What if Pain Resonance ceased to be a Scourge Hook perk? Or if Scourge Hook perks were buffed?

Even though Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance is currently, on live servers, a good perk, it can have its value immensely reduced by RNG. You can only hook in specific hooks spread around the map. Sometimes you can use it all the time... but you may also spawn on a big map while all the scourge hooks are near one of the edges, unreachable most of the time. Sometimes you play on a map with multiple floors and never has a scourge hook available when you down a survivor (the worst case of this is RPD). But now, IN ADDITION to this already existing limitation, it will only trigger once per survivor. That means it can only trigger up to four times per game, but there is a chance you trigger less times than that.

I liked the buff the perk received from its previous PTB version, but isn't having BOTH the new limitation and the scourge hook limitation too much, since it triggers only a small number of times and RNG might mess it up and make it even smaller? Depending where the hooks spawn, the perk will give you no incentive to chase different survivors in certain areas, as it will have no effect there anyway.

So what if "Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance" became just "Pain Resonance" and triggered every timea survivor is hooked for the first time? The only possible downside I see is that it wouldn't allow you to save its effect for later (in case no gen is being done at the time), but would still make its value more consistent and give you more incentive to chase different survivors around the map.

Other option would be to buff the Scourge Hook Mechanic in general and make so it spawns 5 hooks instead of 4, since the only consistently good Scourge Hook perks right now are Pain Resonance and Floods of Rage, and one of them is about to become far more limited.

    Sorry but killers only getting nerfs

    So dont expect any buffs to anything

    Maximum throwing bones some useless minor buffs like killing pain res then and making 25% damage so that later survs can say that killers got something

    Are you going to ignore how COH and DH were nerfed completely? DH can only activate 8 times in one match through all 4 survivors and COH you can’t self heal anymore and that 100% bonus doesn’t stack with medkits.

    I feel like for each Scourge Hook perk you bring it should spawn 1 additional Scourge Hook.


    1 Perk = 4 Hooks

    2 Perks = 5 Hooks

    3 Perks = 6 Hooks

    4 Perks = 7 Hooks

    Complete nerf is what happened with COB and OC. The only thing has changed about DH is that you will not see it in the first chases. All other issues have been ignored and with new changes every survivor will have DH activated for free when you needed to earn it on the PTB.

    And the most funny thing is if you don’t want to see DH in your matches, secure second stage and tunnel this survivor so he will DH only once. Devs thought this new DH will make unhooked survivor less attractive for tunneling, huh? Fair play also means the Killer activated 4 DHs for himself. What killer will ruin his game with this?

    So onstead of medkits swf will be with flashlights same time doing 30 gens and coordinating 8 sec heald in new COH

    While killer eill get all DH game will finish 3 times

    Scourge hooks should reshuffle any time any survivor is put on any hook. This prevents repeatedly using the same scourge hook and prevents all scourge hooks from being permanently huddled together in one distant corner of the map.

    The new pain res is less reliant on scourge hook placement.

    In the current version if you miss a scourge hook on somebody that's 15% regression you'll never get. In the new one missing one hook but getting the next hook still gives you all the vallue.

    New PR is more of a sidegrade, arguably even a buff. Some players just conditioned themself to see any change as a nerf without thinking about it

    Honestly PR has no reason to be a scourge anymore. The other 2 can stay as a scourge hook but rng should be more reasonable

    honestly i wouldn't like pain res becoming a non-scourge perk because it's up to you to not use it at a given time and save for later.

    edit: but i definitely advocate for improved spread of 4 hooks or even increased number of hooks available.

    Scourge hooks dead

    Hexes dead

    Regress perk dead

    Gen block to be nerfed next

    Then cycle of killing killer starts again breaking bottom even more
