How Far From Horror Should Licences Go?
DBD's latest Killers have felt way more experimental than the slashers the game was built around. Despite being from a horror game, Wesker, the most recent licenced Killer, feels way more badass than even remotely spooky too. So I was wondering how far away from horror you wouldn't mind DBD going, particularly with licences!
Whether you think the limit should be:
- Only pure horror (The Thing, Alien, IT)
- Franchises which aren't full-on horror but retain spooky themes (Bioshock, Bloodborne)
- Anything as long as characters are cool and fit their roles as Killers and Survivors (Cyberpunk 2077, DC)
Or a more specific barrier, if you think of one

Part-Horror/Spooky Themes
While DBD isn't a scary game, it's still a game focus around horror elements. While chapters don't have to be pure-horror, there should be some kind of horror theme to them. A good example would be Trickster. His lore is very horror related, but most people will see him a JPop star.

Must stay horror-themed in some capacity, and not like "I mean, this character could beat you up so technically it's horror".
Seeing Knight on Haddonfield is uncanny as hell to me. Skull Merchant is uninteresting.
I'd also appreciate if we could stay away from anime. I'm not a big fan, and I think they don't really fit DbD.

So long as it's a killer of sorts then anything goes.
There would be limits, of course! But honestly there are a fair few killers that - although won't ever be in DBD - could still fit from non-horror or spooky franchises.
Finn Kelly (Neighbours), Judge Doom (Who Framed Roger Rabbit), Sweeney Todd, Villanelle (Killing Eve), Adachi (Persona 4) ... all technically would probably look out of place in the game, yet in a realm where the Entity has taken many, many more survivors and killers than what we see, each of those would easily be around somewhere, killing happily.
