

It happens to me and I've also done it to others. When it happens to me, its a bad feeling b/c I always contribute to the team's success.
Now when I do it to others, its ONLY when
- you're lasting 10-20 seconds in chase, going down repeatedly, you're not touching gens, you're doing things that should come 2nd to gens, like breaking dull totems or opening chests, running the killer to other teammates you know are in an area trying to complete an important gen such as break the 3gen, refuse to be healed upon being unhooked & run around the map injured also not doing gens, etc...And I'm not talking about just 1 or 2 messups, but numerous factors like these.
You're probably not losing anything of value.
I legit just had a match against Cenobite, the David didn't touch a single gen and everytime he was injured, he HAD to heal before doing anything else. There was no urgency even when we were down to 2 gens and 1 person was already dead. Then you got the Detective Tapp who did decent in chase but ran the killer in a loop that was around a gen at 95-100%, and by the time I'm able to get on it, its regressed down to 50% b/c he doesn't know how to leave the area. Not like he didn't know, cause he was working on that same gen lol.
I've gotten to the point where if I realize you aren't helping the team, I'm over it and I don't care to be altruistic. Your 10-20 second chases mean very little if anything, you have no map awareness or gen awareness, there's no urgency, etc.
Not saying this is why it happens to you or me, but I tend to not help people who screw the team over and snowball the match hard for the killer. Even in that match, I still proceeded to help and do my part, saving, getting in chase, healing, doing gens, etc but when 2-3 others are oblivious to what they're doing wrong or what's happening in a match (like a killer clearly protecting a 3gen and no one trying to break it), it doesn't matter how well you play, you're just fighting a losing battle at that point.

trust me bhvr will never anythinking after years they did implement simple icons for the solo q, play swf, killer or leave dbd behind you and look for another game, So if you still haven't understood that bhvr will really do nothing for the solo q at some point, you should keep dreaming, i dont wake you up dream on...

I just think its best not to get to amped up about it. Everyone has different playstyles. And luckily we have the UI update for better coordination. Of course, its up to you what you want to do, be it trade or not. Or be petty and dont help the person who never helped at all. End of the day, the objective is to escape.

I think you'll find the large number of solo players constantly screwed by 2 swf and 3 swf makes them reluctant to jump in to help swf players. If you want to improve swf's reputation for leaving people to die saying you'll leave people on hook is not really the way to go.

"Violence begets violence; hate begets hate; and toughness begets a greater toughness. It is all a descending spiral, and the end is destruction — for everybody. Along the way of life, someone must have enough sense and morality to cut off the chain of hate."
- Marting Luther King Jr.
I played against a Wesker earlier who camped their first hook. The remaining 3 of us sat on gens, because we only had 1 gen complete at that time, and none of us had BT, OTR, DS, DH, etc.
I started running over for unhook about 15s before 2nd Stage, and Kate did the same as well. Our teammate went to 2nd Stage, but it looked like we were going to have a chance at a coordinated unhook. I gave Wesker a free hit so he'd chased me--he did--and not 5 seconds later our teammate let go on hook.
They stuck around and watched the entire match play out, only to talk smack in post about what terrible teammates they had for letting them go to 2nd Stage.
I understand the person's frustration, but they are out of their mind to be blaming their teammates.
I've stopped feeling sorry for my teammates when things don't go their way. This community is so divided, Survivors don't even know what it means to be a teamplayer--and why should they, when any one player can abandon objective for hatch. Survivors are not incentivized to work together, and it plagues this game to the core.
It's really upsetting that a large enough portion of this community defends the every-survivor-for-themself elements of this game, to the point where the devs a) don't see how problematic it is, or b) are afraid to make a change.
More than anything, this game needs a QoL patch that restores faith in Survivors' teammates, and pushes them to work together.

Exactly this ^
You can try taking aggro, but if it does not work (e.g., killer just ignores you because you are fresh hook) ... the best you can do 90% time is going back to a generator!
It is how it is!

This reminds me of a match today that you all may or may not find amusing...
I was playing soloq surv today and it was a Blight..he hooked a Feng in the basement and I was completely across the map..by the time I realized no one was going and ran all the way across she had gone into second..which I felt bad about..I unhook her and before we even leave, Blight comes right back....so I try to get inbetween them and realize he is intentionally tunneling her...so he continues to ignore me, and she turns back and comes my way..so I hop in between again, she vaults a window..I stand there..he hits me...expecting me to move, but I had no hooks and she's now on death hook so i'm like nah...he stands there confused..and then hits me again when he realized I wouldn't move...but by then she was across the map, healing in the ol boon...
At the end we got chased out, then the other Feng got chased out..I was like oh no, Poor Ace is in there alone and injured...i switch to spectate..the hatch opens right by him and he moonwalks to it and dips hahaha..i hope someone found this all as amusing as myself.

lol I need you to join my discord server! I have slowly but steadily building up a group of in game friends who play altruistically. Sure we get steamrolled for being so and take aggro for each other but the purpose is never to be toxic to killer; rather our mindset is “I know how bad it feels for me to not be ‘playing’ as am on hook so I want to try and let my friends survive - even if it means my own death”. When we have a group of people like that it makes the survival even more satisfying and we can get points too.
I play on Nintendo Switch so can never usually chat to people on game or at the end of a lobby but I always try and play in a way I can be useful to my team. When someone is in chase, do gens. When they’re being tunnelled obviously, try to take heat off if I know it’s a mate who isn’t strong at chases or try and read for possible sabo/flashbang save if they’re likely to go down. If someone is hooked, try and go for the save and heal them so they can enjoy the game. This is what I’d like someone to do for me and it’s what I try and do for them.
I salute and respect your efforts - please don’t ever change.
