Top 3 killers by kill rate are....

Not exactly what I expected. Onryo's position is almost certainly due to the iri tape addon. At this point, I think its undeniable that the addon is in need of a nerf. Changing her basekit so the manifestation hits make the last TV projected to turn back on would be a decent change. An idea for nerfing the addon would be to make it so only hits from projecting from TV's would count (you wouldn't be able to trigger the addon just from de-manifesting and re-manifesting again). It would also disincentivize the ring-drawing addon in favor of the bloody finger nails addon (the one that makes you keep the speed boost longer after projecting).

There's probably an uptick of Skull Merchant players due to the tome. Aside from that, she still feels very strong at 3-gens which I think is a large contributing factor to her kill rate. Especially if she tunnels out a player before the end-game with a 3-gen, winning seems next to impossible.

Freddy is totally baffling to me. Maybe he's picked so infrequently that people forgot how to counter him? Most of his addons suck, is there some OP build on him that I'm unaware of or something?

Yes, I know these aren't official stats from Behavior, but is the best we have for now. I've also noticed more streamers mentioning the site as its grown in popularity. Theoretically, as the sample size increases (number of people reporting matches) the stats should be getting more accurate.

For nightlight stats: We don't know if the sample is representative. I think it's logical to presume that most of the submitters are mid tier or higher (the type of people who would have heard about it), but we can't be certain. I don't know if there is a way to view the individual submitted data so I can't tell the average prestige of the killers.

On the killers - one thing to note, I suspect the majority of forum users have every killer/survivor unlocked (or at least whatever side they main), but I suspect that is pretty rare for the player base as a whole. So when considering the killers we need to also look at what perks they commonly have available to them.

Onroyo - Has a powerful form for both low and high MMR. You mentioned the Iri tape, but Merciless Storm is very powerful against a lot of players. If I understand their stats correctly, 23.35% of Onroyo's are using it (though 42.36% are still using Call of Brine, even though that perk has taken a massive dive with other killers).

Skully - I wonder how much this is players just saying 'no thanks, I'm out' and sacrificing on hook.

Freddy - Over 20% of Freddy's use Blood Warden, and 19% use NOED, so I think what you are seeing is players who have the game won losing it at the end because they get stuck in the gates/trying for a 4e. Black Box + NOED + Blood Warden can result in a surprise massacre at the end.

Freddy's teleport and dream pallets are also not bad abilities until they get destroyed by SWFs later on.

BVHR reported that freddy is 4th deadliest killer across all MMR. you can see it in ALL MMR chart.

Ignoring wesker who was new killer. Pinhead and Sadako were #1 and #2. Nightlight's statistic vaguely match the developer provided statistics, so its fair to say that Skull merchant is high kill-rate killer for all MMR.

with how much BVHR focuses on excel spread stats, weaker killer like sadako will never get buffed because statistically, she's #2 killer according to these stats...vs 95% of the survivor player-base. Same for freddy. BVHR only look at statistics. Does not care about killer gameplay loop or how these killer feel to play.

Ignoring that these stats aren't really fully accurate... Skull Merchant kill rate is probably high because everyone gives up against her since no one wants to sit through a skull merchant game. I played against her three times last night and every game had a DC or hook suicide.

Now that you mention it, this has happened to me a lot too.

I’m going to make an assumption and say that these 4 killers have an inflated kill rate simply because people just give up against them.

I can’t remember the last time I played against one of these killers and the game didn’t have at least one DC on someone giving up on the hook.

Freddy also has a very small pickrate, so his kill rates would be higher because the only people who still play him at this point are really good with him.

In my opinion Freddy is there because he's good for killing newbies. You'll notice his position nosedives in the top 5% MMR chart.

More inexperienced players tend to react strongly to being asleep and oblivious. As such, they get off gens to get woken up, are bothered by oblivious, etc

More experienced players will stay on the gen while asleep and have better situational awareness so they'll look for Freddy when they hear the lullaby but won't otherwise care too much. Asleep survivors can still see the red stain so whether there's a heartbeat or not doesn't really matter for good loopers. Freddy's lullaby makes not having a TR largely irrelevant and the red stain lets him be looped like most other Killers.

Freddy isn't strong; he really needs a buff and/or rework. Sadako, Demogorgon and Dredge outclass his teleport and both Sadako and Dredge are harder to keep track of while looping. The slows and pallets only work on asleep survivors so they can't be guaranteed to work and Freddy's add-ons are garbage for the most part.

Somewhat off topic but I thought I'd mention it since Freddy is a classic horror icon but he's been done dirty and needs help
