Did DBD merge all countries into one server?

I am just wondering almost every other game i get people with different language names in my lobby and ask them after chat where are they from and they will say they are from across the world from where I am at. normally i wouldn't care but the games become extremely laggy and not fun to play.. Did they merge all the servers together or something?

EU player here, didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. If anything, I've been seeing slightly less people with Cyrillic names, but that could be just dumb luck.
