Sad Cross Progression News
Still doesn't seem like we'll be getting cross progression any time soon. I doubt any good news of it will come within the year either.
My theory is that the problem lies with Sony. Sony has always been content with keeping their playerbase only on their console. On the flip side, Microsoft has pushed for Xbox to be more of a platform than only a console, and has added cross progression to games like Sea of Thieves. I cannot speak on Nintendo as I'm not sure how lenient Nintendo is with cross progression.
This puts BHVR in an uncomfortable position where they could probably give cross progression only between Xbox and PC, but cannot do so with Playstation and PC. Therefore, I believe they refrain from doing this in order to avoid backlash from a specific side of the console playerbase and keep this matter fair from their point of view. However, this is just my speculation.

They are never gonna do it. Sony would never want players to switch. Idk how Microsoft is with xbox

I mean, If this is true then "a specific side of the console playerbase" should be mad at Sony but not at the BHVR, shouldn't they? There's a saying "For one that's missing there's no spoiling a wedding" which perfectly describes this situation.

If Microsoft or Nintendo allowed it while Sony didn't they would just leave Playstation out of it. Currently Microsoft does not allow anonymous mode on Xbox, that didn't stop BHVR from giving it to Playstation players.
Microsoft isn't even allowing cross progression between Xbox and Windows Store - 2 Microsoft platforms. Cross progression for PC is only with Steam and Epic because Microsoft won't allow Windows Store to be included. Microsoft for whatever reason is not allowing cross progression in DBD.
They were working with Nintendo for cross progression with Switch but at some point it fell through. When they were planning for Switch cross progression they were going to do it even though Sony and Microsoft were not going to happen.

to be fair, this could be something that Microsoft would allow but BHVR would just not provide?
cross progress is currently tied to the BHVR account and maybe that’s where Microsoft and BHVR can’t agree on? This is just pure speculation of course.
and Nintendo is still in the air, right? Last statement was they ran into some unexpected (technical?) issues, though.. this shouldn’t take this long and I would love for them to finally state what’s actually going on there.

If that's the case it still wouldn't be Sony's fault like OP implied, it'd be an issue between Microsoft and BHVR.
As for Nintendo cross progression, the announcement in 2021 they said they were dedicated to resolving it but anytime someone asks about cross progression on Twitter they get the same exact response as in the screenshot. It's kind of reminding me of when they made that announcement about console optimization and 60 FPS - we got years of "we're still looking into it" whenever it was brought up.

There's probably more to it than that. Personally if this was the case and it was a Sony or Nintendo specific thing but Microsoft/Xbox was willing to play ball... I'd implement cross progression and when people asked why it isn't there for playstation i would tell them that "We'd like to but Sony won't let us, so you'll have to take it up with them" as it would put pressure on them to actually allow it.

If the issue is the DLCs, I feel like being able to share cosmetics and prestige levels etc would be good enough for now.

I mean it's really in Bhvr's best interest to slow roll this as long as possible. Not saying they are, but there's really no need to assume it's Sony who's holding back. Especially, as others have pointed out, Bhvr implemented certain features on PS that aren't on Xbox because Microsoft won't allow it.
My point is that we don't know why it's being held back and speculating just to assign blame is pointless and changes nothing.

probably the crossprogression just come to DBD when the old generation "Xbox X" and PS4 will be retired. noone ps4 player will buy a ps5 if their need that continue to play DBD. Im a example, i want change to PC, if i will need buy ps5 in the future, i just leave , im not interesting in start a brand new account. 7 years and we dont have Cross progression, you are a prisionei in your plataform, this is embarrassing, a lot of icons and franchises of terror and BHVR cant negociate the crosssave. Weird
